Golden Needle Challenge without using any discards.

Prof probably calculated everything like a heist so he can keep getting away with everything.
Not really ,
He could've just discarded as he would lose 5 dollars max and would miss out on delayed gratification.
Not that much of a gamble but still a crazy run.
Minor optimization: when you're buy-selling with a joker cycle spot, I think it makes sense to use the Judgements - you get more sell value and you get a shot at getting a times mult joker. Great vid as always, crazy that you took this build to ante 12
10:35 this is some bug with hieroglyph + the needle (edit and also golden needle challenge), ive seen it happen to other people before. i think its because the hieroglyph sets ur hands to 0, but then gives +1 hand if it goes down to zero, and then the needle also activates first and sets hands to 1 so you end up with 2 hands
I think it's not necessarily hieroglyph but just how the 0 hand failsafe works. It doesn't work like regular hand additions from jokers, instead taking place after the boss blind effects, so the boss blind set the hand count to one, then the failsafe triggered, adding back another hand.
I think it also had to fo with boss that gives only 1 hand
@@TrimutiusToo yes thats why i said the needle, although i now realize that could be interpreted as the golden needle which is also important to the glitch i think

I wouldnt miss a day of school if I went to Balatro university and this gentleman was my professor.
He gambled the entire run on drawing a pair on the ox boss and didn't even mention it
He could have use a discard there though

I managed to finish this one on my own, after lots and lots of tries, but I'm probably going to have to wait for your advice on the jokerless one
I actually finally managed on my own! If anyone was wondering, other than luck, the keys were:
-I went all in flushes instead of flush houses as I previously thought would have been better
-Got lucky and got both shop prices down, got every planet card and card enhancement
-Used all deaths to multiply a polichrome card from a booster pack
-At the beginning, prioritized multipliers on cards, after ante 5, I went all in glass

I think you got two hands because you were at zero so the game tried to add back one hand, but the boss sets your hands to one no matter what. Therefore the boss set one hand and then the game added back your “missing” hand

I thought the same thing. My guess is the plan at the start was to avoid discards and he was running with it.
Hey I have a request, could you possibly try go for like a seeded negative run for a nan infinite Baseball Card run? I saw how you can get alot of jokers on black stake so I was thinking maybe you be able to get a forever baseball card and some uncommon joker and try to get a high score run that way. Anyway I just thought it would be interesting.

Just wanted to say got my first unseeded e26 score. So close to beating the final ante rounds but i needed one more hand size for how I built the deck. Probably would've had it on plasma but oh well. Thanks for all the tips!

7:15 it makes me happy to have someone finally realize, it pays for itself. Many people and often even you skip past it without even considering when it is just a totally free gold card in your deck
Haha. I assumed Heiroglyph/Troubador would autolose so I didn't take them on this challenge. Both of my good attempts (miscalc boss 8, then win) ended up making use of the discards with Delayed Gratification. Nice run!
I just beat this challenge and while I struggled I thought it was a pretty fun idea. Many runs were lost to the 0 discard boss, but I got lucky and didn't hit it on my winning run.

10:32 i think your hands got set to 1 because of needle, and then you got +1 because you bought Hieroglyphe and had 0 hands

Welcome to the channel! There's a lot of trolling on the Challenge series, this one was a bit more up-front though in that he didn't want to discard at all
I'm not sure what the unstated troll was, all I know is that one time he picked up Drunkard was a bit wack
@@1unar_eclipse they were probably talking about skipping burned joker. and i thought picking up drunkard was an actual good move because it helps banner. unless i'm missing something which i probably am since somebody else also thought it was troll
@@1unar_eclipse He explained why he grabbed drunkard, it gave him extra more chips for banner and more money from delayed gratification. He couldn't use discards so he couldn't look for his gold cards anyway, he predicted that he'd get more/consistent money from the extra delayed gratification money
Idea: Extending the infinite jokers runs with Ectoplasm. You can get Perkeo -> Ectoplasm, play loads of ectoplasms in a round and then win the round, then land in a shop that has the Paint Brush (edit: not the Grabber) and get your hand size back to 1.
Neat idea! But I think hand size and number of hands are two different things. If you have to start a round with a hand size of zero, it’s an instant loss no matter how many hands you are able to play.

The problem is that, even if you can't see it, there is negative hand size that's stored in the code, so the paint brush voucher won't do anything

Not much of a challenge if you just reset until holographic on first joker. These runs would be funner to watch and a lot more tutorialized if you memed less (which you only do after setting up your advantage position) and played whatever came

How can we tell it is not a seeded run?
In general, the seed will show in red at the end of the run. Also, in settings menu, the seed is shown for seeded runs but not shown for unseeded runs. However, for Challenges specifically, there is not currently a way to start seeded runs.
The drunkard didn’t work it didn’t change your discards, you had six, then six, but when you sold it went down to five?!?😮😮
He had 5 when he took the drunkard, the petroglyph voucher had already reduced it by 1.
tbh i think burnt joker was an auto include. youre spending 4 dollars on planet packs to get a pluto, why is it not worth spending 1 dollar (and 40 chips when youre already safe) to upgrade high card every round?

At 12:40 why not pick burnt joker? You said that it cost $1 to discard, and literally proceed spending $10 for the telescope voucher + $8 for 2 celestial packs. So basically you spent $18 and only level up high card twice, with the same amount of money you could have use burnt joker to level up high card 18 times.
Btw love your videos as you teach really well and always make us think more in depth about everything. Keep it up with the good and quality work!
He was doing the run without discards, so the burnt joker wouldn't do much.
