STORY
月野うさぎたちは、束の間の平和を取り戻し、普通の女子高生としての生活を送っていた。
その矢先、うさぎの恋人である地場衛がアメリカへ留学することに。衛の見送りの空港で、うさぎは衛から婚約指輪を渡される。ふたりが未来を誓った直後、衛は何者かの手によってうさぎの目の前で消滅させられてしまう。
衛が消えた現実を受け止めきれないうさぎは、その記憶を心の奥底にしまい込んでしまった。
そんな中、うさぎたちの前に、突如セーラーギャラクシア率いるシャドウ・ギャラクティカ、そしてセーラースターライツが現れる。セーラースターライツが敵か味方かわからないまま、セーラー戦士たちは圧倒的な強さを持つセーラーギャラクシアに、力の源である“セーラー・クリスタル”を奪われ、次々と消されていく。
ふたたび自分の愛する人たちに出会えることを信じて――。

この作画でセーラームーンが復活したのはショックだったけど、段々綺麗なキャラデザと作画になって感動しました

1期、2期のキャラデザは、原作の絵柄に寄せようとしたことはよくわかるのだけど…やっぱり漫画イラストとアニメは違うから、アニメはアニメとして美しいと思える絵柄の方がいいと私は思う。武内先生の絵は美しいけど癖がありますから…
クリスタルでの第一期、旧アニメとは違うけど正にセーラームーンのファーストコンタクトって感じで仲間の内部戦士達の友情やタキシード仮面への前世や現在での恋は心に打たれました。
こうして見ると1期からだいぶキャラデザイン変わったな。個人的にはEternalとCosmosのキャラデザが好きです。

すごく嬉しいです。
90年代アニメの四天王はどれも個性的で、特にネフライトの愛の死は号泣ものでゾイサイトとクンツァイトの最期は魅力的でした。
原作準拠のクリスタルでの四天王は原作にはなかった石言葉や内部戦士での恋中、励ましの言葉のシーンが追加されて、シリーズが違えとも新旧の四天王はどちらも好きになりました。
映画行く前にセーラームーン全部みてる笑

ダークキングダム編の敵は結構怖いのが多かった思い出
特に1話のはトラウマ物ですよね
旧アニメの45話のDDガールズとセーラー戦士の死も結構トラウマでした。
言っておくが、45話はかなり胸糞悪いし救いもないエピソード……
@@user-nq6xn3sn7h 当時視聴者(特に子供)がセーラー戦士が死んでいく場面を見て相当なトラウマに植え付けられ、視聴中に倒れたり、病院送りや登校拒否などが発生し、親からクレームが殺到し、テレビ朝日や東映動画にも訴えられる事件がありましたね。(自分はその当時に生まれてません、)
Can’t believe I’ve been following this series for the last decade! This ending is going to be insane! Also in hindsight how beautiful do these characters look? People were seriously way too harsh on Crystal, it’s amazing!

