I really like this video- you’re just providing your own opinions- even though I don’t see eye to eye with you on everything, I get the point you’re trying to convey. Watching your gameplay really made me recognize that you’re a casual though lol
As a kid, I'd get like one video game on Christmas and my birthday. Smash bros was my window into other series that I couldn't afford. Something I could play with all my siblings, with a character we could each identify with. I built a PC for streaming in like 2020, and started playing Minecraft for the first time in 2021. It turned out I ADORE that game because you just have so much choice to do what you want. So when Steve got announced, I was so hype. It's honestly amazing and heart warming. I had no attachment to Banjo, Sora, Metroid, King K. Rool, FF7, because I never had the chance to experience those games. Not against them being in the game, mind you, just like "oh, cool, new characters". But seeing the reveal trailers for them got me actively excited. In some sense you can feel how important that could be to someone and gaming history. There is a sense of wonder. It's like when Baka Mitai (dame dane meme) from Yakuza became a meme. A lot of those people don't understand Japanese or even have context, but they feel the emotions of that song like a native speaker. I felt that same thing looking at the trailers. I know 0 about Kingdom Hearts, truly nothing. But the Sora reveal was really really cool to me. It's like how I don't drink alcohol, but I can really appreciate a beautifully made cocktail. Or how I don't practice a religion, but can think a hymn is beautiful or a church has amazing architecture. I feel in a sense that some people have lost, or don't have, the ability to appreciate something that isn't tailored specifically to them. If it isn't perfectly for you, it's against you. It used to be like that heavy stuff like race, politics, gender sexuality, etc. But now it's spilling into really specific stuff like food preference, characters you like, games you like, shows you like. Like to the point where you could have just been playing Sonic or Steve because you like their games, but you are conflated with degenerate gameplay.
There are a few points you brought up that I certainly disagree with personally, but I can definitely get behind the main idea of the video. Ultimate is a game I have gripes with for sure, but it's led to some great memories with friends and it's impacted my life a lot. Each DLC reveal was a wonder day spent with friends talking about how excited we were, who we still wanted to see, and just generally BSing with each other while we play. Loved getting to mess around with custom stages and spirits to spice things up. I loved the different miis you could make and how goofy they can be. I hated trying to get my bearings with the new style compared to smash 4, and they new changes to characters I had played. But the feeling I got when going to a friendly house tournament and shaking some rust off was so genuinely wonderful. I disagree when people say all the characters feel the same, because they definitely don't. And I'm so happy with the characters we got. From the joke character in piranha plant, to the hype characters like ridley and sora. All the fighting game reps, all these childhood classics I have distinct memories with. Even if I hated the gameplay, the love and dedication put into the games roster, a roster filled to the brim with characters I love and grew up with, would have me coming back for more with my pals pretty often. It's not a perfect game, but it sure is an amazing one
I'm not a competitive Smash player, so I'm grateful that you saved the fan service and Easter egg mentions till the end so that it would have a proper buildup to someone like me! The fact that so many franchises can come together with such love and care is, quite frankly, nothing short of a miracle! It's also a great example of one being able to make a difference in something they love, as I voted for Banjo & Kazooie in the Smash Ballot, and after being disappointed that they were shafted from 3DS & Wii U, I never would have imagined that Nintendo would resurrect them in a brand-new entry! If there's a new Smash game, how would they improve it? I can at least summarize how not to ruin it in one sentence: Don't remove Banjo.
