- Remote roof measuring with RoofSnap. Doing a simple roof sketch with RoofSnap. I like using roofsnap because it is totally cloud-based and available on all Apple and Android devices. As well as a Windows PC. I have used IRoofing in the past and I'm not a fan of it. At the very end of the video after the GoPro cut out unexpectedly, I threw a clip-in of me actually measuring to see how accurate the software is.

Hi, contrary to what you’ve mentioned, I notice roofsnap doesn’t measure accurately when the image is not straight down. So the measurement comes out asymmetrical, one side is longer than it should be.
Any advice?
Good question. I was concerned with that when I started to use it too. I have done testing with similar circumstances from my drone photos intentionally. The side that is larger accounts for the side that is smaller. Unless the sides are different, like one has dormers and the other doesn't. If it's a simple house the other thing you can do is if it's a hip house I'd make the hips the same length. If it's a simple gable roof, adjust your ridge line so your gables are the same length. Most of the time you can also use a credit to obtain the high resolution photo from near the map, and those are usually pretty straight down.

Sorry for the late reply I'm just now seeing this message. I used to use I Roofing. Roofsnap is so much better.
I need to get the actual LENGTH of the roof and not just the HORIZONTAL LENGTH that is 11,37 ft. (the degree angle is 38°) how do i calculate this or do i get a auto calculation of this with the 9/12 in RoofSnap report? Dronedeploy 3D veiw tool says the LENGTH is 14.57 ft (calculated with degree angle and just not from above)

what abut off cuts locations and sheet sizes and how many sheets go were or are you just yous this to get the m2 +pitch ?
Not sure what you're talking about with offcuts? Don't use the software to figure out sheet count typically I just take the actual size and divided by 32. Another simple trick is to take the square inch and * 3 is it quick rough rule of thumb to figure decking. It does a very good job a figurine measurements for apron, Gable, valley, hip, ridge, ridge vent, square foot, pitchfactor, facets, dormers, low-slope, two-story SF, two layer section, and much more, my primary use for the software is because it is nice to work remotely at home to get the leg work done. I can typically sketch out and measure a roof faster then setting the ladder up and starting the first couple sections with a tape measure. I do still go up on most roofs to get an idea of lair count and decking condition.
nice video - does roof snap have a pitch option like iroofing ? i was watching an iroofing video and they were able to go to a street view and run a line up one of valleys to get a pitch and then go right back to the overview shot and enter it in . thx
As far as an option to choose pitch for the correct math equation for usage yes. You can go to Google in most cases and get a street view provided they have the imagery.
