'They're Worse Than Dogs. They're Dangerous': Wild Turkeys Taking Over In Toms River
Вставка

- Some residents in an Ocean County, N.J. neighborhood says they are scared to leave their home because of troublesome turkeys. CBSN New York's Meg Baker checked out the bird battle.
Then November came along and the turkeys mysteriously disappeared overnight.
lol
I think the turkeys were doing a turkey protest about like “no eating our kind” on thanksgiving 😂🤣
WIld turkeys matter
In my neighborhood, sometimes you can see the turkeys walking down the middle of the street through the entire block like a gang that runs the neighborhood.
It's not your neighborhood anymore it belongs to the turkey gang 🦃
😂😂😂
Pretty much the worst gang ever.
@@Ioganstone lol. Yeah, it's hard to drop kick a gang member.
It's a blessing for anyone living in that part of town, especially on Thanksgiving.
I doubt people there dare slaughter turkeys on their own though🤣
🤣
@@marktan8074 "ooh the humanity!"
You will be very sorry if you hurt a wild turkey. You will get arrested, thrown in jail AND pay a fine. Much worse consequences if you kill them.
@@barb6868 That's what hunting licenses are for.
“You can run at them and they’ll run away”
I would love to see him try that.
that’s why it’s called Tom’s River. these seniors invaded their space. It’s right there in the name.
Lol... get off their turf..🤣😂
Came here to say this
They go to safety areas like small cities. They are not even indigenous to Oregon. Stupid asses brought them here to shoot and eat but they are breeding way, way more than nowadays and staying in areas that you cannot shoot them.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol.
Though, I think it was because some guy owned a bridge there 150 years ago.
So it's illegal to hunt them?
Cop "Sir I'm going to have to fine you for killing that turkey"
"Officer, it walked in my house, to the kitchen, and right in my oven at 450 degrees with butter and seasoning."
The people are more turkey than the turkeys; and the turkeys are more intelligent than
the folks facing them.
Wrong and wrong. And whatever you're thinking about in response to this is wrong, too. Unless you're thinking I'm right. And even then...
You missed an opportunity to call this fowl play!
Some people literally have food running up to their front yards and they call it a nuisance. While others go to bed hungry every night. What a cruel and unfair world we live in.
That's deep bro.
dumbass city folk. these comments have me laughing my ass off
Sin has fucked everything hasnt it
You CANNOT shoot them in most if not all city limits. So cut the crying. They shit everywhere! Come clean my lawn if you love them that much.

Number 1:
The fact that its TOMS river NJ cracks me up!!!
That's right. And those Tom's want their home back!
Yeah, don’t chase a group of wild turkeys! They can hurt you
I see a lot of commentator in this video, but only a few people here are smart, one of them, you. 👍🏽
YOU SOUND BORING
I easily killed one with a pellet gun LOL.
They are easy to deal with as long as you have something to bash them with.
I chase them all the time with a nice big stick or rocks. If you act afraid they will respond to fear. Let one of them come close to me...
If you are afraid of a turkey you are a coward
Meanwhile people are dealing with boar and bear. Any animal you can take on with an umbrella isn't that bad.
That's right...... Jersey people are Turkey Wusses!
SO WHOS THE REAL TURKEYS?
I have alot of wild turkeys in my area. XD There territorial. But there friendly as long you don't go around them. There's also other wild life in my area. The wild turkeys predators are bobcats, bears, snakes, Sometimes wolves and sometimes eagles.
They're friendly as long as you don't go around them? So they're not friendly at all, it's what you're saying.
the wild turkeys seemed like they’re some sort local mobsters..
"The turkey is the truly noble bird. Native American, source of subsistence of our original settlers, an incredibly brave fellow who will not flinch at attacking a regiment of Englishmen, single handedly!"
Benjamin Franklin from the musical 1776.
It's a loose cannon. It's a mini-ostrich.
Not a Pretty bird. Ben Franklin was right though. It should have been our National Symbol. One bird can feed many people. The feathers were used as Ink Pens/Quills. Wild Turkey's are actually quite smart. And the main reason...... No other bird in USA can turn Red, White and Blue in a matter of seconds like a Turkey can. There are next to no feathers down the front of their neck. Their head and neck can be blood red when angry. Turn light or dark blue or white when afraid. A pretty incredible animal I think.
What a bunch of babies.
And they have no natural enemies there, like wolves or foxes etc?
Raccoons, feral cats, opossums, foxes, coyotes, skunks, wolves, lynxes/bobcats, weasels, hawks, owls, eagles, etc. can and will kill & consume wild turkeys when given the possibility. They're not entirely immune to predators solely because of their defensive attitude every now and then. Also, living in an urban environment does not exempt them from getting eaten by carnivorous animals.
@@sparky3845 I guess the fact that there are many of them in a flock protects them from being attacked, no single animal can handle the whole bunch of them.
@@theresenydahl9531 That's safety in numbers! More turkeys in a flock increase their chances of survival. Not one lone predator can take on a bunch at once, that is, unless they get picked off one by one...until they're all gone. All done!
@@sparky3845 👍😉
well they are also much safer from those in a town, lot of food, it's basically a wild turkey haven
Thanksgiving is near and you know what to do🍴🍾🤣

