It's called a road, it's called a Rainbow Road from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! This was a suggestion that came up during one of my streams and I felt like doing it, so I did. I am very satisfied with how this ended up, lemme know what you think! I hope you enjoy what I chose to call "super chiptune" this time. Cuz it's like chippy but it's Super Duper, ya know?
I'd never actually played Double Dash prior to recording this video, and all I gotta say is that I'm amazed at how different and interesting it is compared to the ones that came after it. Double characters, character-exclusive items, and Diddy uses his DK64 voice lines which was a treat to hear. I think I also prefer the clean style to Wii as well. As a first-timer playing this, it honestly felt like I was playing a fresh installment. Only thing is that the controls hit me like a truck, as you can see, but I think I got it down eventually (do not bully me, the sun was in my eyes, or i guess the moon and the stars)

Double Dash's use of the N64 refrain always makes me smile, because to me THAT's synonymous with Rainbow Road, and any track that doesn't include it always feels sub-par (looking at MK8's vanilla RR). If the GCN Rainbow Road came back, *your* mix would be the bar that Nintendo's cover would have to clear.
It's a great use of the previous melody. I can kinda get why they didn't keep up with it, but that also makes this one feel pretty special

The section around 3:15 where you mixed in the SNES Rainbow Road theme and then modified to to fit the N64 Rainbow Row melody is an amazing nostalgic salute to the past!

Amazing remix!! I truly think that Mario Kart Double Dash is one of the better Mario Karts. It actually added several meaningful mechanics to the game that make it a unique experience and added to the Mario Kart formula. No other Mario Karts since have tried to be as innovative, even if they are still good games in their own right. And that is why Double Dash will always stand out to me.
I will say the steering control is really different from the other Mario Kart games, so it can definitely be hard switching back and forth lol
That's so true! It honestly felt like I was playing a fresh installment, it was that good. Aside from maybe the controls, which I actually kinda thought were quite interesting! They're nice and heavy, albeit a bit unwieldy compared to modern countrols
@@Waddoop Yeah, even though I don't think Double Dash's controls detract from the game, I still definitely prefer the tighter controls in more recent Mario Karts lol

Such a beautiful remix of such a beautiful song, and thank you for throwing in the SNES reference it was an absolute delight!
Double Dash’s rainbow road always had the best of the bunch. The difficulty of the original, the length of 64, the happiness of GBA, and of course being Inspirational for most after. It’s even the only one to reference parts of both SNES and N64’s opposite iconic themes.
Anyway, definitely worth a yeehaw!
Also, I must ask, was Dino Dino the one that gave Birdo/Yoshi the win….?
I think it very well might've been. This was my first time playing and some of those turns were rough, especially that one part with the wooden bridge. I kept wanting to go the thinner and faster path while drifting, and you can guess how well that went
Oh you don’t have to tell me… I still mess that up all the time, love that course though 🩵, the whole special cup from that game was so awesome.

After I got done recording the footage I found myself just playing it for fun! It may have just become my favorite Mario Kart game.
@@Waddoop Along with MK64 Double Dash!! is my favourite too! Neither are content heavy but man the gameplay is just so fast and frantic!
I grew up with 64, and I was very happy to hear that the lightning item still makes the same high pitched noise in DD as it did in 64, something that I believe they dropped in later entries
I remember loving when playing that the "Star canon would fire right before the "Classic part" kicks in i need a remix where that is added
So I was just listening to a song about suicide, and then the mood immediately changed from depression to happy colorful rainbows lmao 💀
that's about a +99 bump in positivity levels

Really brings me back...Double Dash Rainbow Road is one of my all time favorite Mario Kart Tracks, and this remix is just beautiful. I like how the song isn't too much different from the original (Most other remixes in my opinion are too fast in Tempo) but in its own way, you made it very unique. Of all the remixes I heard of this track, yours is easily my favorite!
