The most valuable advice I was ever given was NEVER see your co workers as family and never expect your supervisors to care for you like a parent or mentor or older sibling. Don’t even try to be good friends with them. Be friendly but always remember work is work and not family or home. They can and will replace you
Not always true. My best friend in real life is a former co-worker I used to be his boss. But we haven't workerd together for 25 years and we are still friends...
I keep telling everybody to not fall for the "there are so many jobs out there" propaganda. Loose your current job and you will see just how tough it is out there. This holds especially true if you are 40 and up. 😶
They won't admit it because they're fluffing up the economy by pumping massive dollars into like 3 or 4 defense companies. So technically we're not in recession, but unless you work for those defense contractors, it's more like a depression, not a recession. That's why they're pushing the Ukraine thing so hard. They don't give 2 shits about Ukraine, it's a way for them to not have to admit that the last few years fucked everyone to death
It’s a business relationship not a personal friendship. They do care what you’ve done for them, that’s how you get retained instead of laid off and get a raise and/or promotion in a non union non collective bargaining company. It’s called MERIT. How old are you, eight?
Some people are already there living pay check to pay check. I just had to talk to HR about dropping my 401k and I insurance. She wouldn't let me drop the Insurance...
@@EastElbow you know why they already living paycheck to paycheck? Because they never been saving. That hasn’t cross your mind? When they spent all they worked for, they scream. You’re money don’t have wings.
@@MrNsoe I only started saving in February of 2024. Not because I didn't know how to save money, but because I grew up homeless, used the money I earned by enlisting in the Army at age 18 to start a business, and the savings from that went into a defense attorney when I was being threatened with 40 years for throwing an armed attacker backwards onto their head. Then I came home, and literally could not earn enough to save. It took years to build enough skills and, mostly through personal networking, build a resume of professional work, that outweighed that absurd charge enough to start getting positions that paid well enough to even consider savings. Now I get hired almost instantly when I go job hunting (2-4 weeks max.) But I had to endure absurdity for almost 20 years to get to that point. Some people literally do not make enough to save. I was paying $600 a WEEK at age 15 for crappy motels because nowhere else would even let me in at that age. That is $2,400 a month for a 15 year old working for $7.15 an hour at three different jobs. Do the math, realize minors aren't allowed to work full-time, and you'll realize that JUST to pay for crappy one room motels under the table, I also had to work more than just 3 jobs illegally and under the table, to get by. Add in that I couldn't afford a fridge, thus increasing food costs dramatically, and etc. Get some perspective before trying to make broad sweeping statements that all people who fit criteria "x" are lazy. Because if we'd traded places back in time, would you honestly be alive today in my shoes?
*True story: I've been fired and I said "Thank you, thank you, thank you" they were shocked😮 it was a relief the $20 an hour was not worth the work they were asking.* I've been laid off- First thing I said was "do I get unemployment" they said yes I said "why yall looking so sad then."😂😂😂. Life lesson- a job does not define you. People can since confidence a mile away. I'm the shit even if no one else thinks so*.....
A job does not define you! I love that. People judge me for working in the service industry but I'm the one with the cash and all the free time. I paid off my car and bachelor's waiting tables. I make more money than if I worked in my actual field. It does get to me sometimes but I continue to ignore what people think of me. I may be able to retire soon before 45 or open up my business at least.
I’m sorry, this may be extreme but, it should be illegal for a company to not disclose a massive layoff. These companies are damaging so many peoples lives and they don’t even have to mention until it’s the day that the layoffs are actually happening. If these companies expect people to always give them a two week notice before leaving, then they should give employees a heads up before they do a massive fucking layoff!
Actually in the US such disclosures are required (depending on number of employees being laid off at a time) via the WARN as one of the clips mentioned. I found out about it after my last employer went through layoffs. You can typically check via a Google search, also Glassdoor also has useful intel.
If you owned a company and had to lay off half the staff, would you give them two weeks notice? All work will stop, the about to be laid off employees will poison the remaining employees, and you'll end up having to shut down the business. Welcome to adulthood.
I can tell you that it is much harder to find new employment when you're 50 plus. I was laid off and out of work for almost 2 years. The only thing that helped me and my family stay afloat was I had a large emergency fund ($200K) saved up. I eventually got another job and everything is back to normal.
Been out of work 2 yrs and 2 months.... How do I explain the gap? It's not like I've been lazy, but my resume looks empty. Not to mention I have another year long gap because I quit a toxic job right before the pandemic for my health... and then couldn't find anything.
@@AuthorthingsI would just say I had to stay home to care for a loved one who wasn’t doing well. Since your looking for a job now just say things are looking up and you ready to work.