Free food!
People like a few hundred years ago would be like oh delicious dinner has arrived.. and now people are like call the cops😢!!
Now is better than then.
I feed a group of wild turkeys everyday in my neighborhood and they’re harmless. They are beautiful and come up to me because they recognize my face.I love when they come out!
You’re part of the problem. Don’t feed the wildlife. Period.
The turkeys launched a counter attack. It’s almost as if they were organized.
The perfect amount of turkeys for a turkey restaurant
I love the turkeys that visit my bird feeders.
Tell your neighbors to stop feeding them idiots. That’s the only time they flock around like that is when people are feeding them.
not exactly. they're all over Barrington (Camden County NJ) and NO ONE feeds them - people know about them. I was stopped at a traffic light in the line of traffic one day, as a tom turkey and a hen were on someone's front lawn near the street. The tom, (this is unbelieveable) marched out to the front of my car and starting PECKING at my car! He wouldn't move! I honked and honked and finally had to put the car in park, get out, chase the darn thing away, while people (who were watching this ridiculousness) waited in line for the light. Yes, the birds are idiots, and no, you don't have to be feeding them for those daffy creatures to act stupid. In a neighboring town, this one tom routinely chased the FEDX and UPS guys, including, running down the street after the trucks pulled away. No one was feeding this idiot, he just moved in and took over the neighborhood until Animal Control took him away.
@Jessie Skes Believe me someone in this neighborhood is feeding them this is typical behavior. For one they are wild animals and wild animals in their true nature are afraid of humans so when they or not afraid of humans and they’re coming up to them that means someone has fed them and gained their trust. I live in New Hampshire out in the sticks and I have seen flocks of that when you walk up to them you can’t get close to them at all. I’ve seen other flocks of turkeys were people hade been feeding them and they’ll come up to you and eat out of your hand.
Gather them up and drive them into the country where they belong, these birds Eat and POOP A Lot !!! People should Not feed them !!!
I’m from NH also and well said rock on.
@@chuckcome2143 So true. We have a neighbor that feeds them and hundreds now roam our area. I make them afraid of me to keep them off my property. The follow the lady that feeds them and all I have to do is open my door and they run/fly away. They know what's up. Here next door in Maine btw.
A fitting name, Tom River, since a male turkey is called a tom.
city people be like "eeek" country people "HOLD MY BEER, I'M GET'N DINNER"
Fun fact: Wild turkeys injoy eating seeds, some berries, And nuts.
Warning: Do not mess with the male turkey. Specialy in the breeding season.
Oh well, i shoot them, it’s always the best during the rut lmao. JKJK, but seriously
I mess with the males and they quickly know who the alpha is. Otherwise they'll trap you in your house. They know the score.
I always see wild turkeys during the fall. When I was coming home there were some on the mountain on the roads in Boyers, pa. Before I used to live near an active train line in NJ I would see them all the time on the tracks crossing them to get to the woods or the river banks.
Carry around a roast pan. They'll get the hint🤣
Jeeze They’re just turkeys. I’d find it funny to walk outside and see turkeys walking around lol
It won’t be fun when it’s Turkey mating season, they have sharp claws and spurs and they’ll attack you sometimes
They crap like dogs and fight and eat all the food supply that little birds can't compete. I hate them now since my neighbor has enticed hundreds to live in our area.
@@obama_man9933 I say beat them with bats
This is my time to shine
