At least this belt has been made by actual climbing harness makers, with the same buckle and materials; too many similar belts are using quick-release type cobra buckles that can be opened instantly, something no climbing harness can do and meet UIAA criteria.
@@aalendi kinda funny reading these comments so many years later. The fall was actually 110ft on Castleton tower in southern UT. I was wearing my previous Arc’teryx climbing harness for that climb. The harness you see in this video was not worn yet as I just bought it. Thanks for the funny comments though, I appreciate the laugh all these years later.
Excellent review. I manufacture semi-custom escape/emergency rappel systems designed to be used in conjunction with rigger's belts. So far I've prototyped systems for Blackhawk, 5.11, and the hugely disappointing Petzl Kano. My shells and mid layers are Arcteryx and if this H-150 belt is the same quality I'll probably make it a standard option.
The reason they have so much slack on the belt is so that when you are using it to rappel or climb on the end of the belt wont slip through the hardware it there is slippage.
Yeah but the actual climbing harass dose not have that much slack. I did figure out why they did it though. When taking the pants of for whatever reason the extra length allows you to keep the strap laced. It's only there because pants are often undone where the climbing harass is put on and undone once when you're done climbing. They did it for ease of use.
This belt can only be made in to a "functional harness" when used in conjunction with LEAF IE70 Rigger's Loop. So using this belt only for rappelling still inappropriate as it is obviously only the waist belt portion of a full harness. You would never rappel on just the waist belt of a normal harness so you wouldn't do it with this belt either.
Don't know that I'm going to spend $120 on that belt, but I found your review to be thorough and well done. All the best.

have you seen anyone using this in a war belt setup? On OP Tactical they mention it can handle a subload and pouches. Have you seen that?

Never EVER use this belt for rappelling ... terrible advice in this review. Spend the money and buy a quality climbing harness.
