The cylinder heads on the 2004 have full threads ,not like previous years with half the threads for the spark plugs
True. 99-02 had the 3/4 thread heads.
03-04 were upgraded to the 7/8 thread heads.
03 and 04 models don’t shoot out the spark plugs because they come from the factory with the revised eight thread cylinder heads
A little information for you. The 2004 Ford Lightning cylinder heads have 8 thread spark plug holes.
I like this truck very much! I currently have the same year and body style but it's just the heritage standard v6. Blast to drive! If I ever have trouble with the engine I was thinking about dropping an eco boost in there! That would be a fun youtube video to document! 🤘🏻

Take the upper pulley off and just run the 4lb lower pulley. Nice tune and good to go.
The 6lb is very good too.
The upper pulley really isn't a great idea.

Waited on the list in the Houston area for a red 03. Almost caved a few months later for an 04 sonic blue. So glad I waited. Rip roarded the thing through sugarland w a 250lbs African American salesman gripping the oh crap handle. Gas prices were $3.65 for crap 89 gas. Now almost 20 years later gas is cheaper.

03-04 trucks came with 8 thread heads. That’s why they’re so sought after.
Bro you already had 8 thread count heads and put the motorcraft packs back on and belt slippage comes from a smaller upper. Just put a 4lb lower amd a metco idler bracket to take care of the belt slippage!
Man you have to go with the larger intercooler reservoir!

You wasted your money on those expensive trickflow heads if you bought them mainly for the spark plug holes with more threads because 03/04 came revised with 8 threads. Also, I doubt you would make 450 rwhp with just an upper pulley and heads. If you increased the boost some more with a lower pulley then I could see 450 happening.
03 red total factory. Dude I am so sorry about your situation. My guess is abuse by a previous owner. I have to stop listening to the mods it gives me a headache.
Hope you stayed out of the boost until you got it tuned. That’s one very quick way to ruin a rebuilt motor by failing to tune the truck the same time you increase boost.

@@WestonMooreTheCarDealer I have a 2009 Nissan Titan Se Crew cab 5.6 v8 with Clean AZ Title. 130k Miles. Small fade on sides but its only 600 to fix and you have 11,000!! Brand new American Outlaw wheels on Nitto Tires . Inyati Bedliner. Pioneer AVH 290BT Touchscreen with Backup Camera. 1000 watt amp running, wired for subs, all led lights. Towing package all power inside everything works perfectly. Just Serviced. Etc!

Im in germany and i got a silver one from the year 2000. Noone here in germany knows jack about american cars and engines and noone can help me with my problems of it running poorly. Seems to have not all of its power and a ton of oil spills out the airfilter (i assume from the pcv system) which also leads to smoking out the exhaust and its kinda ticking in high revs. Already replaced ALL the smaller easy to reach parts like you did but nothing helps. just wish someone would buy it from me because i cant afford that dream anymore :( really desperate, idk what to do... wanna come to Germany and help me find a solution xD? If anyone’s interested in the truck please let me know!
Oh Lord congrats on getting one of these gems. I'm in the US. Since 03 its fun or a curse but most Ford mechanics panic if I ask if they can flush transmission or change a coil on plug. How you maintain this vehicle in Germany, hats off to you. You have to maintain it yourself.
Compared to BMWs, in the US good luck w maint., you better learn that engine. w the L even a girl can scare ppl in just casual traffic with rhe power. Most Ford guys are scared if I pull in for service. Better to ask in advance, can someone work on them? Anyone gets flustered get the Hell out.
Read your full post and oh my God your poor baby has been abused! On behalf of the Lightning community your story is disturbing. My precious red rocket is invaluable. Zero mods at least 141mph. No helmet over 135mph gets sketchy. I wish I could magically be in Germany and fix your very abused truck.
Hi. You can do cahtcan oil . And eliminating. The rear Turkey pan hose .plugging that it will eliminate. That oil on your trodlle..sistem,,.I purchased from Harbor freight tools
Air compressor filter.paid 13dlls .work for me. Or you can paid $120 .00 for ford racing.. believe me it's just the brand.they work the same ..also check any air lines that leeks I did all mi hoses whit clamps.

oil spilling outta the airfilter? in large quantities? check the exhaust, , , friend of mine had too much backpressure because of a clogged exhaust that the car(supercharged mustang) was spitting oil out the intake.
30 seconds in I want to puke. This truck's interior is God awful. The engine? No thanks pass!
Edit girl owner of a red stock 03 Lightning . Got me out of hurricanes, owned anything challenging me to a street race asids from a modified Challenger SS with crazy mods. This vehicle was the best purchase ever. Will only sell from my cold dead hands. Only downside is the weight/sound insulation for the insane sound system. The alternator in the truck can take a serious beating.
