Pretty good for a Trumpet guy just doing some random doodling on the spot! Also, that thing looks amazing cleaned up. My HS had one of these things, but it was never in such good condition, looking every bit of the nearly 40 years old that it was back then.
My high school had a straight version of this clarinet. it was one giant tube with a bend at the top leading to the mouthpiece and another small bend at the bottom that went to the bell. the thing was so long you needed to sit on a tall stool to play it or stand to play it. it was hands down the most unwieldy instrument I've ever seen in person.
Unfortunately these paperclip contras are no longer in production and were replaced by these models you're describing (I'm playing on one right now in college). The paperclips were more structurally and acoustically sound, more portable, and could go lower. Really a terrible decision to discontinue them on ConnSelmer's part
Awesome sound and a fantastic series of videos. It never ceases to amaze me how some of the designs were created. Not with the repair technician in mind for sure! Thanks
Thank you, this is very informative. Do you carry Dark honey gold Lacquer (cognac) spray to touch up an Alto P Mauriat 67RCL Saxophone? or do you know which color number that matches it?
Hello! I have question, whenever I play any note on the oboe that requires the 2nd key on the lower section, the notes do not come out, I’m not sure if the problem is my embouchure, reed, or the instrument itself-Heres a video of what im talking about: ua-cam.com/users/shortsDsdyVU3jh48?si=GKI5s6b9Hco-UPR_
contra is my favorite. You and wes repairing contras recently fills me with joy. Thank you for sharing this!

Great job Art, you are a very talented man at fixing instruments and playing them. Have a blessed day!
What a beast!
Our school has an alto clarinet and a contra alto clarinet. One is nicknamed “the beast” and the other is “the monster”. 😋

Thanks
Always fascinating. Thanks Art and love to all your family.
Welcome back! Where have you been? What happened to the euphonium pistons sent out for plating?
Hey! What became of the Bach Trumpet repair project??
That's one big clarinet
And I thought the regular Bb clarinet was complicated!
