He wiped the mat with Floyd Patterson - twice! But he gave up his title sitting his stool to the young man from Louisville - a disgrace - and then he laid down in round one in their rematch. Alfred that, he had lost his reputation for good. But one of the greatest ever, no doubt about it.

With my 6.9 and my 175, I can but take a low bow to this giant of a man from another generation who could step back in a ring after a . 357 gunshot, damaged intestine and hip and a dead kidney and still endanger his opponents. Great respect!
I know Sonny Liston won both of their fights but I saw those left hooks of Williams MOVING Liston. If someone offered Liston a Goody's headache powder after those 2 fights I imagine he took them with thanks.
