This is why I keep all of my perfume samples, coz I might change my mind about those perfumes in the future. Bal d'afrique is my most worn Byredo perfume at this moment, despite the fact that I can't stand vetiver note.
I loooove this! Never thought it would smell like it does, I was so surprised! I don't smell the vetiver much, I think it's fruity floral slightly greenish. Unusual!
I LOVE Bal D' afrique and bought 2 botlles for my boyfriend. On a man it gets more masculin, it amps up the vetiver I think. So clean and fresh, woodsy.. Dont know WHAT it is ( normally a gourmand girl) but this went straight to my heart :)
I just ordered a full bottle last night! So exited to wear it once the weather gets a little more warm outside. I was never really interested in the brand but now im curious to discover more.
I think your description is spot on, and I felt exactly the same as you at the start. a year later, I bought the 12ml x3 discovery set online together with black saffron & gipsy water. This way I have enough variety for a while to keep me interested and not spending on other perfumes 😅 I
Fruity, lemony sorbet opening, with some creaminess ... 🤍 the entrance really sounds good ...overall, it seems like it’s a nice fragrance .. i have been so curious with that one and a handful more from the house...
I love Bal d’Afrique more than their popular scent Gypsy Water. My husband doesn’t like it though but he does like Sundaze which lasts on me throughout the day which I know you weren’t a fan of before. I was sent Casablanca Lily, Byredo Night Veil collection and I enjoy the scent but doesn’t lasts more than an hour on my skin.
I was let down with my sample expecting to be blown away so mailed it to a friend in Ontario. Now I wish I gave it a chance but I kinda don't think it was for me.
I love the smell of Byredo Bal d’ Afrique because of it’s uniqueness. However, it doesn’t perform well and it doesn’t last long on me at all. I have to reapply every hour or so. It’s not worth the money! Narciso For Her EDT and Prada Infusion d’Iris give the similar vibe and they’re much better in performing and longevity.
I look forward to purchasing Bal d'Afrique. I have Gypsy Water and love it - perfect for summer - refreshing, citrusy, with some depth beyond other citrusy scents.
I purchased all three. Waiting for gypsy & bal d’afrique. I tried ghost and passed it to my daughter! I didn’t care for it but now I’m wishing to try it again! I should’ve waited a bit to pass it a long. :(
I love biblioteque but it's a heavy scent. I have tried a couple but didn't agree with me, especially sundazed. Need to try bal d'afrique..I have a sample just haven't gotten around to it.
Bal D'Afrique becomes too masculine on me (but it's a constant problem for me, unisex fragrances are still masculine for me) it's nice but it's not for me.
i recently got the discovery set to try and there were many I enjoyed-Bal D'Afrique, Rose of No Man's Land, Gypsy Water and Mojave Ghost were all lovely. because you can redeem the purchase of the discovery set against a full size bottle i wound up with a 50 ml of Rose of No Man's Land-I am a bit of a rose collector and this one is so unique-a rose that is simultaneously fresh and airy, but also rich and spicy-kind of amazing. none of the fragrances are loud but they all are compelling and draw you in. Bal d'Afrique was almost my choice instead...that may be my next one. :D
I kept thinking about what the scent reminds me of and I can't help but it reminds me a lot of Cacharel Noa, but it's less sweet and less intense. But it smells very similar, at least to my nose...i like it :) but i think that Cacharel works better for me :)
I have it and love it!To me the longevity is great. I personally want to ger from the extrait line Tobacco Mandarin first and then Renier and Sellier are also great. From the regular line I want to buy Black Saffron and Eleventh Hour. What "season" do you want to explore in Byredo?
@@DeliciousDelights 👌 then you should try Mojave Gost,Gypsy Water, Blanche and Rose ofno man'sland. I haven't tried Lil Fleur.... But I've tried Flowerhead and it's not for me.. but if you like a perfumed garden then you should try it 😉
I use to love this fragrance but the latest bottle I purchased smelled different as if they reformulated it. I even purchased a second bottle to try again and the same thing - quiet different from a few years back.
Great review. I have the Byredo mojave ghost dry shampoo and it smells great, but the hubby doesn’t like it. I want to sample more from the Byredo line.
Personally I find that it has a tinge of armpit smell or that odour you get when you sweat, and then you mix it with perfume. I’m not sure of its the raw cedar. But I find it disturbing.
Nice fragrance but the projection is not great, i went to the niche shop in antwerpen, they let me test something like bal d Afrique. Audace from profumo roma is beter than bal d Afrique.
To be honest I’ve found the whole line very by the numbers, or I should Say “very scent algorithm driven”. It’s seems typical of those lines like Le Labo that come to prominence in the 2010’s.
I think this one smells like hairspray, a pass from me. I like Gypsy Water but it’s more of a skin scent with very little projection. I don’t think this line of fragrances are worth the money
I sampled bibliotheque and I really really enjoy it but I just can’t afford it or justify that price point for it 😞😭 Idk why I even tried it lololol I’m hoping I just get lucky and win a giveaway for it.
If anyone knows a similar, cheaper option please let me know! I know someone suggested “bottega veneta eau de velours” but I’m worried it might be too spicy. I think I just really love the peach and leather together in the byredo one and I love peony too. Might just have to keep searching though for something less expensive that I like more and gives me the same vibe 🤷🏻♀️ I’m fine with saving up and maybe buying something up to $200 that I really LOVE but it would have to be full bottle & byredo is $200 just for a half size 😭
Depends on noses 😊 I didn't know anything about this brand, when I tried it first and Bal D afrique stood out and I was : "WOW, what iiis this"?? So for some it really feels unik 😊🥰 But I guess a lot of people doenst feel this love either. Love
Hey guys? What's YOUR fave Byredo fragrance? I'd like to discover this house more and would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks a bunch! :D
I tried a bunch of these at a local boutique and they were all too herbal/green for me. Sad :-(
Bibliotheque
Gypsy water
I absolutely love and am obsessed with Bal d'Afrique! Mojave Ghost and Gypsy Water are also quite lovely.
Same here🤩🤩🤩
Mine too

Great description. The dry down is most important and you covered it well.

