Great horse , you can compare him to Secretariat , sure . But the Bid is not better , you gotta win all three American Classics in record time !

Is that some kind of joke?? To compare a 3 year old who excelled in restricted racing, then fell flat in open company. Who never was tested with weight. And avoided Forego like the plague at the end of 73, to a Champion like Spectacular Bid, who still holds the world record for the champions distance of a mile and a quarter. Who by the way, galloped out the next Quarter mile in in 25 flat, which equals a 2:22 4/5. Which would have beaten Secretariats Belmont by 6 lengths..without even trying. Is a bad joke!!! So in essence, there is not one distance on any racetrack where Secretariat was faster than Spectacular Bid..and in most of those races, the Bid was carrying 8 to 10 lbs more than Secretariat ever hauled around the track.

@@davidbracher8322 Hey listen I don’t care what you say nobody beats Secretariat in the Belmont 1973 . Is this
some kind of joke come on with that . The Bid is great horse not better than Big Red . The Bid would have never been able to go on with Red . No way think what you want , never tested every race is a test …..any jockey any weight does nt matter a freak is what he was . I will never take anything away from the Bid .

@@domgia8280 Just to clear things up for you. There is no distance, including the mike and a half. That Secretariat was faster than Spectacular Bid..not one!!! When the Bid broke the world record for a Mike and a Quarter, he galloped out in 25 flat. That out him at 2:22 4/5 for that distance. 6 lengths faster than Secretariats Belmont...and he was gearing down for over a quarter mile. Look some people believe that the moon is made of cheese. But doesn't make it true. Again comparing a restricted runner to a champion like Spectacular Bid, is the gravest of insults. Please stop! Ignorance is getting inexcusable. Maybe you should read a few books about that era. Listen to the people who saw and witnessed both horses..educate yourself. Now if you want to compare Dr. Fager or Swaps with the Bid. That would be a worthy debate