I got layed off in February and still struggling to find something. My last job was as a compliance analyst and I also have my degree in IT. I literally just get rejection letters every time. I even put in for entry level and still rejected. It doesnt make sense to me. I literally served in the military, graduated, did everything right in life and I am still struggling. I'm in IT as well. After the last interview I went through and didn't get the job, I dug around and found somebody on the inside via a friend of a friend. He said, "The hiring manager already knew who they were going to hire before the interview process, but they interviewed several other candidates just to meet due diligence requirements". Agreed, really they just use people like pawns.
Or it’s just a shitty job and they know you’ll leave as soon as you get another offer. I never quite understood how you can be over qualified for a job youve never done before.
Go to school and to college for 15-16 years, get out from the college with a huge debt, 9-5 work slave for 40-50 years, retire with all kinds of health issues and finally die most likely in a nursing home. That is human life in a nutshell. Man.. this existence is such a pain and stressful. Is is this all we suppose to do? What the actual F?
If you want a different outcome choose differently. People take the path of least resistance and expect max potential. Learn a trade - work for yourself and never get replaced by technology. Those cushy office jobs are dying.
Also: no one forces anyone to go into debt- people just don’t want to work while going to college because they “don’t want to miss out on the experience “
I got out of the system within 2 years of racist corporate america and micro aggressions. I had my reason to become an entrepreneur 13 years ago. Best decision, tripled my salary for 14 years. A good dose of racism made black women the largest group fo entrepreneurs, and thank heaven for it. Much better than being a sheep lead to the slaughter.
Well yes but let's face it human resources can be outsourced to India for pennies on the dollar now. Always be up to date in your field and make sure you have an in demand career/ skill set.
Let’s also understand this isn’t any different than any other time in the past 50 years , good jobs are tough to come by and your best chance at scoring one is through someone you know , I not only did that myself but in the aerospace industry it is recommended …
I was laid off from my first post college job and it was a good thing because I have a much better job now, like 5x better. Always something better out there.

You know what’s really annoying about being laid off or losing your job, is that todays job market has made the job hunting/job applying process so f’ing difficult, just over complicating things for no reason even for sh*tty pay entry level jobs so while you may lose out on staying on and being loyal to a job instead of moving around to different ones, the job process just makes me wanna find a good job and stick with it til a retire even if I lose out cause I don’t have the patience for job hoping in todays job market it just demands too much of you and it ain’t worth it unless it pays really really well
this is also a reminder to hold no loyalty to your company because they won't and will dump you as soon as you're an inconvenience or they find a better option financially. they only care about money, don't let them trick you into thinking otherwise.
@@pizzazzsnudge7800I learned this a long time ago after being told to our faces by the CEO that we weren't going to be laid off because our department was the one of the most important departments in the company. We got laid off 5 mouths later For the next 4 years, I did part time/contract work and didn't accept similar full time jobs like the one I was laid off from due poor pay offers . I eventually got a job with a new company that said they treat employees great and care about each and every one of them. I saw signs that they didn't and recognize that they like to intimidate and scare employees. The employees allowed it because they were brainwashed to believe that they were so lucky to be an employee at the company. Then managers attempted to intimidate me and lie on me. I documented it all and filed lawsuit. The evidence I had scared them and they went a round about way to ask me to drop lawsuit and they would in return drop the false infraction from my file. NOPE! I had already documented the lies. Settled out of court. None of these corporations care about you. You're just a number and most pay you crumbs while management cronies at the top, who go to meetings all day, give themselves raises under the guise that they worked harder than you and deserve a raise. My suggestion to people. Never work for a company that doesn't pay you enough to survive, doesn't have set pay increases for the position and doesn't offer a great retirement(401 k). If you're laid off you want to walk away with enough earnings and retirement to feel as though you didn't waste your time.
Then there are applications that require drawn out assessments wasting a lot of people's time just for them to finish it and get an automated rejection message.
I was fired in 2020. Still unemployed. Have an interview this week. I started consulting and did well, but kept applying. Got long Covid and haven’t worked in 18 months looking for the right place. Job applications ask if you have been fired 😮. So that can contribute to not being hired. Find a job before you get laid off. I could have but let loyalty catch me off guard. Never be loyal to a company or in my case a boss (she was let go as well).
That’s terrible! I hope you all find the employment you need. So glad I went to trade school! I get a job in less than two days and always create a schedule that works for me!
Its pretty crazy I do Heating and Air and for the first time I have been laid off after a slow summer, I have found a new job at a large company but, from what old timers tell me is that a slow summer in the desert means a recession is on the horizon and people are forgoing repairs or using window units
Since investment firms own 20% of single family homes in the US there aren’t as many homes w units actually owned by individuals. How do you survive on volunteer work? You can't. Heck, people are struggling to survive on 75,000 a year, especially if you have student loan debt you have to pay back. Only some colleges require or push students to do internships while in school. Of which that is still exploitive. One, if colleges require it, you are paying to work for free. Then, if colleges just push it, you are working in your free time while at school for free. She has a right to cry.

