Geese tend to be oily but are good eating if prepped right; if they are fatty prepare them like pork and bear smoked, BBQ, pulled meat etc. especially for jerky, If they are migratory meaning they are passing through. If you live in the northern states and south you shouldn't see them during late spring April / may through early fall (mid October) You might see them in states that border Canada but usually in bird and waterfowl sanctuaries and very few in number. If you do see them especially in parks, golf courses, beaches, open areas with water they are resident geese. Resident geese are considered an invasive nuisance Just like pigeons, how they taste it depends on their diet, they are what they eat. I just witnessed a goose get a concussion from a golf shot to the dome at a driving range. Rest of the flock gathered in unison out of concern. It was quite something.
Sad thing is that we created the perfect places for geese to stay, why they want to risk everything in a dabgerous journey when they have all they need here. Their numbers are already big so they don't have a problem if we kill a few.

Most geese that migrate return to the same area every year. Within a mile or so. Resident geese only travel Luckily area I hunt is almost 20 miles away from the nearest golf corse or airport.

Bob Is The Builder Jacksonville Florida everyday all day 365 days a year they're here. That's why I say they're full of lawn chemicals. Well they say Muscovy are the best eating...... although I can't bring myself to do it as I've raised a couple from hatchlings.
Great....take the cyotes, foxes, wildcats food source. Maybe the ones who wanted to kill them off will have their children or pets picked off instead of the geese. They would probably just look at their kids or pet's being eaten as less shit in the world too eh?
Good grief. I mean I am not against goose hunting but why not just collect the goose eggs and give them to charity? Ever make a goose egg omelete? It can feed three people. Or...here's a better idea. There's something seriously wrong with the values expressed. Why do humans believe that they have the right to destroy the planet but heaven forbid that these beautiful birds leave a little mess.
The only reason there's an overpopulation of geese, deer, etc. in the first place is that humans have taken away the natural predators from the area and let prey species populations explode. Check out the flora below about 6 feet in the forests of the Midwest. It should be vastly lusher, but most of the native species have been completely eaten out of the area by deer, which has caused mass amounts of invasive species of plants to be able to move in that the deer won't eat. Invasives like bush honeysuckle are literally sucking the life out of the forests. Unless you'd like an increase in native natural predators like wolves, coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions to eat the geese, and also devouring pets and humans, it's up to us now to solve what we've inadvertently caused.
The fact of the matter is that remember when there was a bird flu outbreak three year ago. It could happen again, plus these bird get very hostage if you even get within 100 of there net when they begin. It's just like anything else. They're not going to kill them all just reduce their population. Since they have no common predator to do it for us.
