A good solution for dokkan is to implement a way to test a character in a preset stage with a pre set team. Many other gachas do this and it can reduce private server usage
We have friend leaders and they already do this.
I've been playing Dokkan F2P/light spending on and off since the start. I have over 1,000 days logged and have cleared all content on my account with most units in my box. Dokkan is the only gacha I know of which has private servers like this. Personally, I enjoy them for the potential they give us for custom units. I've not seen a single person talk about the dozens of hours of effort some people are putting in to create units that have unique animations, kits (with mechanics that don't exist on vanilla) and even OSTs. As I've already completed everything in the base game, I enjoy playing new content in a meta that sits above vanilla, and it's fun to see how the original devs have created units that far eclipse what custom units and EZAs were capable of a year and a half ago. PS also help some stay away from predatory gacha practices financially, which I think is incredibly important. I don't really touch the vanilla units on the server, because I can use them on the actual game once I have them.
That being said, there are serious problems with PS as they are right now. Like you talked about, they create those annoying "edge case" videos where old units are somehow able to clear content they're not meant for. There are PS developers who are making money off code and an IP that isn't their own, which is a massive problem and should (legally and morally) see them shuttered. And I think the discussion around PS has become far more toxic than it needs to be, although this might be an indictment on the state of Dokkan Twitter more than anything else. I think in this regard there needs to be more transparency about where people are really coming from with their arguments on the merits and harms of PS.
At the end of the day, I really think the game's terrible and outdated codebase is far more of a threat to its longevity than PS, and I don't think its infrastructure problems are discussed enough. Dokkan was never meant to last this long, and the massive app size and slow loading times are evidence of this. A game consisting pretty much entirely of 2D PNGs and a few animations per character should not be more than 3GB, let alone 14GB. I know people who had to delete the game because it grew too large for them to keep on their phones, so this issue might really weigh on the game's ability to retain active players if it continues. I personally expect (and hope) that the "improvements to data downloads" feature mentioned on the roadmap will fix these problems. If they make the transition to server-based storage and unit disbursement, not only would the game be much leaner, but PS and data download mining might be casualties of the changes. If that happens, unless there is a workaround, all of the benefits, problems and debates surrounding PS will more or less disappear.
PS can be fun, but I would treat them with apathy at best and it wouldn't hurt me if they went away. They provide new opportunities for creative expression, crossovers and what-ifs via custom units, but are also inherently problematic from a legal standpoint. They allow early testing, but also muddle perspectives on units' performance. And they gave one creator a livelihood, but at the cost of weighing down on another creator's own. They will continue to be a mixed bag until they are closed down.

well that's not to say that there aren't any nuances with it cause people spend a lot of money on the game and sometimes they don't even get the units that they actually want so i reckon its fine cause dokkan doesn't actually give af about modders otherwise they would've been done with them ages ago but here we are. but i understand your point about the blabbering at the start like who gives af whos the real nerd.
and my guess about why they don't really care about modders is because they earn enough money already from the big whales that play the game and people that don't know how to make the private server function

Truth is a hypocrite out of necessity. If he could snap his fingers and make private servers go away, he would. I think the venom towards private servers is seemingly disproportional to the actual harm they cause, but they are without a doubt a net negative for Dokkan. Dokkan operates similarly to an MMORPG, the game that is only "free" for everyone because enough people spend money to generate a profit and the potential for free to play players to maybe on day become playing players.

Nano has at least double his subs and Nano collabs with Diddy a lot so they both get more views than DaTruth, the way that DaTruth gets views is through his knowledge of the game, Nano and Diddy get views because of their personality and their interaction with the game. Both are good things
about the farm bot problem. its not about beating difficult events very fast. its more about making bot accounts that farm out f2p stones and then sell those accs. but the biggest problem they cause is they fill up the friend system with sr and r's friends.

One and only thing I found favorable about private servers is being able to use any team be it shitty or not.
I've played the game for 3 years (and ongoing) and what I don't understand from them is that they want player time but they implement these limiting factors like the friend system and limited attemps.
I can't speak for anyone but that saps my fun for the game ALOT. I summoned for these characters, put time into grinding them up, only to not being able to use their team? People were crying that cb requires you going outside the game to get a score but say nothing about the friend system?

Secondly a singular cb friend has 2 teams setup for you. It's the same. For both you have to go outside the game.

Skipping banners is part of the game. Been playing since 3rd year anni and have always picked what banners I want to summon on. I dont think it makes any opinion less valid if someone doesnt summon on every banner, the games designed to get u to spend money like that.