In 2008 my manager and supervisor were laid off. I was called into the general managers office. I mentally prepared for the layoff. He told me not to worry and that he would be fired before me. He told me workers who generate money don't get fired.....its always middle management and pencil pushers. Lesson learned.
Go to any commercial fishing port. You can get a job. You’ll have to actually work. But the pay is good. Alaska and Maine are some of the easiest places to find a job on a boat.
I helped my brother in law do just that. He was down on his luck, and having a hard time, going couch to couch. I said look, you're young, single and have no obligations, get on a boat, you'll work 16+ hours a day, and it's gonna suck sometimes, but it's work and a place to stay. He's been killing it ever since. He pulled himself up by his bootstraps, and I'm proud of that kid
This really scares me tbh. I was job hunting for months until I was able to get the job I'm currently at. It's been 3 months now and I think I'm doing a great job so far but I still get anxious about potentially getting fired out of the blue given the recession and the fact that where I work is a small company with just a few employees and they have been really pushing to get more and more business coming in and that responsability falls on our team so it is very stressful sometimes. I don't want to be out of a job and then have to job hunt again and send resume after resume and then get an interview and never heard back.....it's brutal tbh. My sister is currently unemployed and has been looking for a job since last year and no luck, I feel so bad for her because it is getting to her it feels personal getting rejected tbh even if it shouldn't be....I hope we can all survive these challenging times!
I hope so too especially considering how often so many companies rely on an ATS to screen candidates yet reject quality talent if they have one or two flaws on their resume. If someone is dedicated to do better and be better we all can be unicorn's that companies look for but from how I see it many are looking for people who are smart enough to work the job with little to no training required but not smart enough to question policy.
If possible try and start your own thing on the side. I started my own side hustle and now have 50+ paying clients and my own website. I was working full time when I started it. Got laid off recently but money keeps flowing in because of my clients so I can pay my rent for the rest of the year upfront and go on holiday with my fiance. If a job is your only source of income you will forever be on edge because these employers will get rid of you at a moments notice if they need to save their bottom line. I was the highest performing member at my company for 2.5 years and was let go. Thank God I started my own thing.

I was once called into a meeting with HR, and I thought it was to be laid off. I show up with pad and pen to take notes. I wanted to make sure they offered a decent parting package after the many years I had been there. As it turns out, it was not a layoff…but a position change. I built an entire infrastructure for a job. They gave me no resources, they didn’t give me even the support that I asked, for if that would cost no money for the rest of the team that I was in charge of, and when I feel short of their “expectations“, they gave the position that I have been asking for for months, and the structure and support that I’ve been asking for for months to a person who worked under me. And then they laid me off by maintaining and keeping all of the infrastructure that I built and all the visuals that I built for their company. And I expected this because you can feel it you can sense it. When they slowly shut you out of meetings, and slowly decrease your workload and everything else you know. What frustrates me more is that companies just flip it we do this to a lot of employees. They will utilize you as a resource and then when they feel they can get it cheaper. They will take what you have built and use it for somebody else. The company that I did that for I hope they fail badly and terrible and I’ll smile.

