  • From air tools like hammers and impact wrenches to paint spray guns and tire inflators, a compressed air system makes a mechanic’s life a lot easier. And what’s good for the professional shop works just as well in the home garage too. But putting air tools to work at home is not as easy as just dropping a big honkin’ air compressor in the corner of your shop though-the good news is, it’s not that difficult either.
In fact, we made this video to show you how to install some compressed air lines and drops for your air powered tools right at home. Starting with our EMAX air compressor, we used a handy kit from RapidAir to run our 3/4 inch air lines and install our air fittings, blocks, valves. We also installed a few other compressed air system essentials, like an air dryer and some retractable air hose reels. Watch this install video and you’ll learn some tips and tactics that’ll be vital when it comes time to build your own compressed air system for your home garage or workshop.

The fitting that was installed at 8:28 had the teflon tape wrapped in the wrong direction....

Good video and explained well. I would like to have seen more about individual filters and regulators at each drop down, and how to choose the correct quick release for the job.
I have 9 drop down in my closed loop 3/4” Maxline run through 3 garages and a workshop. The air from the compressor passes through 100’ if 3/4” copper pipe in a switchback on the wall. This provides radiative cooling. Then there’s a drain and a connection to another 100’ of 3/4” soft copper tubing. The air enters a tank from below, coils up in a helix, then coils back down in another helix and exits the tank. Two solenoids are synchronized with the compressor to open valves for flowing cold water through the tank. After the this convection cooler, the air enters the 60 gallon tank.
Then the air is plumbed through the work area in a closed loop.
My drop down for air tools, blast cabinet and spray paint has an activated charcoal filter, a large desiccant filter, a 5 micron filter, a 0.01 micron coalescing filter and regulator. After the regulator, it splits into two paths. One for painting and blast cabinet and the other to a lubricators for air tools. But I don’t know what style of quick releases I need for various tasks like painting, blast and tools.
My air brush drop down has an activated charcoal filter, 5 micron, a 0.01 micron coalescing, a small tank for volume and a regulator. But again, what style and diameter quick releases do I use?
I went overboard on the pre cooling thing with all the copper. But I designed it and Damn It! I wanted to build it.
How necessary is it to have individual filters at every ordinary drop down? I think a regulator is a good idea, but not sure if Joe Air needs filtering everywhere.
    Thanks for your patience.

    Justin what a GREAT PRESENTATION!!
I never heard of flatting hoses? Maybe I need to deeper! Idk but thanks for your clarification, and demonstrating what these words meant seated, snug , or nice & tight VS torqued LOL 😅
    THANKS 🎉

Your dryer should not be that close to yhe compressor. The hot air out of the compressor doesn't condense the moisture until cooled.

It's not a dryer--it's a silencer for the exhaust. I have the same compressor.
