- The DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Inspire 2 are both incredible drones, but which one is for you? Lots of factors weigh into which drone is right for you. They are both outstanding.

Thanks, for the comparison. Love my Mavic 2 Pro!
Great video! thanks for the review! Do you happen to remember what codec, format you were shooting on the inspire 2? I have the inspire 2 and I'm considering the Mavic 2 pro as a smaller travel drone for smaller and personal stuff. Do you have either Proress or the raw license unlocked? Because the h264 codec that comes standard with the inspire 2 is really crappy, heavily compressed with a very anemic and disappointing bitrate, the difference with using proress or even raw is night and day. I know the mavic 2 also boasts of a new higher quality codec with 10 bit log encoding with a much better bitrate then the inspire 2 in h264 shooting. That would make the comparison really unfair imo to compare the I2 h264 to the mavic 2 pro. So which codec was it for I2? Thanks again for the review! Just a curious observation/ curiosity
Thanks for the review! Just upgrade from the mavic air to the pro 2!👍
Your past few videos have been so cleanly put together! Great job man!
Love your video!! I’ve been contemplating an upgrade from the mavic pro to the mavic 2. With the negativity out there I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. You sure seem to like it though? Thanks again
Sorry to bother - you mentioned you had a matte film on your ipad. Can you please tell me which one? Does it help when it's completely sunny out? I'm tired of throwing a towel over my head. Thanks!
Would you say the 4K on the Mavic 2 Pro in D-LOG is good enough for a big wedding project... and easily matched to the GH5 footage? I use GH5 and P4P for weddings but would love to downsize to a M2P to make my gear bag smaller (1 man show for now!!!)...some of the intelligent flight modes look amazing on the M2P a well!!!
Yes. No doubt.
Question what would you recommend? . I am going to buy the Mavic 2 zoom or pro tomorrow. trying to decide. I have a spark and the inspire 2. the inspire 2 is too much work to fly and transport. i want the range and and the flight time. I want it to be sharp out of the drone. So many you tube reviews complain the pro is not sharp as compared to the zoom? what do you think? this is a hobby not work.
Mavic 2 Pro. If you have an inspire, you’ll love that camera.
Keep these coming, Scott. Good work, very useful infos, you're doing a very good job! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💭
I now can’t wait to get my Mavic2 Pro....😉😎
I understand that you can use a second remote with the Mavic 2. So, that makes a difference when have the need for a second Camera Operator on the Camera.
Which camera was this shot on (inspire 2)
Scott, you should be able to switch to 2.4 on the video transmission from the 5.8. Sometimes, the 5.8 band (or the 2.4 band) is more heavily used than the other. When you lose signal like that on the video transmission, sometimes swapping it will fix that. Maybe the Inspire 2 doesn't do that in flight. I have the Matrice 210 RTK which allows that. Hopefully, that helps you.
The phantom 4 pro has been a great workhorse for me and it's a good compromise between the two. Smaller then the inspire and has the 60 fps.
Yes it a nice option for sure. Not as portable as the mavic though which to me was the biggest downside.
I love the p4 pro. I was thinking of getting the new mavic, but I don't think the image quality is as good as the p4pro. Oh what to do, LOL! Wondering if p5 will ever happen.
Germain Media, LLC mavic 2 can record 10bit in h265 what more do you want lol..plus it doesn’t have that artificial sharpness that p4pro has which is glorious
Should I upgrade my mavic 2 to inspire 2?
Sure.
vlog is looking krispy Scott ! Happy thanks giving
Great video! you can get heated batteries for the Mavic 2 now since the Enterprise came out.
The video disconnect issue is firmware related, there is a previous version of the firmware that does not have that problem. Look it up!
mind comparing the low light videos? air vs 2pro vs inspire 2 ? also image quality again lowlight included and how long can u push the shutter before getting blurry ^^ already own the air and thinking of upgrading ^^
FYI - There's a loss of sharpness after f/2.8 on the M2Pro - adonbuckley.com/words/2018/9/3/mavic-2-pro-aperture-performance You'd think it should be the opposite but I guess at that kind of small sensors the diffraction starts much earlier. It didn't matter for the sake of this test but I thought it's worth mentioning.
I have both the same aircraft and the Inspire 2 is very easy to hand launch and catch - it's just heavier. The M2P sensors always want to evade your hand, so it is trickier to catch.
You can move the Mavic 2 camera by a touch and hold on the screen
Yes but not in the opposite direction the drone is flying.
@@scottmckenna Yea then you just flying backwards isn't it?
Oh don't act as if you don't understand. It is a huge advantage to be able to rotate the gimbal like that you simply set the drone to fly forward and you simply play with the camera
Which is better? inspire 2 or Mavic 2 Pro?
