I’m with you. I’m 70 years old and read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings in high school, over 50 years ago. The movies, especially the Trilogy, added a lot of silly nonsense. My daughter and I tried to watch The Hobbit trilogy movies recently, but it was so at variance with what we recalled of our reading of the book The Hobbit that we stopped. Someone needs to make a movie called The REAL Hobbit!! The story in the book is enough.
@@alcoholfree6381 I agree completely! The Hobbit was my favorite book as a child, and watching Peter Jackson butcher it like he did was just cruel. Supposedly there’s a “Tolkein Cut” floating around, where someone edited them down to just include the scenes from the original book. I never found it, but I heard it worked pretty well.
Nathan, your rendition of the Hobbit is so excellent!!! An American here, but even my hillbilly ear can hear how impeccable your ME accent is. Thank you for the talent and hard work you have poured into every phrase of Tolkien's beloved book.
Thanks so much for this. I couldn't imagine my students listening to any other narrator. They are completely engaged. We are excitedly and anxiously awaiting the two final chapters.
normally i have an issue where I'll read a paragraph while not comprehending a word it says due to my ADHD making me think of other things. This has helped me greatly pay attention and understand the books. Thank you my man you earned this sub.
Absolutely love this listened to all chapters and going to listen to the rest and any other books that you have I am interested in……. I’ve read the hobbit so many times over the past 40 years I even read it to my daughter when she was little and she loves it too
It's the most recent edition but yeah. Tolkien made a few adjustments to it after it's initial release to clarify and clean up things. And after LOTR he wanted to make sure the stories lined up correctly. But if you read this book anytime after at least 1965 this would have been the version you read, so yeah.
Why couldn’t they have made a movie The Hobbit instead of the travesty of the trilogy that they made. Thorin acts like most modern politicians; especially Putin.
"May his beard whither" is something I shall definitely start saying.
Funny how many people use these for classes. I'm listening for fun.

To learn to read you need to do only one thing: READ! It might help to read out loud to yourself or maybe a child. It’s so fun!!

Only cause my memory is old. Is this the original book. There are details that surprise me.

18:40 why do the dwaves have sniper rifles
@@TheLegendofBoko Cause that's an image from an old Warhammer book. And in that universe, dwarves like guns.
@@ironwolfstudios2857 oh it looked so close to the lotr dwarves I was like idk how the goblins going to be getting out of this one
@@TheLegendofBoko they do look very similar. But yes, guns would have made that battle very different.
I love these audio books but god I hate how you say Oin, Gloin, Dain, and Nain
A somewhat strange critique. What change would you advise?

I so wish I read this in class and wrote an essay on this book before my summer break started, I love this book even more now🤍

You imagination can become so strong if you read and let it run. Try it by reading it aloud to yourself.