There is a HUGE difference in character designs and animation quality between S1 and the past 2 seasons. The disappointment people had with S1 is justifiable - The awful CGI transformations, wonky faces/animations, muted colors, etc and spawned many memes about the quality of the show. Yes, it improved and yes, it's nice they remade Sailor Moon at all but, if each season had looked the way that the Eternal and Cosmos movies look, a lot of people would have respected the re-telling more.
@@JS-hr2ft - The wonkiness was cause S1 had hardly much of a budget and manpower. Toei didn’t give the staff much funds and not even enough staff. Animators were working on episodes up to the day of their release and many were outsourced in order to get completed on time. So give them a break ok?
@@JS-hr2ft did you even watch the video? It’s nothing but animation from the first season which is what I was speaking to… In all seriousness if you actually look at the character designs, the first 2 seasons were the most detailed and honestly had the most effort put into them. Were there some wonky scenes here and there and some outsourced animation, sure. A lot of that was corrected on the Blu-rays. It’s also a magical girl anime and was given a magical girl anime budget. I also think a lot of people failed to realize that what the Crystal reboot as a whole is trying to emulate is the late 90s/early 2000s magical girl anime aesthetic. If you watch series like Mermaid Melody or Tokyo Mew Mew they deploy a lot of the same animation tactics that are popular in magical girl anime. The CGI transformations in all reality had some of the best SFX and choreography, Jupiter’s lightening, Mercury’s water, and Venus’s ribbons look superior to all of their 2D counterparts. Also given the context that this was done in 2014, 3D animation for TV shows wasn’t all that developed, especially in anime, it looked the best that it could at the time and in like I said in hindsight are some of the better transformations from Crystal. Season 3, Eternal, and Cosmos all increased in animation quality and fluidity, but they simplified the character designs to the point that it almost looks like they’ve aged in reverse lol. It probably would’ve been best to do the entire series in one style but it kind of works for each adaptation of the manga arcs. I’m really happy with first 2 seasons regardless, I still stand by the fact that people were way to harsh on the series.
I just want to say thank you sailor moon for making my childhood special. It is sad that the end is near but I will still watch it over and over again. Thank you. 💖💙❤️💚💛💜🖤

90年代の四天王(特にネフライト様)はめっちゃ大好きですが、Crystalの四天王はわたしの大好きな声優さんの竹本さんと鳥海さんが担当されててめっちゃ嬉しかった記憶があります☺️
90年代の四天王とはまた違った魅力で原作にはない内部四戦士とのやりとりも見られて本当に嬉しかったです。
セーラームーンの最新映画絶対観に行く！！
Crystal1-2期の監督が原作漫画準拠で作る為、90s版は観ない様にしていたとBlu-rayのオーディオコメンタリーで話していたんだけど。変身シーンなんかはめっちゃ90s版のものになっていたのが今でも不思議…。0からじゃああはならないと思うんだけど。絵柄は確かに1-2期が原作漫画の絵に1番近かったから、原作を参考にしたのはよく分かる。万人に親しみやすかったのか否かは別として。あと、この絵柄でいくならMoon PrideのMV並のクオリティで作って欲しかった。

リメイクを見る機会が無くて周りから作画に違和感があって声優も違うから見ない方がいいって言われる位、不評が飛び交ってた記憶。
まあ、旧アニメ版の構成もそれはそれで神シリーズだし原作に忠実なら画的にしょうがないのかもしれないけど正直、作画はこれより今公開予定の方が好きかも。

