dang please make more videos, this was really illuminating. I'm just starting out writing, and I haven't found fantasy archetypes all that compelling, but connecting them to their real world metaphorical counterparts made it click for me.

    Great video
Would love to hear your take on Universal Themes
Craig Mazin’s “How to write a movie” on Scriptnotes covers this brilliantly

One of my grandparents was a wonderful man who didn't have easy life.
He was born during the war. His father disappeared somewhere near Stalingrad (he never met him). After the war, the city in which he was born ceased to belong to Germany and became part of Poland (Gliwice, where the provocation took place, as a result of which Germany attacked Poland). Most of the Germans were expelled, but my grandfather and his family remained. The years after the war were terrible - he recalled that as a child he didn't even have proper shoes and often ate sorrel. Despite this, he grew up, started a family and tried to live. After the fall of communism, he moved to Germany. He also had a difficult time there, because people considered him a Pole, but he tried not to complain.
I liked listening to his stories. It was thanks to him that I became interested in the history of World War II. Many times, after reading a book or listening to a podcast on the subject, I imagined myself telling my grandfather about what I had just learned.
Farewell was painful for me. He came for my 18th birthday. To the house where he grew up and which he passed on to his daughter. He spent a week with us. On the day he was supposed to go home, my mother tried to wake him up. Unfortunately, he couldn't do it anymore. He died in my room where he was sleeping.
Sometimes I have the impression that he sensed that the end was coming and wanted to say goodbye and be buried in the city where he was born. We buried him next to his mother. A few years later, we also burried grandmother.
This video reminded me how much I miss him. It's a pity he didn't live to see those times - I think we would have a lot of topics to talk about today.

Excellent video! One question, though, isn't Gandalf transcending and turns into his true Ainur form? Basically becomes "the white" and somehow aacends to a higher form above the human condition?

Yeah that's a sort of idealized state. I think KM Weiland says that Gandalf the Gray is the Crone and Gandalf the White is the true mage (final phase).

Enjoyed your explanation. This led me to think about what kind of story arc an AGI would create as it would come into existence as an adult (compared to a human) and be relatively immortal?

A tru general intelligence would have to be trained up from creation, so it would also have a level 1 squishy n00b phase. It might 'grow' by switching bodies from something harmless like a Teddy Ruxpin, to something more industrial, like the loader from the Aliens movie, as it became better able to handle complex machine tasks without endangering nearby humans. I assume the Wizard phase would be when the AGI creates a child that improves on itself in every way, and I would assume when it is obsolete, it would just upload its memories into its child, and I assume they would merge into a new being. Its really hard to tell how a machine intelligence would live in terms of a human life, but its not impossible to think that an AGI would actually not be immortal, but would reach the processing and coding limits of its hardware, and not be fully compatible with new hardware, thus the need to build a next level AGI that can handle the new hardware upgrades.

Correct. The arrival of AGI v1.0, or Artificial General Intelligence v1.0, is predicted to begin by the month of September this year. Within the span of 8 months, it should be fully developed, fully be available and launched to the public by July of 2025 probably AGI v14.0.

I hear Joseph Campbell. I am a grandfather 4 times over, you are not far from the mark. I am not quite ready to give up the struggle because...because...all of a sudden there was A.I.

How do you think the architects will change as we gain indefinite lifespan?

I can’t speak to the archetypes themselves, but expect more knowledge and less wisdom.

I've been thinking about this question for a while now. I think some people will stall out and get stuck for long periods of time. Others will continue to progress. More people will likely survive into the magician/wizard phase of life. But there will also be more shadow archetypes as people get stuck for various reasons

I know this type of video isn't as popular as your ai vids, but important and appreciated nonetheless. I grew up reading Joseph Campbell and had some of those notions challenged by this vid m.ua-cam.com/video/Q9zR4lWyVN8/v-deo.html&pp=ygUURmlzaCBjYW1wYmVsbCBtYWdnaWU%3D .... Although this doesn't invalidate what you are saying at all. The archetypes you're talking about are timeless and universal imo. Also as a side note, I'm sure you have read King warrior magician lover?
