As always, buyers beware. If you go to a place like this, remember - have the vehicle up on a hoist. Look at the floor boards and the trunk deck. Look under the doors. Carry a tape covered magnet 🧲. Run it along the entire body. Make sure that you're not gonna buy a bondo baby. Lots of classic car stores like to concentrate on eye 👁 glitter by way of sheet metal shine. Pull back the interior carpeting. Look for floor metal patches welded over rusted floor panels. Go over with a fine magnifying 🔎 glass. It's your hard earned money 💰, unless you're a drug dealer with unlimited income, or you won the lottery and don't care that you're buying a sheet metal cosmetic shiney toy. These "restored" beauties are expensive. Make your money count, and not automatically into the sellers' Swiss bank accounts.
It's a consignment dealership, the owner of the car sets the price, prices are negotiable, some cars are fully restored and nearly perfect while others aren't. The sell an average of 90 vehicles a month and they inspect every consignment so they can tell you the things you brought up. I do agree with you that you do have to know what you're buying. Thanks for commenting.
@Driven2Compete my comment was not to single out this particular classic vehicle dealer, but there are vehicle flip shows on TV and for as an example, Boyd Coddington had a few great metal finishers, but as shown on many of their videos, there was gallons of bondo being used on each of their "restorations" and "special vehicle" projects. A classic car consumer like me knows that there are many shortcuts into making a barn find or junkyard special look like they came out of the assembly line next week. Some people don't care about a classic car being just eye candy. They just want to drive their dream car one more time before they die. I value a vehicle selling lot owner or employee being up front and honest in informing the potential buyers that what you see is what you see. It's very important for everyone to take extra steps to be very educated and informed on what to look for in a dream car. Many people save up for what seems like lifetime to buy before they die. Buying a piece of automotive history is an investment, not a simple day at the used car lot and buying a regular driver. I really enjoy your videos of what vehicles you have available. You really make some automobile dreams come true.
@jerrycallender9352 I never heard of sawdust being in the crankcase. How does sawdust mixed with engine oil get through the oil ports and lifters? The way I found out to quiet noisy rods and noisy rod knocks is using a heavier weight of engine oil. For instance, if the engine normally uses 30 weight oil, you replace it with 40 or 50 weight oil. The heavier weight oil really quiets a noisy engine internally. But sawdust? That's a new one for me.
Perhaps you're too young to have been exposed to the practice, and I did not claim that sawdust would make its way thru the engine, I was merely making a comment. @@rickprusak9326
