So far I have poured away the water with the starch from the saitan production. I find this use very creative - I like it. It's motivating and honest that the first attempt in the pan is also shown; that's happened to everyone in the kitchen after all. About the fat: It is at least healthier fat👍 Greetings from Germany
Oh wow! Your channel is solely plant-based! I've been thinking about transferring from vegetarianism to veganism, and your videos are very interesting to me.
I really liked the fact despite you being a professional chef I being a regular guy, we both struggle in not letting a crepe stick to a non stick pan !
I just made this, needs some more practice but its already amazing, thank you for this amazing, clear and straightforward video. Look forward to making more of your recipes!
So excited to try it! Did I get this right: you add water to the reduced starch soup? How much more or less? And my starch has formed sticky lumps on the bottom. I can liquefy them again by stirring. Would you recommend that or just use the liquid part?
Hard to say how much water because it depends in how much you have drained the starch. You want the consistency of a thin batter like a crepe batter. Thinner than pancake batter but not too watery. Practice in a couple and see how it spreads. You can always add a bit more water to thin it if too thick.
That's Tibetan street food called Laphing. One can get these in India too. The dough after steamed tasted like boiled soybean and starch crepe is so soft. My fav❤️
I make my crepes on a cast iron comal but have also used a regular cast iron skillet. They hold heat and are non-stick. thanks for making a video that looks easy enough to try. :)
Watching this and the seitan videos, I'm impressed by the re-use of "waste" ingredients and the inclusion of screwups. Not just acknowledging it, but also using those too, outstanding. Given that gluten and starch are both insoluble in water and they're both cooked, how well do either the seitan or 'bacon' hold up to wet dishes like a chili or stew? Could we use Worcestershire sauce in place of the maggi seasoning if we're not vegan?
The seitan holds up really well. The starch bacon would not. It's almost like a bacon cracker. Yes, you can change up the seasonings however you like! I don't think only vegans have to enjoy this! Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any more questions.
I originaly watched your chicken seitan first, I been trying to find recipies for my hubby and I's "meatless mondays". I used hen o' the woods for the flavoring, and it rocked the "chick'n" so nice. This "bac'n" is next on my list!
I made the seitan with spelt because I am allergic to conventional wheat. The texture was good, but it lacked flavor. Even after cooking it in the broth for over an hour & letting it rest in the broth in the fridge for a couple days. I am making the “bacon” now. Doesn’t look as good as yours, but it is a decent substitute.
I haven't tried spelt myself. But this basic seitan process does need more seasoning when you use the shreds in your final dish. I like to use this for bbq, tacos, etc. where I am adding more flavors. You can try to season the seitan with flavorings cut into the dough before simmering to get more flavor.

I find this use very creative - I like it. It's motivating and honest that the first attempt in the pan is also shown; that's happened to everyone in the kitchen after all. About the fat: It is at least healthier fat👍 Greetings from Germany
Yes. Definitely healthier than saturated animal fats.
Oh wow! Your channel is solely plant-based! I've been thinking about transferring from vegetarianism to veganism, and your videos are very interesting to me.
Thanks. I hope I can provide some inspiration. Take one step at a time and just do what you can do.
I really liked the fact despite you being a professional chef I being a regular guy, we both struggle in not letting a crepe stick to a non stick pan !
Yes, the struggle is real. For the record I am not a professionally trained chef. Self taught and trying to make decent food at my winery.
Thank you for blessing me with your channel
You are so welcome.
I just made this, needs some more practice but its already amazing, thank you for this amazing, clear and straightforward video. Look forward to making more of your recipes!
Awesome. Thanks.
I remember seeing sultan advertised when I was a young person I never did know what that was. Thanks for the education; I plan on trying your recipe
Awesome. Thank you.
Amazing recipes! Don’t stop what you are doing 😍
Thanks. I won’t.
My fav❤️
Yes. Very similar. Thanks.
I make my crepes on a cast iron comal but have also used a regular cast iron skillet. They hold heat and are non-stick. thanks for making a video that looks easy enough to try. :)
Yes. If it is well seasoned, it would work great.
I am so glad I found this channel!
Thanks for stopping by.
your videos are amazing!!! thank for that!!!!!
Thanks for watching.
This is awesome. Genius and zero waste!
Thanks
Now this is super cool! Had no idea you could do this! Super helpful and well explained, awesome job my friend!
Hey! You're recipes and explanations are awesome.
Greetings from your new fan from Braazil.
Thank you very much!
I'm new to vegan. I love your videos. I feel confident to try your recipes. Thank you
Thanks so much.
I originaly watched your chicken seitan first, I been trying to find recipies for my hubby and I's "meatless mondays". I used hen o' the woods for the flavoring, and it rocked the "chick'n" so nice. This "bac'n" is next on my list!
That is awesome! I'm glad it worked for you. Thanks for watching and let me know what else you want to see!
Looks great! I'm m buying what I need to start making washed flour seitan, so Im anxious to try this bac-n also!
Hope you like it!
Tried your seitan recipe and it was amazing ❤️. Next up is this one
So glad!
Excellent video, this & your washed flour seitan instruction video is great. Subscribed.
Thank you
I love your demonstrations. Getting ready to try them now!!!!!
Thanks so much.
@@ThePotThickens You are very welcome!!!!!!!
Obrigado. Por favor, me avise.
