I made these saitan sausages and I must say they are the best vegan sausages I ever made. And I made a lot. With different recipes. Instead of wrapping the sausages in foil, I wrapped them in a tea towel and then steamed them over hot water. After steaming I wrapped the sausages in rice paper and pan fried them because I didn't have enough time to bake them in the oven for 30 minutes. They were really crispy on the outside. Great.
@@lenora-yoder Yes, in one towel. I place two sausages perpendicular to the short side of the tea towel. Then I roll up the sausages one turn, then the next two sausages, another turn until all the sausages are wrapped. On the outside I close the roll tightly with a rubber band. It's a bit difficult to explain, I hope you unverstanden what I mean.
You are absolutely the best !! Best world wide I’ve checked every ones recipes and by far yours are the best and your explanation is super lovey and so informative! Even your chicken cutlets recipes are the best in the world at least to me I’ve tried everyone’s but they did not turn out has nice has your ! Thank you so very much for sharing to the world I so much appreciate this and I live in the Maldives and coming in contact with your videos are a blessing! God bless you!
👍🏻Thanks to talented creators like you I don’t think I will ever run out of new recipes to try. Great video! I am happy I found your channel it has so much to offer. I make UA-cam cooking videos too! I love learning new things from talented creators like you!! I’d love to learn more together! 🧅🫑🥔🥦
Pehaps a stupid question, but did you ever try to steam the sausages in the rice paper instead of the foil? Or won't that work well? That would be a grear way to avoid the foil if it works...
Hi I love them, they look amazing, and tastier that the supermarket version, I am not sure if I can make it work, I will try this weekend! Can I steam them with the rice paper or the rice paper has to be afterward? Thanks !
In Germany we don't have browning, I used instead a mixture of sugar beet syrup, tamarind paste and soja sauce. Together with the vegan broth, water and salt it was a good broth for soaking the rice paper.
@@anningl2588 thanks! I ended up using Worcestershire, miso, vegetable broth cube, soy sauce, liquid smoke and “maggi” seasoning for the browning I’ll try your version next time! Btw I read you used a tea towel, is it the one that is like a nylon net? With very small holes?
Have to try out this recipe. Retail store products are getting more expensive but the quality is getting worse. Not worth buying anymore. I've used clear plastic kitchen wrap before to wrap and steam.
@@mkaspersen9135 I have mad them with white cannellini beans. You need the tofu or a bean .... VWG and liquid alone makes for horrible seitan, in my humble experience
The rice paper is genius to get that snap!
first time making this and my goodness this was absolutely delicious thank you

@@anningl2588 I think so, thanks for the info! I'll definitely be trying this method soon
You can also wrap in cheesecloth to help keep the shape. Remove cheesecloth (wrap in rice paper if you have) and fry.
They look almost perfect! I will be trying this recipe instead of buying some next time.
I love your recipes, with VWG and washed too! TFS!!
It’s amazing how much they look like real sausages… Thanks so much! 😊
The taste must be terrific, with these spices 🥰
So nice to have something different and versatile. Thank you.
Wow, they look so delicious. Well done.

Great mix of spices.
Wow that looks good, l will try this and thank you so much for sharing 🙏
Thank you for doing the heavy lifting here. Excellent walk-through!

Great idea for using rice paper!

Fabulous! I'm new to vegan eating

I would suggest adding the rice paper once they are cooked. 😊 Thank you!
I hadn't thought of using rice paper in this way, thanks! Time to go make some seitan sausage. :)
Yes, it’s so good!
Yum! I will definitely have to try. Can you explain why the tapioca flour? Thanks
I use it to cut the vital wheat gluten flour down.
Increases stretch
🌕”Awesome! You’re amazing!”🌟
Thank you 😊
Like an artist.
Hi I'm new subscriber This is awesome I use same VWG .Thank you for sharing this.Yummy!
Thank you! 😊🙏🏻
Could the sausages be frozen? they look very good❤️
Yes, it can be frozen without the rice paper.
How refreshing to watch a great video without that irritating background music. thank you.
Una pregunta. Es harina de tapioca o, fecula de tapioca ?
What is browning? Nice video

@@tearsintherain6311 Not all Worcester Sauces are vegan.
@@anningl2588 I didn't think any worcestershire sauce was vegan?
Yes, there’s are some vegan options ☺️
Thank you Yessica. I am uncertain what the weight of a half a block of Tofu is. Could you please forward that to me as I am eager to make your recipe
It looks like it’s 8oz of firm tofu
Yes, it is 8oz 😊
Maybe use backing paper instead? If it doesn't hold enough another layer of cheesecloth can help...
How many grams of tofu do you use?

Where can I buy vital wheat gluten
I order it on Amazon 😊
I bought some from Kroger. I’m sure they have some at Whole Foods, maybe Sprouts as well.
Do you get a true snap with rice paper
It definitely adds to the consistency if cooked /baked correctly.
anyone got any tips on cooking sausage-shaped seitan without using foil in this way? reusable / zero waste would be niiice :) thanks in advance!
Didnt tested it yet, but I thought of using these fake sausage skin made out of fabric, that is used in industrial sausages.
Plastic wrap also works
@@chavenyenketswamy1498 but that wouldn't be zero waste or are these reusable?
@@crayven You can increase the gluten content so its firm enough and can be steamed without foil or plastic wrap
I’ll find a way! 😉
I made these (minus fennel, I hate fennel). They are so good! Exactly what I was looking for.
There is a way to do this recipe with seitan made from wheat flour directly? There's no (except really expensive) pure vital wheat flour in Brazil =(
You can definitely do the washed flour method, I’m sure they would be great 😊
Washed flour is fine. You're blitzing ingredients together anyway
Aliminyum folyonun direk teması cok sağliksiz dikkat
Yes, I rarely use foil for that very reason. Thank you. 😊
What the heck is browning ingredient?
Search UA-cam for browning sauce. Jamaican cooks burn sugar and add water. It adds color and flavor. Easy to make
Напишите пожалуйста рецепт на русском языке! Очень прошу!
Contains SOY!
which is amazing

Unnecessary but it does boost engagement
Do we need the tofu? I can't have soy right now.
You can use a vegetable stock instead

You can use mashed potatoes instead of tofu.
White beans like navy beans is fine. For blood color u can use red beans
