Biggest outlet air sealing protip if you're ripping drywall off: airfoil outlet boxes They have a flange that seals easily against the drywall, and a special slot for caulking the wire penetrations
@@BlossomPainting yeah, I've resorted to using oversized outlet plates, and also cut and filed flashing to go behind even oversized ones where the drywallers really screwed up (alot).
Nice Idea for the novice, there is more to sealing an electrical box than just at the sheetrock level. Don't get me wrong, making it look nice is a big factor, but sealing the openings before they rock is just as important at sealing for air infiltration. Learn to use that calling gun - early on.
Yea but you're supposed to remove the receptacle or at least pull it out. I got something like these years ago from a drywall supply. Don't remember what they are called, but it's not really new thing.

Love the content bud. Learn so much from you.
Wish there was something like this for after the walls were already mudded, textured, and painted.
An oversized outlet plate may work ,,, or these days I see flush mounted plates.

Agreed on the sealing, but I'll use this on my own house for any miscuts as it's definitely stronger than any paper or fiba tape.
I would like to buy hard copies of all your books
I just purchased a pack of these. Should I use hot mud or all purposes joint compound when using these? Thanks
Any all purpose works best. No real need for hot mud here
Pretty cool
What’s the best way to put joint compound above the bathroom sink where taking caulk off ripped the drywall paper?

A little 90 and mesh tape works better for the cost. Good idea for a beginner
I've use a LOT of mesh, but for this, it's not strong at all. I would never patch a box with mesh. Fibafuse is a 2nd best choice.
@@ThatKiltedGuyDIY pre fill the hole with 90 let it harden.
Fibafuse and quickset. Done
Done it that way many times, but this is stronger and good for 3-4 sided misses, and seals out the air better.