That first lady needs to find a new career. HR is easily the most worthless role in the corporate world and a lot of companies are finally figuring that out. HR departments are just made out of people who are given specific tasks and if barrier to employment is one of them then that’s just what they have to do. It’s always going to be someone’s job to be the bad guy. Like people who have to deny people’s medical insurance claims.
Well if you guys say you apply to many jobs but nobody is hiring that’s probably because you guys are not applying as candy factory workers or factory workers where you take things out of the conveyor belt, stand and work for this amount of hours and do overtime. You guys are probably not applying to be dishwashers too. That’s why it is diffficult to get a job. When I was unemployed, I applied for cashier jobs and tougher jobs nobody wants. Lmao that’s cap, you really telling me she can’t get a job a McDonald’s for a few months till she finds something better? Or is having a job like that just “beneath her” 😂
Nothing will be better until you change or learn different professions. The problem is most of the people stick with on profession the entire life. So more skills more good jobs. Nothing will happen if you keep complaining and not move towards solutions.
The “extend yourself“ part of what people say when they say new job offerings is just ridiculous. It’s like saying here, I know you’re a judge, but there’s this doctor position open in yourself and I’m sure that you will do great in the job! It’s like they don’t realize the jobs they know nothing about aren’t necessarily connected to each other.

Thankfully only 1 month out of pocket and got my current role. Its amazing! Went up to $115k, great benefits, fully remote, and hardly do 30hrs/week. If you're in a decent position when laid off, look for a better role in a set amount of time you give yourself before you have to settle.
HR and other back office work is, or will be, replaced by AI. HR and other cost center departments have been growing like crazy in corporations; every year there are compliance training requirements that take the revenue generating employees away from their tasks, negatively impacting productivity. HR, irrespective of the training and information they provide, works for the company, in the best interest of the company, not the employee. If you go to HR with a complaint, you will likely see your future options at the company limited. HR is not your friend. If you get laid off from a corporation, you will be dealing with HR. Do not trust them or believe they are your friend. When I hear about HR layoffs, I'm not disappointed. I think maybe some revenue generating workers will be spared, yet companies don't scale back their HR initiatives. It's even worse with DIE workers, bureaucracies and lack of focus on merit. I've worked in AI for decades, and to those AI workers who are working on AI HR projects, I salute you and thank you.
I know this all too well. I got caught in the rapture in 2009 and couldn’t find a job until 2010. A few employers later the pandemic happens and I got furloughed to never get reinstated. I saw an old co worker at a fast food restaurant and they told me they called up a few months ago to see what was going on with their old condition and the employer told them they could have came back sooner if they would have called months ago. I couldn’t believe they told her that. That pissed me off. Last time we spoke they said they would call everyone back if they needed them back. 🤬🤬🤬

It's hard to save when you don't make enough to save. Just sayin

I’m sorry, this may be extreme but, it should be illegal for a company to not disclose a massive layoff. These companies are damaging so many peoples lives and they don’t even have to mention until it’s the day that the layoffs are actually happening. If these companies expect people to always give them a two week notice before leaving, then they should give employees a heads up before they do a massive fucking layoff!
Being a grown up is hard.
Actually in the US such disclosures are required (depending on number of employees being laid off at a time) via the WARN as one of the clips mentioned. I found out about it after my last employer went through layoffs. You can typically check via a Google search, also Glassdoor also has useful intel.
They don't want people to leave until they're done with them, if they tell you it's coming you'll find something else and jump ship ASAP
If you owned a company and had to lay off half the staff, would you give them two weeks notice? All work will stop, the about to be laid off employees will poison the remaining employees, and you'll end up having to shut down the business. Welcome to adulthood.

exactly
this is also a reminder to hold no loyalty to your company because they won't and will dump you as soon as you're an inconvenience or they find a better option financially. they only care about money, don't let them trick you into thinking otherwise.
@@pizzazzsnudge7800I learned this a long time ago after being told to our faces by the CEO that we weren't going to be laid off because our department was the one of the most important departments in the company. We got laid off 5 mouths later
For the next 4 years, I did part time/contract work and didn't accept similar full time jobs like the one I was laid off from due poor pay offers .
That’s why they make it grueling and complicated - so you don’t think about leaving. It’s like every company is agreeing in doing this in secret.