OMG, this is getting so real so fast as we're almost close to Sailor Moon Cosmos next month, my years of childhood watching Sailor Moon flashing in my eyes and I'm so happy and proud to be a Sailor Moon fangirl growing up watching this series as it makes me so happy, inspires me to be a better person, and reminding me that Love & Justice always wins every time. I love this show so much and the Sailor Guardians so much as they're my #1 favorite heroes of all time to me. 31 years of Love & Justice, Sailor Moon, thank you for always being the greatest piece in my life and forever and always you'll be the #1 greatest Magical Girl anime in my heart forever. Love the recap of Sailor Moon Crystal season 1. At the time, it was such a monumental return to Sailor Moon with a brand new universe based on the manga this time.
I wish I could speak Japanese to understand. But I am so thankful for the faithful adaptation of the manga. I hope we maybe get a prequel one day. Or a new story from Naoko-san. Thank you for making Sailor Moon ❤️🌙
I love the Dark Kingdom Arc, this season was amazing!
The amount of hate Seeasons 1 & 2 get is absolutely staggering. I mean the art really did get wonky at times where I was like "wth?" but literally every anime have wonky moments! It just seemed like an excuse to not watch even though it's still amazing. The storytelling itself is just so good. If they had to change the art style i wish they kept Crystal season 3 because Eternal and Cosmos resembles the 90's way too much in my opinion. Especially since the goal was not to redo the 90's but that's what ended up happening.
The writing isn’t even like the manga it heavily deviates from Usagi’s character in Act 6-12 (for example she never yells at Luna about Tuxedo Mask being an enemy and she doesn’t get flopped around like a damsel for 10 minutes with Zoisite; Usagi chases after evil Endimyon to save Venus in the manga vs Crystal selfish reasons. Oh and the girls blow up Kunzite in space) Then they tried to make an original plot that went absolutely nowhere causing the story and key moments to suffer.
Dark Kingdom in the actual manga is an amazing story. Crystal’s original writers ruined it because they literally stated they thought giving the Guardians love interests would make them interesting. That’s why fans hate it.
@@kstarnovagal6672 These are still very little changes in comparison to what the 90s anime did. And it was even closer to the manga in the other seasons.
The Shitennou x Senshi love story was Naoko's idea! She wanted to do it in the manga, but couldn't, due to time pressure. There's an artwork of the pairings, drawn by her. Also, they included these ships in many musicals, starting in 1993! Naoko has to supervise everything nowadays, do you really think they could've changed anything in Crystal, if she hadn't been okay with it?
I actually read the manga and own it for a decade so yes I know the picture, even in Sailor V it’s implied, however doesn’t mean they did well with it. That’s great the musicals are brought up because those are actually written well and show Crystal had zero excuse to botch the romance plot, thanks for that addition. If you also want to watch something with Naoko’s full supervision (which Crystal isn’t) watch Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (2004).
You can say the changes the 90s made automatically makes it bad, at least it had memorable authentic emotion. No matter what the 90s anime is the reason Sailor Moon is more popular than ever 30 years later to the point I see kids wearing 90s Sailor Moon shirts, so they did something right. Naoko loved watching it every week and was sad when it ended. There was more emotion in the 90s when Nephrite, Zoisite, and the Senshi dying in season 1 than the hilarious blast from Queen Metalia with the girls crying for a milasecond then forgetting about them the rest of the series. It came off as more comical and out of place than emotional.
Naoko also wanted to make Ami a cyborg that horribly dies in an accident but that didn’t make it in Crystal. She wanted to individually kill the Senshi in arc 1 and was very upset when she was not allowed but they could in the anime, yet that didn’t make it in Crystal. Just because she wanted to do something doesn’t mean it was handled well by the show producers, stop using the author as an excuse for a bad production team that caused the introduction to this series to be a stain until season 3 and these movies.
Also thats what the producers said in an interview, Naoko had no comments on the romance plot was handled in Crystal and still does not. There’s obvious reason why they changed the producer to a woman by season 3 who has been on the project for years.

The bluray (final) version of the first 2 seasons is pretty beautiful actually (besides some details), its draw style make it unique and not so generic like most animes... the last movies drawings looks so similar to the 90s anime that you know... that is a little boring in a certain point
Indeed mate. As much as I love eternal I loved this design for not looking so generic. It looked so unique and beautiful that till now I still think bluray season 2 is second to none. A seasonal beauty. It was seen just like the manga where the darkness of the story is rising. Season 3 was supposed to be even darker but it didn't.

I can't help but wonder what seasons 3-5 would look like had they stayed with season 1-2's style.

It's been a rough ride the past decade, but I'm so happy to see the manga fully adapted into anime form! I always felt Usagi and Mamoru's relationship is better in the manga. So happy that we got to the inners planet power and attacks. Love seeing all the sailors in the Sailors in their eternal and princess forms. Love seeing the Sailor Amazoness. We will soon see Sailor Kakyuu!

I would be all for Toei redoing the first 3 seasons in this movie format and art. They tried to take liberties with Dark Kingdom that just ruined the original story that they would have to rewrite it, they stole all the Senshi’s moments but Venus not getting to kill Beyrl followed by them all getting their butts kicked by the Kings then Metalia blasting the Kings was awful (when in the manga they killed them all chapters ago!)

