    It's sad looking back at this and hearing that the children that just experienced something traumatic are the ones who are telling their city council how to improve laws to prevent this from happening again. The children shouldn't have to worry about this, this is something the adults and those that got voted in to serve their city should be looking into. Very upsetting.

When Australia had the port Arthur massacre they changed the gun laws in the whole country and now we don't have mass shootings anymore, people can still get guns but only certain types under certain conditions and you have to store them safely, this is what needs to happen in America if you have any hope in hell stopping these shootings.

      I have been saying the same. The Columbine tragedy should have been the point where schools took extreme measures to ensure our children’s safety! Long ago, bulletproof glass should have been installed- inside and outside of all buildings. Metal detectors should have been installed. Clear backpacks should be mandatory, and safe rooms should have been built in every classroom. We live in a different reality now, but our school systems prefer to use money on useless, unnecessary renovations! When are our children’s lives going to matter, when it’s too late! Gas stations and banks have bulletproof glass…its infuriating, shameful and heartbreaking our children aren’t guarded.

    I am in no way undermining the severity of the tragedy here. But stats speak for themselves. Our youth is at most risk for suicide/mental health issues and substance abuse related problems and death. Mental health issues dont always lead to school shootings, but every school shooter had mental health problems and suicidal tendencies. Our kids need help more than ever NOW. Yes we need stricter gun laws and mental health checks. We know this. But it is nothing more than a small bandaid on a ever-growing infected mental health wound that will only continue to grow and get worse until its addressed

    Even if you took away guns people would just try mass stabbings it's not like it would end

    • @vshazam
      @vshazam Рік тому

      Bear with me. During the trial of the shooter at the Aurora movie theater, evidence was presented of his plans to commit mass murder. He ruled out a chemical/biological agents, as well as explosives because they require a lot of research and the risk of harming himself before using them on others. He also considered using knives, but decided against it because he would get too few kills. He chose firearms because they were the easiest, quickest way to kill so many people.
      Even a demented psychopath understands how hard it is to kill so many people by stabbing.
      No one is claiming gun control can prevent all murders, or even all mass murders. But it's absolutely delusional to think there wouldn't be a significant impact on how many people will be killed by these people who want to commit mass murders.
      And to be fair, it's totally valid to believe that the right to own firearms is too precious and 17 dead students is a price you're willing to accept to maintain that right. Just don't try to weasel out of saying that with some clearly B.S. "but knives" argument.