Housing prices and limited supply compounded w lenders tightening up on approvals means even less are able to purchase. How do you survive on volunteer work? You can't. Heck, people are struggling to survive on 75,000 a year, especially if you have student loan debt you have to pay back.
I think AI is reviewing the resumes . And everyone I know is getting jobs via networking
1:30 wanna know something interesting? Studies show more men apply to jobs when they have maybe 3/10 of the listed skills, while women tend not to apply when they have all 9 except for 1. Her dad was right. Companies are only giving their wishlist, you learn most things on the job anyway. Tailor your resume as best you can and apply for the job!
her dad is right and wrong, yeah she can apply but its pretty much what she said, she will be rejected. I apply for jobs where I match all of their wishlist and the rejection letter still comes.
@@tameone even if she is rejected, often times a real HR contact (not an automated machine) would send the rejection communication. Follow up thanking them and let them know that if there are any other roles that they think you’d be a better fit for, please let you know so you can forward your resume to that department.
Depending on where you are located, go into the office with your resume and ask to speak with the HR coordinator for the job about your interest in the role. Be prepared with a strong elevator pitch about your qualifications, etc. Set yourself a part and be relentless! Don’t just be an random resume in the ATS, most resumes don’t make it through that way.
I started looking for a corporate job end of last year and in one month I found one making 20% more than I did previously. It is not impossible, but you have to know how to market yourself and not get so easily discouraged.
Liar.
That first lady needs to find a new career. HR is easily the most worthless role in the corporate world and a lot of companies are finally figuring that out. They aren't necessary to protect the company the way people thought they were back in the early 2000s and 2010s. Most of them are just seat fillers that companies are nixing wholesale. There's a reason she can't find a job in HR in the 2020s. It's a dying career path.
You are correct! Where I live they also do accounting to compensate the lack of importance in HR.
Knowing I'm in a country with a rare language I had to dxplain to the manager how to deal with my retirement fund... and they are often more a nuisance than helping
HR for decades has always been the road to no where...it will go the way of travel agents, Realtors, and buggies whip manufacturers
Yes someone please tell her!
Companies are getting ready for a crash and are laying off people. I had 4 different Companies call back all their staff knowing that the younger group would rather quit than go back in the office. They love you because they don't have to pay unemployment . Nobody will be hiring unless it's a necessity. When billionaires bet against our economy especially Michael Burry who predicted the 2008 crash companies listen. This is a really bad time to make a move because usually low man gets axed first.
My heart goes out to the last girl with the beige shirt. I was her 13 years ago. If she is reading this, please consider volunteering. Volunteering is a great way to build up your resume and to have professional references.
It's going to get much worse. Buckle up and stay strong.
To the unemployed Human Resource soon to be permanently unemployed individual, it might help to get a manual labor job or go back to trade school work in these fields are in demand your area of expertise is being replaced by AI, your welcome for today's reality check.
I wouldn't want to wish this on my worst enemy.
Nope. I have been through the nonsense of part-time jobs and unemployment from 2009-2013 and from 2018-2019. It SUCKS!
It's crazy cause I hear this all the time, there's no work, pay isn't good enough. However, I hired a house keeper for $100/hr yesterday and SHE DIDNT SHOW UP!! No, there's no benefits with that, but $100/hr is better than $0/hr! Blows my mind!
I would rather make $100/hr then get the crappy benefits that jobs provide. Jobs act like the benefits they give out are so extraordinary and life changing.
I bet your single.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m interested shoot what state are you in lol
Cleaning someone’s toilet is not worth it for me…
@scarletlady3727 I'll wipe someone's ass if it meant my kids had a home, clothes to wear and food to eat. I'm not above it. 🤷♀️
Technology is replacing HR workers and other paper pushers. I work in IT, I have no issues finding work. We recently replaced a good portion of our admin staff with automation and launched a new HR tool that inputs employee data by syncing with our other systems, no actual human is needed for that task now. I'm 41, worked full time while going to school in early 2000s, and earned two CS degrees that I paid for myself with no financial aid/support 💪
