This is awesome! Was looking for a video for vg30dett rebuild and this was a good step by step.
Good video bro nice job putting everything back together.
Love the color!
i've been looking for this! glad part 3 finally came out when it did. looking back on the rebuild what were your biggest takeaways?
Awesome video!
We need a video of you driving this
I'll see what I can do
Hi, great video, looking for a link for the CAS replacement?
I really wish u could set up a shopping list of parts needed for this build! bout to do my own and dreading it
It's something that may be possible as we have receipts for most parts. Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in and maybe I can make a spreadsheet on Google docs and share it
@@PistonheadProductions Awesome man. I would love to see that as well
Would love to see it
build is coming out nice building a 06 sti like this
Nice video.
I just picked up a Nissan Caravan Royal ‘96 (JDM) which houses the same motor. I’m looking for motor oil and filter recommendations for the VG30e, if anyone can offer any recommendations?
Hi can you please do a detailed video on timing marks fir the vg30
Good job
What is the oil volume i shoud put in vg30 engine please
I have a new one but the oil level bar was lost
Thanks
Good content ... But DEFINITELY could have done without the music. Why would you roll at the same time you are speaking to the camera?
Would it be easier to do external waste gates on these cars?
External gates would require more space so I think it would be a pain to do without a lot of custom exhaust fab
Man you're a smart guy so why in the world would you not have the fan shroud on? I mean you may as well not even have the fan installed without the shroud and save the 20 hp. it cost to run it. Oh, and when you blow one of those multi layered head gaskets, go back to the OEM ones and use copper spray on both sides. You'll be good up to 900 hp.
Fan shroud was destroyed so we didn't bother with it. The car has never has an issue with heat so I never bothered with replacing it. In terms of the headgaskets, the machine shop actually shaved the deck down too much because of surface pitting so the thicker gasket was a hail Mary attempt at allowing us to still use the block. So far so good three years later.
@@PistonheadProductionsthank you taking the time on creating a video on how to do this, saving me 2k
I'm building my engine now how did u know you where at tdc #1 when you started from a bare block .what I'm saying is no way to know if it's tdc on compression stroke or tdc on the other stroke .
You determine where TDC is when you assemble the engine. I can see piston #1 is at the top of its stroke with the timing mark on the crank pulley lined up before I install the heads. When I install the heads I line up the cams timing marks to where they need to be before setting them on the block so the timing is set before installing the belt.
Currently rebuilding my tt. Did you paint those valve cover or did you purchase them
They were purchased used from someone in the community and had already been powdercoated. Unfortunately, whomever did it, didn't tape the openings properly when sand blasting, and so I had to drill out the baffles and clean them. Definitely a good idea to paint unless the person powder coating knows what they're doing
Where the head bolts any different? I remember breaking something when I torqued one down wondering wtf.
No issues to make mention of. Just make sure the correct lube is used and if you locktite you torque them down before it dries
Is the purple powder coat or paint. If paint what color or code?
It's illusion purple powder coat from Prismatic Powders
Arp Fasteners and no forged Pistons? was the mains Honed for the ARP studs?
Upgraded pistons and rods were not needed as the power goals were within the capabilities of the stock engine. The mains were not touched.
Do you need the timing cover on because I think I seen some 300’s without it
Technically you don't need it, but if the car gets street driven regularly, it only takes one small rock bouncing up to take out the timing belt, and then you're having a bad day
After deleting all the emission stuff does the check engine light come on . If so how do u fix that
You have to install a delete tune in the truck in order to get rid of the check engine light. Most diesel shops can do a quick flash tune, or you can buy a tuner and do it yourself.
Whare do you get your rhd parts from
I get them from various sources. RHD Japan, CZP, Z1. GKTech
@@PistonheadProductions thank you I have to check out rhd Japan