絵柄は賛否両論だけど、俺的には1期と2期は武内先生の絵に雰囲気が近くて悪くないと思う
ただ、Season ⅢとEternal、Cosmosの絵が好き過ぎるだけで…(勿論90年代版も好き)
シリアスな原作寄りで展開もサクッと進んで行くからダレる事はないし、レイちゃんは正直クールな方が好きだな…

絵に動きがもっとあって、作画も安定していたら、もう少し評価も良かったはず...放送時勿体ないなと思ってました。3期から5期までのキャラデザも昔の様に可愛いから好きですが、原作に近い1〜2期のキャラデザも好きでした。

批判が多かったですし、試行錯誤していたんでしょうね〜。後は、最初ネット配信から始まったので制作費の問題もあるかと…！

キャラデザは寄せようとしたのはわかるけど、それを除いても作画崩壊があまりに多かったのは残念
でもセーラームーンはアニメとだいぶ違う所多いので、原作の映像化を見られたことは本当に嬉しかったです

Wow... I just got whiplashed by nostalgia because I forgot Crystal S1 (and S2) existed lmao
I remembered watching the episodes from Nico-Nico and had to wait two weeks (sometimes three weeks) for the next episode. It was an experience, both good and bad (but mostly hilariously bad).
The animation was fugly right here and there, the art for the blu-ray cover was an abomination of broken limbs, the inner senshi was a hivemind after all four of them were found, the entire episode three (god it was ugly and awkward), the "Grandiose" showdown of the inner senshi vs shitennou was nothing but a lifeless fan-service, Sailor Moon was the one who killed Queen Beryl instead of Venus (yep, they followed the manga... right...), and the infamous, most revolutionary animation in Toei history, A TWO-FRAME SPIN MOON HEALING ESCALATION! (I had so much fun bashing episode 13)
But I also had a great time watching Crystal and appreciate where it's due like the first act, Makoto's introduction episode, the beautiful (tragic) backstory of Princess Serenity, how they differenciate the movement in each of the senshi's transformation (Venus' blue ribbon was GOAT! Shame they had to change it on the 3rd season and so on), the OSTs were good and it actually hit you in the feels (Legend of the Moon being my absolute favorite).
Overall, Crystal was a rollercoaster of emotions. I love it and I hate it at the same time. But hey, if it wasn't for Crystal, we wouldn't get S3, Eternal, and Cosmos! Thus I must thank Crystal for it!
I L O V E Crystal (S1+2) and a like for Eternal - but I always wish it was another studio !!!
A studio which know what "Animation" is and a studio that works with the best technic at the moment.
Crystal is lovely when its close up, but it's a mess when its small. It's getting better when it was redrawn for BD release.
Season 3 is completly catastrophic! This style is the most ugly and absolutly not fitting with the ages of the Senshis.
People don't understand that 90's Anime is 90's Style - and Crystal: MANGA / Naoko Style.
Because of this whinny idiots this dumb studio changed the beautiful S1+2 Style and never came back to this Beauty of Yukie Satou design.
Season 4 got a bit better, but don't reach S1+2
Season 5 is still bad - but the Animation got a bit besser.

I have a question... Why you don't keep the animation the way it was at the first 2 season of crystal for me it's way better than the 3ed season of sailor moon crystal, eternal and cosmos. You should keep it the way it was
they got death threats from the entitled and ungrateful english speaking fandom, because it was not their nostalgia 90s, and they ended up firing the entire crystal 1-2 team.
that fandom also decided to tear apart those two seasons frame by frame, and manipulate said frames(photoshopped them and stretched them) to drive a non existent point.
crystal 1-2 had a very unique rich art style, that was harder to animate, and the animation of season 2 was the best animation sailor moon ever had.
crystal 3 was a simplified generic moe art style, that had worst animation than before, and eternal and cosmos are 90s nostalgia like the haters asked
First two seasons got ton of backlash from fans so they obviously had to change it.
The fans wanted it that way! You can't please everybody. Also, season 3 was produced for television (not "just" for an online release) and Eternal was produced for theatres, so they used to oppurtunity to increase the quality.
I did like the first art style, but I think it was the best choice to change it.

As much as I truly love sailor moon, they really did mess up taking away this art style.