The human in Human Resources still has to listen to associates complain about IT.
AI is here to stay
@lainie2693I'm sorry to say that sounds like putting excuses. I've been going to school since 2002. I love to learn. I'm now 40. Have always been able to fit in a class or two. I now work full time again and will finish up a substance abuse counselor certificate. I have a bachelor's in health care IT and AA in Biological Sciences. It's tiring at times but if you want something, you'll make it happen.
Wtf is wrong with you?
I’ve been having this same issue. I quit my job bc they cut my pay drastically and drove an hour there and back per day. Gas is ridiculous! I was struggling at $19 and cut me down to $16. Before that I lost a 7 year job during Covid bc we weren’t making any money during lockdowns. I loved that job and would have retired with them. Idk what yo do or think anymore. This is ridiculous for us all
First of all, never quit your job without another one to go to. You will not receive unemployment. You must be a young person.
@@emzywillrich7243 I know that. But the pay cut wasn’t the only reason. The work environment was extremely hostile. My lead was always on something and acting erratic all the time. Just terrible all around
She literally applied to a MILLION JOBS 😅 the 🧢 is all time HIGH
When you have no bob TAKE ANY JOB THAT COMES YOUR WAY UNTIL YOU GET THE JOB YOU WNT.
I Have A Good Paying Job, Work From Home Too. Last Week I Had 2 Companies Reach Out To Recruit Me. Both Are Very Enticing. Folks, There Are Plenty Of Jobs To Be Had.
Bruh, If you are unemployed you gotta literally apply to anywhere. And after a point this means other jobs like retail and resturants. Where else are you going to get money? Like sometimes you gotta, it is what it is. And also branching out and applying to different fields is good too. Sometimes you just have to. I mean wtf else are you going to do? No job at all?
Class of 2022 graduate here - graduated with 3 internships, 3.95 GPA, and never been unemployed in my life until now. Applied to over 1,700 jobs. I am demoralized. Never have been able to move out of my parents at 24. I have no hope for the future. I have been rejected from countless call centers and restaurants even with 7 years of restaurant experience.
@@CC-br9qgwhat did you graduate in ?
These stories are too real. I’m scared I have to quit my job and I don’t have another one lined up yet. Scary timessss.
Not just a recession, but HR is on the list of jobs that AI will replace
The reality is that there is a lot of job in education or health care but people dont want to do those jobs.
Scary thing to see my generation not be able to deal with life.
Life is not late stage capitalism or failing currency or corporatist policies. Life is beyond that.
How do you deal with life? Your statement doesn’t make sense.
Funny a dude with a sun man thumbnail would say that!
Corporate sociopaths control our lives not hard work. It’s not the 1900s fool 😂
HR departments exist to keep people from getting jobs, so I find this to be poetic justice. 😎
And maybe if she stopped saying “literally” all the time people might take her seriously. She didn’t literally apply for a million jobs.
Ya hr is most useless position possible lol
@@MissE333even if she applied to a lot of jobs, she needs to remember to tailor her résumé to the each company. I got the impression she just spams her résumé out, which is a waste of everyone’s time.
HR departments are just made out of people who are given specific tasks and if barrier to employment is one of them then that’s just what they have to do. It’s always going to be someone’s job to be the bad guy. Like people who have to deny people’s medical insurance claims.
Unfortunately because of the pandemic Job now are still plentiful, iam confused
*"You will have nothing and be happy"*
Well if you guys say you apply to many jobs but nobody is hiring that’s probably because you guys are not applying as candy factory workers or factory workers where you take things out of the conveyor belt, stand and work for this amount of hours and do overtime. You guys are probably not applying to be dishwashers too. That’s why it is diffficult to get a job. When I was unemployed, I applied for cashier jobs and tougher jobs nobody wants. Don’t get me started I was a housekeeper for a Marriott hotel, and that was nasty and so tiresome. But it’s still a job.
ewh im not doing seedy hotel work
what. a cashier job is not a difficult job, its majority teenagers doing that 😂
Right? During corona when nobody found a job, I had 3!
I live near a city, a port and a train rail so that a strategic tip for all you melting snowflakes. I think some of y'all will do good with some hotel cleaning, get your feet back on the ground
