This is a pretty good little kit to throw in your cargo pocket. I'm not big on anything around my neck, not because of some choking fantasy that "MIGHT" happen, even though no one has ever heard of that happening, but just because I hate things around my neck, just like I don't have pierced ears, I have all the holes in my body God issued me, and I don't need anymore. I will say this though, I would add in some aluminum foil. Not to boil water in, but to make a funnel for your coffee filter. For "ME", I have never had any luck with them staying up right when wet. They always collapse on themselves. What I do, is take foil, crunch it up and then open it back up so it is full of wrinkles. Then form a funnel and place the filter inside it. Make the funnel so it's an inch or so higher than the filter, and fold that over onto the filter. That holds the filter in place and acts as your third hand so to speak, and keeps the filter from folding in on itself, and having unfiltered water in your clean water bag. I crunch it up to make wrinkles, because if the foil is smooth, I have found that the filter will lay against the foil and seal itself there making filtering VERY slow if not stopping it altogether. When it's wrinkled, those ridges create hills and valleys for the water to go through the filter and down the foil and into your water bag. It works really well, and then when you're done, just collapse the foil with the filter in it and put it away until next time. I hope I explained that clearly. Keep up the great work.
Great kit. I would prefer a bright orange whistle on a short length of chord and outside the pouch, even fastened to the pouch strap with a wrap of velcro. I'm currently building something very similar using a Viperade zip pouch to attach to my belt. I don't always take the same rucksack so I like the idea of a dedicated pouch. Thanks for your excellent content as always Alan.
Reckon you've covered most of the absolute basics Alan, maybe a bit of bankline for stronger cordage than the floss. The only other modern 'basic' is a powerbank. I've got a couple of really slender ones that are not much bigger than a credit card now that you can't swap round the batteries on most phones. Just an idea mate, thanks for the vid.
The only thing I could think of was to add one of your little straws filled with an electrolyte powder, especially if hiking on a warm day. and an emergency comes up. It can be added to the water to replenish electrolytes lost through sweating and will cover up the nasty taste of the water purification tablets.
How waterproof is the pouch? I've had a scout about online but couldn't find the Samsonite one, even on their own website to find out. Is waterproof something you considered, or is it less important?
There are quite a few variations on Amazon if you can't find a Samsonite one. Just search for " neck wallet passport holder & travel pouch" Hope that helps

Thank you for an amazing tip. I'll give it a go.
Thanks for watching and enjoy your day 👍

Cheers mate. I should look at power banks as my Anker 10000mah ones are pretty bulky.
Enjoy what's left of your weekend 👍
👍🇲🇾 Add 1 liter water to the water bag and mark the line with sharpie for your aquatabs.
+1 to that, exactly what I do with the wazoo bags. Cheers for watching 👍
One tweak I'd suggest is to add some t rex brute force tape cause it really is less likely to rip though you have to cut it off.
Never heard of that. Is it the same as tenacious tape? I'll have to have a look.
Thanks for your input and thanks for watching.
Enjoy your day 👍
@@p2snetwork i don't think it's the same as tenacious tape, it's a gorilla tape like product, a competitor brand.

Good idea, thank you 😃

To be fair very little is waterproof. That's why a lot of the bits and pieces are in ziplock bags.
Enjoy your day 😊

@@p2snetwork Yep, had a trawl on Amazon, plenty of options but no info about waterproofing. Wee poly bags it is then. Thanks.