This is a really polished video and really deserves more views BUT I WILL NOT STAND FOR THE FOX PROPAGANDA I mean imo Fox IS the best character in Melee, but Fox does lose to Marth and at least 8 characters can win even the most stacked events
There were some genuinly interesting points, but I personaly thing you were generelasing concepts like ,,other " fighting games and player expression in those. And missunderstood the reasons for changes like the ledge changes. I personaly love melee edge-guarding as much as the next guy but I understand that having the ablility of grabing a already occupied ledge is less frustrating for newer/ less sklilled players and leds to a more interesting ledge trapping face (which you did not meantion at all). Futhermore good balance is something all fighting games should and newer games do strive for. The fact that melee has like 8 viable characters is not something one shoud praise a game for and similarly having every character be viable should be the bare minimum one shoud expect from a somewhat competitive game. Lastly I do not think every character is fully fledged out and even though it has gotten better over the years we still have 3 reskins of links with different physics, ganondorf still is a slower captain falcon with a sword and every other downb of a swordfighter is a counter.
I literally finished watching both your Star Fox videos back to back only now to be blessed with another masterpiece of yours talking about a game/franchise that I like. Aka, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This was definitely a high quality video which people should definitely watch. You also earned a new subscriber :D
With how much Fire emblem representatives they are in smash, why not make a Fire emblem fighting game. Probably not gonna happen but I would love for it to happen
Its disappointing to see how many people undersell the huge differences between smash 4 and brawl. Yes it is definitely closer to that then melee, but until the late DLC characters showed up and powercrept everything to hell and back, all of the criteria you had for why playing ultimate is so fun applied to smash 4. It actually had a lot more movement tech like perfect pivoting, glidetossing was infinitely stronger, movement vased around foxtrots, etc than ultimate does, the pace was just slower, and the balancing was worse but not by that much until the 2 bastards showed up. The singleplayer definitely sucked tho, no defending that
Hello, fellow Cloud player here. I found the point of everyone playing differently in some way. If it’s fine with you, could I send you a replay of a game I played recently?
Ok i'll just sound like that annoying guy who just wants to disagree, but I *despise* Melee ledge mechanics. It is sound in a mechanical sense, but it's just... So silly. There's nothing less hype than winning a 10-game set at Grand Finals with the final move of... grabbing the ledge so the opponent doesn't grab it instead. You know, I'm envisioning the next Smash game will be scaled back in terms of roster size, and instead we'll see more depth into the remaining characters, maybe fully reworked too. I can see each character having like 3 completely different movesets or any desired combination.. More or less what Smash 4 customs could have been if resources were infinite. They can't top Smash Ultimate in what it does best, so try a different approach. I like the way you think, though. Smash Ultimate has a lot to be explored already. Great video, even if you got some facts wrong (Fox isn't THAT dominant in Melee, Fire Emblem was ressurrected years before Byleth) but the heart is there, hope you get more subs
Yes, it matters. A lot of characters are not represent well within there moves. The game has a lot of elements, that make a good netcode not easy to implement. The gameplay need more interesting things to do, not the same N64 stuff with only little differences. If the next game did not have significant changes to gameplay and characters, then you are right, we did not need a new game. But playerbase will drop over time, it's the nature of every game and a new game brings new and old player back. Should be Smash the next F-Zero? I need a kind of reboot for the series to keep me interesting, even I played every game.
I can't believe a video of this quality came from such a small channel. You have great things ahead of you, good luck and I made sure to subscribe.
Same here!!! This was really good I genuinely thought it would be 300k views, not 300!!
thank you so much! i’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed the video, more to come soon 👀
I love how the algo started recommending me more and more small channels. I was blown away by the quality of the video, keep it up. :)
14:21 Cloud having the worst recovery? I don't know man...
Yea as soon as he said that I went to the comments 😂
Little mac ?????????????????

However at 14:23, you said cloud has the worst recovery, but little Mac is worse
ganon would like a word
Fire Emblem wasn’t thought dead when Three Houses released. Awakening revitalized the series 6 years prior
With how much Fire emblem representatives they are in smash, why not make a Fire emblem fighting game. Probably not gonna happen but I would love for it to happen

21:42 ...except ganondorf
Great video
This was cool. It makes my day
Fox isn’t the fastest in any game. It was Captain Falcon, but now it’s Sonic
now thats some good stuff
Did you just say “Solid Snake from Metal Gear Rising?”
A game he’s not even featured in