I feel like the most ethical way of running a private server would be to not limit access whatsoever and have a donation or patreon/youtube member system setup that is funding it. The key difference is the server itself is free. Even if the server is locked as a benefit of the donation/patreon etc. it is still monetizing that IP that you do not own and is illegal. If you want to take it a step further, make a donation goal that equates to the servers costs and dont allow donations past that point, this is a bit much, but would be the most ethical way of running it since dragon ball is not a public domain IP.

I havent followed dokkan content creator's in years.
I never found an issue with the private servers tbh but, i didn't know truth complained about it. I always found him weird when i watched him. He just didnt completely sit right with me. Content creation is a hard battle, you gotta do what, you gotta do. I see both sides of the coin though.

Frankly I dont like the private servers personally. It just trivializes the game. However I do understand the appeal, but the challenge and excitement of Dokkan for me comes from getting good pulls after saving hard earned stones either form playing events or buying (granted Ive prolly put 2k into Dokkan over the span of the 6 to 7 years of playing) and putting together teams with the resources you have. Whats better than getting an LR from a lucky multi summon? Obviously my perspective with the game doesnt work for everybody but when you can get every single unit fully rainbowed doesnt that kind of get boring and defeat the purpose?
The day that Dokkan finds a way to encrypt their data downloads better is the day that Dokkan private servers die.

I been playing on global for 2k days and reason why I hop into private servers just so i can experience unit on jp early on. 6 month of wait can be very painful so why not?

I beat every mission and grinded all the f2p unit and eza rea unit, i got over 2mil power level i still grind real acc just fine 😂😂I only on the private server for 20+ minute like once in a while, but in real acc i spent almost 6+ hours of my daily grind. I have no problem with private servers, I view them as a way to test units and they probably don't take as much money from the actual game than people think since people already skip tons of banners.
I think pvt servers do the game no service , the argument of the game shutting down is poor due to the fact there would be announcement or a foreshadowing for this and a pvt server for the community could be created. As the game currently stands it will slowly kill the game

I feel it’s either get rid of private servers completely or just be ok with people using it who cares cause even though truth spends thousands on Dokkan that shouldn’t put him on some pedestal it’s his choice to spend that money and if you use the logic of he uses it for early content which I see as worse because he puts out showcase videos days before most UA-camrs which pm removes their opportunity for views

The amount he spends doesn’t have anything to do with it. What’s fun about having everything spoon fed to you? It’s like buying a game and adding a 100% file day 1. Most UA-camrs do early showcases so he’s losing out by not capitalizing on it.

I dont think you can critique Datruth about using private servers while he also complains its bad for the game and not call him out that he spends on money on the game every banner and also tells players to not spend money like he does.
He does both because its for his content and he also is transparent about the bad sides of them. He's not being a hypocrite hes being open and honest about it and never acts like hes above any of it even if its bad. He tells you its bad and warns you but to be a content creator currently you have to use these morally wrong per say methods and Datruth says it himself he wished he didnt have to but its almost a must.

Hypocritical? All Truth does is make 1 early video, because he practically needs to. If he doesn’t, he won’t be getting as many views as he would, because of all the other people doing early showcases. At least he’s no Dokkan World making 500 videos before units even drop. When it comes to views I don't really think it matters. If people want to watch a unit's attack and defensive stats on their screen, their going to watch the one where their max attack stat is on the thumbnail and the video gets straight to it, not listen to Truth blabber on and on for the first 5mins of the video.
People watch Truth because he actually plays the game, summons, and beats the category missions. Who deserves the viewers who click only click the first blingly thumbnail and title they see is irrelevant tbh the algorithm decides.

Even without the private servers we wouldn't see more diversity in UA-camrs simply because Dokkan is not a very popular game, the community is decently large but compared to the amount of Japanese f2p players and whales that put their heads down and grind the game in silence it's nothing.
Truth uploads half an hour long videos like 4 times a day, Dokkan world is pretty much right up there. Even the most dedicated of dokkan fans just go do something else afterwards, there's simply not enough eyes on Dokkan for that kind of growth. Smaller content creators are just there to scratch the itch of the 20 Dokkan adicts that still aren't satisfied after the 3 hour long artificial life form suffering arc part 4.
The problem I have is that Truth doesn't stick to his guns. He'll go on a 30 minute tirade about private servers but will in the same breath make a private servers video for a unit that hasn't come out yet. It IS hypocritical when he is actively benefitting from private servers, instead of showing more moral fibre and abandoning them all together.

Need for Speed World shut down, but people are running private servers where everything is acessible that usted to be p2w, and they add more stuff of their own to the game like cars, rims and bodykits. They are good to keep dead games alive.