Wow! He must really love it! :D
@@DeliciousDelights Haha.. He does 😅 But he went from 20 years only using CK ONE, to only using BDA 😅
I just ordered a full bottle last night! So exited to wear it once the weather gets a little more warm outside.
I was never really interested in the brand but now im curious to discover more.
That's awesome! It really is such a gooorgeous one...hoping for nicer weather soon! :D

I absolutely love Bibliotheque. I also own Gypsy Water which is pretty for the warmer months. Unnamed and Bal d’Afrique are on my buy list.
I was let down with my sample expecting to be blown away so mailed it to a friend in Ontario.
Now I wish I gave it a chance but I kinda don't think it was for me.
Ate, testing it, di ko gusto, pero once mag dry down sakin, ang stunning ng scent, medyo skinscent din na woody. nkkainlove.
I largely agree with your assessment of this one, thought I don't get sweetness like you suggest with the sorbet reference.

Thank you for this review! Do you think Bal D'afrique is good for layering? 🙂
It's worth a try 😊
Very unique and relatively long-lasting on my skin
My favourite Byredo fragrance is Rose of no Man Land 😊 The rest of them I don’t really care much about
I look forward to purchasing Bal d'Afrique. I have Gypsy Water and love it - perfect for summer - refreshing, citrusy, with some depth beyond other citrusy scents.
I really want to try that one! I keep hearing great things about it :)
I absolutely love Bal D'Afrique and Contralto, by Sospiro .Very similar fragrances, but Contrato is very very long lasting
Bal D’Afrique is my first love
Black Saffron
Mojave Ghost
Blanche
I purchased all three. Waiting for gypsy & bal d’afrique. I tried ghost and passed it to my daughter! I didn’t care for it but now I’m wishing to try it again! I should’ve waited a bit to pass it a long. :(
I’m typically not crazy about vetiver, but I really enjoy wearing Bal D’Afrique. It was a love at first sniff for me.
I love biblioteque but it's a heavy scent. I have tried a couple but didn't agree with me, especially sundazed. Need to try bal d'afrique..I have a sample just haven't gotten around to it.

I think it s a nice one. It's more a cologne to me. You smell it in the background but it's impossible not to enjoy it and it last hours.
I love PULP! Super fruity and unique 🙂
Did you Test Mojave ghost ??? Would be curious what you think of😌
I did recently...hopefully I can review it soon :D

@@arikokkinou1120 Thanks! Ill try to test those ones soon 🤗
Great review. For my nose it is expensive dupe of Vetiver Tonka house of Hermes, but more floral when it dry down. I would say they are siblings
Oohh I LOVE Vetiver Tonka! Such an underrated gem! :D
Agree)))
Bal d'Afrique and Sundazed are my faves. Gypsy Water is also good. : )
I absolutely love this fragrance 😍 it’s so good! I agree that it’s super versatile. Lovely review 😀
I also like SLOWDANCE ☺
It’s a top 10 for me!
This sounds like a fragrance I would like.
Hi.. could you plz try V Canto line?
I use to love this fragrance but the latest bottle I purchased smelled different as if they reformulated it. I even purchased a second bottle to try again and the same thing - quiet different from a few years back.
That’s good to know. I have a bottle I bought two years ago and it’s going to last me several more. But I won’t expect to repurchase it then.
:( Sorry to hear it
Great review. I have the Byredo mojave ghost dry shampoo and it smells great, but the hubby doesn’t like it. I want to sample more from the Byredo line.
strange that i also find it creamy though i know it has nothing to do with cream

My fav from Byredo is M/Mink

I Thinkt it smells like light Blue from DG
I think this one smells like hairspray, a pass from me. I like Gypsy Water but it’s more of a skin scent with very little projection. I don’t think this line of fragrances are worth the money
I love this fragrance I have this and hair mist I find it moorish
What does bal d Afrique mean? What does it translate to? X
African ball 😊
Can't smell it no matter how much I spray. Never had that experience before with any perfume. Very disappointing.
orange scent. don't get the creamy.
I really don't smell vetiver on Bal d'Afrique! I smell dried pineapples! weird! not loving it not hating it. I can wear it from time to time.
What is your ethnicity?
Canadian / Filipino :)
I sampled bibliotheque and I really really enjoy it but I just can’t afford it or justify that price point for it 😞😭

Paris 1920 from dua fragrance
@@phantomskirts thankyou!
You're welcome! They have 30% off today.
I got mojave ghost from Oil perfumery really good, i cant find the difference with the byredo original
BDA smells like pina colada. Pineapple and Coconut.
Eleventh HOur is my personal pick :)
This perfume is very, very similar to Oyedo by Dityque. I like Gypsy Water though.
So it’s a sorbet sherbet
Yes kinda...in the opening at least :)
Overrated
