Great video! Always appreciating an honest review. and the pedal sounded pretty good, I wonder what it would be like with a 10 band EQ or a Dirty Tree boosting it.
Yea! I'd go with the Synergy Slo module before the pedal, Also Louis..!!!! Sweetwater has the Peavey 6505 II & The original (1992) for preorder NOW...!!!!
I did see the pre-order on the 6505 II but I think an MXR 10 Band EQ will thicken the tone the way the 6505-2 does, compared to the original 5150 II/ 6505+
this SLO pedal plus a Two Notes C.A.B. M (it does power amp emulation!) would be a killer two-pedal combination, could probably fit it all in a fanny pack!
Happy weekend Louis! Liking the tones you’re getting from the Soldano pedal. When I started chasing tone down the rabbit hole again earlier this year the Soldano SLO-100 was on the top of my list before discovering the Friedman BE-100 deluxe and Mezzabarba Trinity 100. Tried playing a Gibson Mustaine V through the SLO last month at the music store but it blew a fuse or something so at least I have the pedal as a “gateway” to tide me over.
I ordered one but I’m keeping my expectations pretty middle of the road. I’m hoping for just a decent distortion pedal to run in front of a clean preamp/power amp. I like Soldanos but I don’t have a synergy or the money for the real thing, but c’mon people. It’s a pedal, not an amp, and we shouldn’t kid ourselves.
Yes! I think the Synergy SLO is on point when I compare it to my Myasnikov Super Lead preamp but the pedal is really close. I think using a boost would drive it to a level of craziness that we want. :)
I might give it a try. I mean, my love affair with the 5150 Preamptive Strike is still alive & well. Seriously, the Chris Ray pedal has even harmonics across the aural spectrum & when I leave the chord section of a song to solo, I don’t need another boost/ OD pedal to help out. If it can do that, I’ll get one.
hey Louis, i was shopping for soldano superlead O.D. pedal ... i noticed a purple variant limited edition are they same pedal w/diffrent color or is purple one got something special?
I haven't pulled the trigger on this one yet; and I think I'm going to wait for now. I'm glad I ordered the CHUG pedal, given its price and features, but I'm surprised I haven't seen any reviews of it yet (hint hint lol). Cuidate
My Solar CHUG was supposed to arrive this afternoon but got stuck for an extra day in customs from Spain to Delaware. It'll be here Monday! :) Stay tuned for it, hermano!
soldano smokes the chug in my experience you just need to run in into the clean channel of an amp. that is the “proper” way to run this pedal. it also has great crunch tones. one of the best distortions but it’s best to treat it that way rather than a dedicated pre
Maybe it's just I'm tired but there's nothing special about the way it sounds. It's just another brown sound pedal from what I can tell from the influx of video out there..... and you're right about the majority of the demos...... best ever, loads of dynamics, and everyone needs one of these..... oh by the way you can save $20 of the selling price at my Reverb store tomorrow and buyer pays shipping
Hahahaha! Nailed it on the nose as always, bro. It's a cool pedal to have, especially when you don't want to spend $4,000 for the head. Even then, for a little more you can buy the Synergy SYN1 with SLO module and THAT'S a beast!!!!
Myasnikov is much better but keep in mind that it also has preamp tubes, so the gain stage is brutal compared to diodes that tries to duplicate the same tone. :)
It's.. cool. I mean, I like it but at the same time it's achievable with other gear that either does more on its own or there are cheaper options. Personally I'm still waiting on the Two Notes ReVolt to actually be released, the NAMM videos of it sounded compelling, but we'll see.
Hermano,so A Chug pedal ,aMauler Revv pedal, and a Saldano pedal ,aRevv Tilt Overdrive pedal, damn what's a guy to do man hahaha, and none of them are cheap 🤣. Those r just a few and u have a ton of pedals too 😆 🤣 my head is freaking spinning man .
Somehow, you always come through with the stuff im checking out lol
Super satisfying thanks man
Great video! Always appreciating an honest review. and the pedal sounded pretty good, I wonder what it would be like with a 10 band EQ or a Dirty Tree boosting it.
That would be the next step, adding a pedal to tighten the tone which I think it needs, since it's designed after the Soldano SLO tone.

Another great episode Louis! Hope to see more soon.
I may create a Soldano SLO pedal vs, Synergy Soldano SLO next then it's the Solar CHUG!
In all fairness the pedal was designed to run in front of an amp
this SLO pedal plus a Two Notes C.A.B. M (it does power amp emulation!) would be a killer two-pedal combination, could probably fit it all in a fanny pack!
I'll try it with my CABM today
Sounds better than other demos fer sure!
Thanks Jay! I'm going to compared the pedal to the Synergy Soldano module which is made by the same company.
@@louistorres the Synergy demos blew that AWAY

Shit I've been on hiatus from my life for the last week. I get it my guy. Time to get back into the game for me. Pedal sounds great lou!
Billy! What's up, brother! You know, as men, we need some mental health time away from life.

My busy day, I missed it, but my kid has braces nowand I am here for the show!
Hahahaha! Braces are awful but that'll keep your kid's mouth shut for a while! Lol!
@@louistorres Dude! He needs a mute button sometimes!

Hey brother! It's the same, just a different color. :)
Hey Louis, this is Logan from Sweetwater, thanks for the shoutout!
Logan!! You are the man and happy Monday!
The dog in the intro! lol
That dog was funny.

@@louistorres Put the CHUG up against the Soldano pedal! I think the CHUG might beat it. Then put the winner up against the CERES!

Sounds like it can do some Slayer 🤘😆
The pedal has plenty of gain without adding another pedal.
Yes, I totally agree! It has tons of gain on tap!
Soldano Weed bag? I wanna buy it and return for the weed bag! I kid I kid!
Hahahahahaha! You are so funny! Haha!
Hi Louis what is your guitar tuning in this video?
Hey Bart! Tuning is C# Standard. :)
Congratulations Lou! You are officially a big youtube channel. the bots have appeared in your comment sections haha
I'm thinking this SLO pedal is pretty much like a Revv G3 pedal. 🤔
It's more like the REVV G3 set to the red dial. Yes.
Yo been on a hiatus too. Who's the pooch in the newer intro??
That's my pug, I recorded her and thought it would be cute to add her! :)
interesting. i only watched the andertons review on it and it sounded like crap in their victory amp and cab
Those guys are great and really funny but they definitely gear their channel to a more rock style of music.
Hi Louis how does it compare to the Myasnikov super lead?
Myasnikov is much better but keep in mind that it also has preamp tubes, so the gain stage is brutal compared to diodes that tries to duplicate the same tone. :)

I believe it is overpriced like those damn Jackson Soloist. I know, Apples to Pineapples but still too damn expensive.
you getting soft bro. this is not as good as any previous Soldano preamps. gotta compare it to that
What about o my goat
