You’re a life saver! 32 years of putting fuel in my vehicles, and it only takes one mistake to ruin the day. 3 gallons of 91 in my Powerstroke, ruined an evening of fishing, before it could take place. Had it towed home, removed about 10 gallons of junk fuel, followed by flushing it one gallon of diesel at a time, five times. I didn’t get 100% of it, but the smell of gas is gone, no service lights and have run almost a tank of fresh fuel through it. Certainly better than having to drop the tank! Thanks again.

For anyone wondering this works for the 2023 year modle as well just follow the step. Takes a bit the first time you do it. Figuring everything out and getting the hose set up properly but thus saved me from having to drop a completely filled tank. Thanks ARod

Very good video I have the same setup except I run a switch on the power wire so if I ever have it up in the air and I have to turn it on I can work with it in the air or on the ground if I have to lay under it Love the video great job, we definitely should figure out sometime in the future to get on video with each other

If you had turned the key on with DEF you'd be str8 F**Ked right now. I have had them run & drive in in gas & have saved it. DO NOT TURN THE KEY ON. Go disconnect that module you saw me, then turn your key on to tow it. You will need to follow this video, drain tank via steps....new filter.......prime the system after fillin tank & just let it idle for 10 or 15 mins without hitting throttle. Good luck

I have my 22 F450 set up incase of a Gas Mishap , That C4033 I located the exact location marked it with yellow tape and made sure I could unplug it without tools . I also made a set of jumpers, just gotta make a drain hose, (probably will next fuel filters change). . It's not a bad idea in my book to know where this connector is so you can unplug it right away before opening doors, turning keys then calling a tow truck. I'm a Pro too, 6 mo Chrysler, 10 years Nissan, 19 years Mercedes Benz . Love my fords though 22 f450 ,23 Bronco (personal vehicles )
I have a 2022 power stroke F350 crew cab duel. I accidentally added 13.4 gallons of gas in the tank to fill if the rest of the way up. I started it for 30 seconds to move it and now need to get it cleaned out. Will your method hurt any of the other internal parts like hi pressure pump? I just don’t want to fry a $21,000 engine. Good to know in case you get water on a fill up which I have seen. Would also be great to know how to drain the DEF tank in case someone put fuel in it instead od def. Ford should put a drain valve on all these tanks when building these vehicle. Thanks for the knowledge

Awesome video! Hope this helps me. I dumbassedly filled my tank with 87 gas and drove back home (2 miles). It ran fine all the way home. The next morning started it up and it cranked but started sputtering. I had it towed to dealership and they quoted me $16k for a new fuel system. Put it through insurance and they denied the claim. I just came across your video and thought what the hell let’s give it a go. My question is…if there is regular gas in the tank would it ruin the fuel pump by pumping it out this way. I thought I read that the cp4 pump gets its lubrication from the oil in the diesel. Thoughts? Preciate it!

I did get a notification on the ford pass app that said “The engine control system has detected an error in the amount of fuel required to meet engine and customer demands”. I did exactly Arod said to do in this video. Pumped out the fuel, changed the filters, and put in fresh diesel. Let her idle for awhile. She purrs like a kitten now. 5k miles since and not a hiccup.

You can take a battery and some wire leads and touch them too the sending unit and wa lah All you need is a wiring diagram or blind luck or just turn the key on and pump out thru the filter
You can use the same method here. But you WILL be replacing the pump anyways so might as well use it, to pump out the trash. Tank obviously down, will have to be scrubbed
It’s all I run all year in the ferd 6.7 and the Jetta 1.9 alh. Course that 1.9 alh will take any fuel you throw at and just chug along. Them ol tractor injection pumps are reliable
Excellent. This is exactly what I need to do to install the 68 gallon version. Can you confirm, please, that the connectors I need are 10AN? I would have thought 8AN but the hose ID is 0.43 (13/32). Maybe that is why my connectors are hard to get on! I think 10AN is too large so I'm checking in with an inquiry. Thanks

To order the connector (the male part you used from an old fuel filter) I am just trying to verify size. I believe 3/8" is too small and 5/8" is to large. How does the 2021 F450 fuel system work? I have one that isnt using fuel from the rear tank but front tank works fine, and there is flow into the rear tank but no pump, is the main front pump the pump for the rear tank somehow? This one has me stumped!

I went and look found it and tried to pull that plug out, it's fairly tight in there and you can't see and didn't want to pull to hard on the plug . Where is the release tab for this plug on top or side and do you just squeeze it, I don't want to brake it!
What about on 11-16 trucks? I tried turning the key forward to drain mine. The pump was running but no fuel would come out. I had a hose connected to the lift pump into a bucket, not the upper filter.
I’m working on a 1996 E-350. Two questions: 1. Is there any reason not to pull the core out of the Schraeder valve on the fuel rail and attach a hose there? 2. I’m still trying to get to the electrical connector that attaches to the fuel pump since I suspect that the pump is bad. I see in the factory manual that to empty a tank they recommend ”connect the Rotunda Fuel Storage Tanker 164-R320 1 suction pump to the fuel hose connection at the tank.” That SOUNDS like they put a suction on the discharge line and suck fuel through the pump. Does anyone know if that works? I tried taking a suction at the Schraeder valve on the fuel injector rail with a TopSider vacuum oil change tank/vacuum pump and it seems like I emptied about a quart of fuel but didn’t draw from the tank. Dropping the tank is last on my list.

The steps I think I should do are obviously drain the fuel tank like shown in your video. After driving 5 miles do fuel lines Need to be changed? Or is draining the fuel and filling with new fuel sufficient? Should I go to a certified ford dealership after refueling?

That looks like gasoline, not diesel. My diesel has always been clear. Not sure what color it is when I add the OptiLube XL though. Still, only 4oz per fillup can't taint it much.

Seems to be a bit of a common issue on the early EcoBoosts, that said this beast has a 4 inch lift and massive tires, even my 6'1" frame will require a milk crate height boost!

Ur using only the LP pump, to pump out not the CP4...thats only when i ts running

Brother your doing to much work. Just cut the fitting off an old filter, shove it in a hose...done.

Good move. I just undo the pressure relief valve & put a hose in & pump it out. Your water is definitely a lot easier.

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I've never done one...that said...I do LOVE where Ford put it! Right on top of the left side valve cover and it appears there's nothing in the way, sad thing is it drops fuel pressure at the rail badly...no power situation.

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Ah that easy eh? Local Ford dealer is providing the pump and apparently updated bolts to mount it with. Seems to be a bit of a common issue on the early EcoBoosts, that said this beast has a 4 inch lift and massive tires, even my 6'1" frame will require a milk crate height boost!