No one with a degree showing their worth will not work at a Marriott. If not ask your CEO if he does housekeeping work
It doesn’t really matter you cant just do a job just because. Won’t look good on a resume. For instance i take the bus to my work. Pays decent but if i were to be laid of I can’t do uber just because. Example I don’t have a car sou no uber. It’s just an example but remember we all made the decisions to be were we are. A job is a job but if it doesn’t look good can affect the work history better to keep looking will working
We really are living in a dystopian nightmare.
Yep!
3:08… I find it strange that she thinks losing her job is comforting; Will she feel the same when the rent is due?
That what the buffer you build up is for
@@mailvoor698 I always sleep better on a buffer.
Ok as a millennial I can sympathize but at the same time a lot of these Tik toks are just a bunch of excuses, the first girl complaining about being unemployed for almost a whole year acting as if she doesn’t have freshly done nails and a big ass diamond ring on her finger… over qualified? Lmao that’s cap, you really telling me she can’t get a job a McDonald’s for a few months till she finds something better? Or is having a job like that just “beneath her” 😂
Exactly
HR workers in 2023 are literally the corporate equivalent to a forgotten subscription on an old credit card 😂
The first girl will probably have to find something besides HR until the economy gets better. Keep an open mind and stay humble.
14:00 Bless her. I hope she found a good job, because the whole ‘entry level’ thing is a load of bull.
Wish you all the best! I know it sucks, but it’ll get better…
Nothing will be better until you change or learn different professions.
The problem is most of the people stick with on profession the entire life.
So more skills more good jobs.
Nothing will happen if you keep complaining and not move towards solutions.
No the problem is everything is oversatusrated. There’s only so many ways to earn your keep.
I was laid off from my first 100k job last year when i was 27. I was given a 2 month severance. I didnt want to settle and i had enough savings to go for a while. Thankfully only 1 month out of pocket and got my current role. Its amazing! Went up to $115k, great benefits, fully remote, and hardly do 30hrs/week. If you're in a decent position when laid off, look for a better role in a set amount of time you give yourself before you have to settle.
Its hard to sympathize with a woman from HR
Currently unemployed and this shit is really starting to hurt bad...
At this point I feel like emergency funds need to be a full year of expenses
I know this all too well. I got caught in the rapture in 2009 and couldn’t find a job until 2010. A few employers later the pandemic happens and I got furloughed to never get reinstated. I saw an old co worker at a fast food restaurant and they told me they called up a few months ago to see what was going on with their old condition and the employer told them they could have came back sooner if they would have called months ago. I couldn’t believe they told her that. That pissed me off. Last time we spoke they said they would call everyone back if they needed them back. 🤬🤬🤬
@sarsh - you will find a job when it suits you
I had that kind of experience - i wish you all the best
And I hope as well as pray I never experience being unemployed ever again

My mother graduated from high school in 1932, the depths of the Great Depression. Grown men and women with years of experience couldn’t find work. Nil opportunities for Mom. So she went to the nicest dress shop in town (Alameda CA) and said she’d work for free. She lived at home with her mom and dad and in that year she learned retail inside out. And then got a paying job.

Welcome to the Real World. ~ We call it the Slinky Economy. 18months ago, it was not enough workers. Today, it is Mass Layoff's. The infamous Corporate Trimming.
I remember, back in 1999. Companies were spending like they had a mandate, to SPEND. Specifically on IT. For the infamous Y2k bugg, (LOLOLOL).. Come January.. HOLY MOLY. The slowdown, was breath taking. Was as if the world, had started to end. ALOT of early dot com companies, just collapsed. The stock market, just went sideways. 2000,2002 Was a rebuild time. Leading right up, to 2009.. NOW THAT SUCKED!!!!
I hope it doesn't go that bad.

Sometimes getting fired is a good thing
The 1st thru 3rd industrial revolutions provided abundant jobs given that people have proper degrees and training, however the 4th industrial revolution (AI and automation) is now in the business of getting rid of people. I don't think we will see the hiring cycle come back up like before.
Well there should be a lot fewer of us around to need jobs so there’s that.