Two operators, big project = Inspire 2, backpacker, traveler= Mavic2 🤓
Exactly.
No disconnect either on my Mp2 in areas I would get them all the time with P4P
Happy thanksgiving, I hope you and you r family enjoy your day. Be well Scott...
nice review!
what kind of foil do you use with your ipad?
Matte screen protector.
With the Inspire 2, flight time and range is a good comparison, but you can not compare the camera since the Inspire can support a variety of camera's and lenses. So not a fair comparison there.
very cool Scott! I agree with you. I still need to get the Inspire 2 for certain things but, the Mavic 2 Pro is a amazing drone and a must have. Happy Thanksgiving brother..!
What ND filters do you use with the Mavic 2 Pro?
Polar Pro Cinema
Scott McKenna cheers!
Thanks for this Scott!
Everything Else in this review is fine and well told, but the image quality... Seriously, have You even filmed footage with Cinemadng -raw video on Inspire2 ? If You compare image quality, I think You should be taking Raw video and ProRes In count and perhaps lenses? Its kinda the selling point of Inspire 2. Of course both Drones has their purpose, but image In terms of image quality, there is no contest at all.
Ideally your antenna's should be straight up and down parallel with the drone for best performance
Isnt a valid comparison. Inspire 2 shots in 5.2k Raw 4.2 Gbps, but you shot in h.264/265, in only 100 Mbps. It can record 42x more information. RAW video is the main feature of Inspire 1/2 with a X5R, X5S or X7, shot in h.265 is waste money.
The 4K h265 in the inspire 2 compared to the mavic 2 pro is so much better you honestly can’t even compare it when you’re working in a professional environment. You’re literally comparing a Panasonic GH5 to something like a GoPro Hero 7 black.
Are you comparing Inspire 2 RAW vs Mavic H265? Cause testing the best of the Mavic should be tested with the best of the Inspire. No one buys a Inspire to shoot H265 :)
Thanks for the video, Scott. I have found the range is MUCH better on the M2P. I am also finding that I am flying the M2P more than my I2. But like you pointed out, there are significant advantages to both drones and that is why I also own both. You might enjoy this short video I recently did that has the fall colors with fresh fallen snow. Both I2 and M2P were used for this. ua-cam.com/video/9XQCeg3_RyA/v-deo.html
That is some really soft Inspire 2 footage. I dont know what to say other than I have seen MUCH higher resolution images from The X4, X5 and X7 cameras. From some really strange reason, your Inspire 2 just looks really really soft and mushy....especially in trees and bushes. The Mavic Pro? That's it's normal image.
You can control the camera on the mavic 2 as well. It’s exactly the same
Yeah, I thought the same. Of course, the gimbal has less movement range on the Mavic 2, but it’s still a great feature! Also, maybe that feature was added after this video was made, so maybe that’s why he didn’t mention it.
The tilted horizon on the Inspire is triggering me
iPads can't handle the video stream from the Inspire. That's why I've moved to the CrystalSky.
Yes I want one of those for sure.
My disconnect issues dropped massively once I ditched using the Android phone . Apple works much better. Can’t say I notice much diff in my iPad and my Crystal Sky (when I had to use it)
how did you crash a inspire 2 that thing is rock solid wow
When active track fails, that’s how.
What codec did you record in on the Inspire?
I actually think the Mavic 2 Pro image quality is not impressive at all!! Especially when seeing them side by side.
The range is simple: Mavic = 11 miles - Inspire = 4.3 miles
Looks like got used to the old iOS control center while turning off flash 😀
Wish we could fly that in Germany. Laws are insane over here...
The usa will welcome you with open arms
Too bad the 2 Pro doesn't use the full 1" sensor.
Scott I really value your wedding videos but your drone videos make me cringe.. you're breaking a lot of rules. For those of us who are more involved in the drone world, we are constantly dealing with regulations and those who don't follow them creating MORE regs.. So I'm glad to hear you're getting your license.. you've been using the drone in your wedding videos.. which technically is a commercial use.. You'll learn all this when you study for the test.. Still love your videos.. but PLEASE .. don't show examples of 'range tests' that are illegal. This encourages the unsafe operation that will end up harming our drone industry and their use in photo/videography.
I’m a part 107 pilot so I’m not sure what rules you think I’m breaking.
I’ve had my license for over a year also. Thanks.
3000' distance has to be beyond VLOS for a Mavic
@@scottmckenna
Not from where I was flying at 250 ft high. I flew a straight line.
Sorry.. I saw more than one video.. you have an older one about unlocking no fly zones and said you were getting your 107.. my bad.. @@scottmckenna
you can do @ with the mavic 2 pro
Watching this even though I'm just going to buy a cheap tello
your flash was on:)
