So I have an Ender 6 that just arrived for my worksetup in the mail. But after my own research, I think I have a compelling argument here to getting the B1 SE Plus. All prices with tax and shipping included from amazon - ender 6 to stock website - B1 SE Plus Ender 6 stock on sale 490(ish) comes out to 520 with tax if you have prime - Core X-Y Semi enclosed - Creality Name - 250x250x300 Build - Rest stock as you would see on other enders - has snuck in noisier set of steppers and not so wonderful fans but with enclosure it's not noticeable. If you take the price and up your budget you can afford some silicon bed springs, direct drive h2, and octoprint for around 750$ conservative. ( Always depends ) and most people would call this a fully set machine. But on the other side. You could get Biqu B1 SE Stock for around 300-350$ - Better touchscreen with switch support to marlin - Bigger Volume 310x310x340 - Modular support following their platform without needing proprietary nozzles or parts involved. ( So you could print adapters and get their cheap upgrades or some other sourced ) - Noisier than Ender 6 because of no enclosure but same stepper and fan issue. Steppers are socketed for dual z upgrade around 30$ so sourcing less noisy ones should be easier. As well as fitting noctua fans in the power supply and hotend. For a budget raised to around 550$ including 15$ shipping - PEI Spring metal bedsheet to fit this non standard bed - Dual Z Upgrade + Linear Rails ( From Hermit Crab Tool Changer Set ) - Direct Drive H2 and still have wiggle room for rgb and octoprint or wifi cards. Also some ikea cabinet with the screen for a fully enclosed printer This is all my findings so my question is What am I missing out on? What other offerings are there that are comparable for someone willing to follow a guide on reddit to update this machine. Should I return the Ender 6?
NIce video. As a BIQU B1 owner this was interesting to watch. My B1 has a level assist function I would love on other printers. It prints a zig zag pattern accross the entire surface showing the mesh. This helps me level/tram the bed and showed me that the middel of my bed was slightly higher than the edges. About your Sunday video. Made me do a TPU ABS experiment. DO NOT PRINT TPU ON A 100 C BED! I had all my days trying to get it off. Hope I didn't bend my spring steel bed plate.
@@Yamagatabr I should think so. I used TPU to try and get bed adheasion for my ABS prints based on his other video, and the fact that I print 3 layers of TPU the switch to PLA for the rest of my prints. This gives me a rubbery, non-scratch base for my prints, so I can place them on wooden surfaces without worry of scratch marks. The CURA pause resume function works a treat on my Ender 3 and my BIQU B1. But my ABS, although it stuck to the TPU, it did not stick to the rest of the ABS..... LOL. I have given up on ABS for my printers. I now only use it in my 3D Pens.
@@MrGerhardGrobler nice! I think that PLA nees higher temp to be "sticky" even to itself, wil probably need an encolsure for that. At least, that is what I have studied so far, I will buy my first 3d printer this month. Have you compared the regular B1 and the B1 Se Plus? I'm trying to choose between the two, and it is hard. as far as reviews are concerned, the B1 seems more polished and quiet, and the B1 just have upgrades in relation to it's larger print area. But I'm not sure if I need its larger area and if it is noiser and gives a little more hassle and setup time with its BLtouch and Glass bed than simply using the magnetic one and regulating it sometimes.
@@Yamagatabr PLA is your least fussy filament. You can even print it on a non heated build plate. I haven't compared the different BQ printers yet. I have an Ender 3, Ender 3 Max and the newest, the BIQU B1. All of them can print TPU without an issue, but speeds of 10mm/s. The BQ is the only 1 that can print SBS filament at normal settings. Due to its well designed and all metal feeder setup. Depending on your budget. I would review all the printers in your budget. Ender's are well supported by the community. BQ has a growing community. I have managed ABS prints on the BQ, with a massive raft, and 100% infill with 0% fan, in open air. But the parts where small, and printed fast. I cannot tell you what to buy. I am lucky. I have 2 3D printing stores within a 10 mile radius from my home. If I have trouble, I can call, go in, and have the store owner help me sort it out. For the rest I watch UA-cam channels like 3DPN to teach me what I don't know. Also the reason I bought my Ender 3 Max.
Comparing to the Biqu B1: they replaced the nice magnetic spring steel sheet with a stiff ultrabase type surface? Ok, they added ABL (which can be added to the B1 really easy), but there seems to be no improvement too the extruder and the filament runout sensor. The TFT seems to be downgraded, on the B1 you can switch to Marlin mode and have nice menus for filament change, babystepping.....
Do ou giuys think this one is always best over the standard B1? I'm not sure ifI will use the larger print area so often and I don't know if its eatures ctually makes it a bit more of a hassle for smaller prints like, being noisier, more time to heat the bed, more time to take of the print, etc
Bought it after watching you unboxing. It died during first print. 70% thru print. Kept getting error E1 Please reset thermal R. The screen froze and dial did not work. Unplugged and replugged it restarted, resumed the print for about 3 mins got error again. Contacted BQ waiting to hear from them
Hey Joel, You can always have a small mirror on a printed adjustable bracket to set on the table such that when you having to screw in screws on the printers the mirror can be set and angled such that the camera can look at the reflection with a small LED light shining on the area so we see the printer side being set up that you normally can't let us see due to you needing to screw stuff from you side of the table! No turning around the printer to our view needed then and no 2nd camera needed over your part of the table.
And those free small amounts of filament they give out with the printers They all should have it on a recycled stiff cardboard rolls so they save money and we have a better test amount of filament which rolls off in to the extruder without getting messed up and the roll can then after it is used up be recycled again! Just idea? BTW, I Clicked the link for the printer here and it takes me to the UK Amazon site ( which is good as I am in the UK ) But the printer that comes up is this: So the amazon link is sadly the wrong one at least for the UK Amazon site?
Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the live stream. In general, the delivery package of the new Biqu B1 SE Plus 3D printer is clear. However, the bad thing is that the construction features of the 3D printer are not discussed in detail on the stream
Hi not sure if you’re going to respond but how do you slice stuff for this print? I used the biqu b1 setting and changed the volume and it didn’t level. Used the B1 abl setting changed the volume but it didn’t print in the middle but everything was printing on the left. Got any recommendations?
Hey Joel will you be looking at some of the smaller new 3d printer companies products anytime soon? maybe something like the Plybot instead of these generic ender knock offs...
@@3DPrintingNerd ^^ I am not native speaker. So you mean I should go with the Ender 3 V2 and buy upgrades as and when needed is the better option for me as beginner?
Have to agree, at least this one appeared to work though the print part we saw did not look that great, but it could have been different once complete. Maybe.
The stepper motor and limit switch having different coloured plugs AND matching coloured sockets is a nice touch.

Anyone happen to know the physical dimensions of this printer? Trying to figure out how much space I need on my shelf.

So is the rubber duck added because the brand name BIQU could be pronounced beak?

part of austin powers was that they were making fun of the misogony of the original spy/bond films

Just a hopped up ender 3, the market is just flooding with these types of printers. But at least the unboxing was good 👍
Fair enough! Glad you enjoyed it.

Why am I always getting notifications the next day? Do better UA-cam…. Do better
But sleeping too close to it would *not* be healthy with the fumes & all.