Don't forget the forks & knives there Ev! lol
Listen people: It's food and you will win the fight.
Man... Afraid of turkeys....
Oh my God. This is a blessing
Hunting season
Bring your big dog out with you for a walk and hold on because the dog wants to chase them and they run real fast in at ll directions.
I like that they’re so firm in not leaving spaces humans came into 😆
A turkey is dangerous? - you have fallen to a new shameful low.
The turkeys are protesting thanksgiving day 😉
Poor people in the Third World can't believe the kind of things Americans complain about.
"Food is everywhere! I can't step outside without running into a walking feast for 8!"
Its like having a free food
people crack me up with their fear of birds lolololol.
me and the boys causing havoc
Lol I remember I was 6 I got chased by a turkey and it bit me 🤣
they have teeth??
Dinner time
They are all over the place in southern maine.
found a tom turkey in my backyard and walked it into a corner. it was fun seeing it run lol
They’ll attack you sometimes and they have pretty sharp claws and spurs
@@obama_man9933 good thing it was a coward
Send them to me. I'll have them for dinner with some mash, peas, stuffing, gravy and with cranberry relish on the side. If any of them are left, I'll have them for lunch with some leftover stuffing, gravy and cranberry between two slices of rye.
Same in my Illinois suburb outside of Chicago
Get ur umbrellas folks
Why would people be scared of food ? 😂
Idiot
Turkeys are harmless but a lot of animals that we eat are vicious and can kill people. You couldn't pay me to raise pigs.
They shit all over one's yard. Come clean mine up. There are over 50+ now and they love my large lawn to tyr and rest and breed on. I cannot shoot them in city limits. You really don't know what pests they are until they multiply like crazy and shit all over and you have to clean their shit daily off my lawn and sidewalk. Then one day you step in their greasy shit and almost fall. I have done that twice since their shit is also watery and you cannot scoop that up. I have a corner lot less than 1/7 of an acre including the area where my house is.
I really want to see some one go at these birds aggressively opening and closing an umbrella🤣😂
I have never seen a wild turkey that's awesome they are everywhere. Canadian Geese attacked me a bunch of times when they're with their chicks.
We have the Geese here and I thought they were crazy

“They’re worse than dogs”. Obviously these people never saw a pack of wild dogs taking down and killing a deer. I doubt the turkeys could do that.
If it was up to me I’d be cooking turkey every other weekend 🍴
reminds me of that south park episode....
Wrong time of the year
Guess some one told them we went with bald eagle as the national bird and there protesting.
We are seeing this now in Michigan.
Scared of food? Those wacky east coasters..
They taste great!
they so cute
My benelli would love to meet those lovely birds
You eat them for thanksgiving, what do you expect?
No, I do not eat them at all. They are flying shitters.
No😢🦃❤️
Those are those savage turkeys from N64 south park
These turkeys are protesting against being eaten on Thanksgiving.

It's so funny that Americans are claiming to be afraid of turkeys like seriously they are not going to hurt you the lady is like I don't know of anyone being bitten but I just go back into my house I bet people are calling into work saying they can't make it in because of gang banging turkeys waiting for them around their vehicle
I figured it out. There are so many turkeys because they can read. Your town name is Toms River and male turkeys are known as a tom turkeys. Of course they are attracted to that town.....LMAO
Turkeys: "Come my Turkey brethren let us smite the evil humans who would give thanks by feasting upon our carcass! This year...we take from them...EVERYTHING!"
