When he spoke at Whitneys funeral - always gets to me. They grew up together and were childhood friends. Two random people who were kids together, one grew up to be a musical superstar and one of the best female vocalists ever, the other a Hollywood leading man and A-List actor.
Kevin Costner was asked in an interview: if he had to do a sequel to any of his movies, what movie would that be? and Costner said, " the bodyguard if Whitney Houston can come back" and the interviewers swoooned😅❤. It was very sweet
Costner was doing a Bodyguard 2. He was already talking to Princess Diana about the part and she asked if the would be any kissing scenes with him? He said yes if she wanted there to be, which she wanted and accepted to the part! 14 days after Princess Diana Died!
My mom had dementia for a few years before she passed away. This was her favorite movie. She watched this over and over again every day for literally years. It brought her much happiness. She said everytime she watched that Kevin Costner was so handsome.
I'm sorry for your loss. Obviously there aren't many positives about dementia or Alzheimer's but I hope if I were to ever have either I could watch dances with wolves everyday for the first time. ♥️🥲
My great grandfather was this way with independence day. He watched that movie everyday basically on a loop. Never really told me the reasoning behind loving it so much though.
Like Pretty Woman, a great success too, it happens that many reaction UA-camrs are unaware of these successes, because they were very young or had not been born, but little by little they begin to discover these films.
This movie has not persevered over the years. The soundtrack will never die but the movie itself was of its time. A juggernaut of the time it came out and that's about it.
This movie is old, since this so many other movies came out. There is an ocean of movies out there and I am sure there are huge hits you forgot about. This movie and song shaming is so ret@rded....
Most people don’t realize this but the screenplay for this film was the very first screenplay that Lawrence Kasdan sold in Hollywood, back in 1977. He soon wrote another screenplay titled CONTINENTAL DIVIDE, which was soon sold to Universal and later made in 1981, starring John Belushi. Shortly after he sold that script to Universal at the recommendation of Steven Spielberg, he got a call from Spielberg, and shortly after that Spielberg introduced him to George Lucas, and the two of them hired him to write RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. After he’d delivered that screenplay to Lucas, Lucas hired him to rewrite the screenplay for STAR WARS, EPISODE V: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, the first draft having been written by veteran writer Leigh Brackett, who sadly had just recently died. So Kasdan enjoyed seeing his writing work being produced in very short order, and was able to land his first writing-directing job on his neo-noir film BODY HEAT (1981), starring William Hurt and Kathleen Turner. Meanwhile, THE BODYGUARD, which had been written in 1975 and rejected 67 times before being purchased by Warner Brothers back in 1977, was languishing in “development hell,” rewritten multiple times, was read by Costner when he was making Kasdan’s 1985 Western SILVERADO, and Costner took a liking to it, wanting to produce it. It took several more years, but it wasn’t finally produced until 1992, and this was the result.
@@Remington61189 Kasdan wrote the screenplay with McQueen in mind for the role of Frank, but since it never was greenlit as a production at any time before McQueen died in 1980, McQueen was never officially attached. I’m not even certain if he was ever sent a copy of the script to read.
I love stories like these from a Hollywood I grew up with and wanted to be part of. Always hoped my day would come if I worked hard for it. Never did, but its more of the idea that these sort of things you talked about don't happen as much anymore. More people are interested in screenplays attached to big name money making franchises. Good story though you shared. Cheers.
And Steve McQueen was to play the bodyguard to Diana Ross’s super star singer. That’s why Kevin. Ostentatious wore his hair like that in tribute to Steve McQueen.
Kevin held a very beautfiul speech at Whitneys funeral. They became good friends during the movie. She died way to young. She was a great singer. Great reaction as usuall Cassie 👍
Actually she and Costner knew each other when they were kids because they went to the same church and they were childhood friends. Costner fought hard for the movie to take a chance and give Whitney Houston this role when she had never acted before.
@ericwillison4011 they were not childhood friends, Costner is almost a decade older than Whitney. What he meant was as kids both grew up in the Baptist faith. He grew up in CA, she was in NJ. Plus that man was inlove with her, go watch all his interviews about her, he didn't just see her as a friend, he was very attracted to her.
This version of I Will Always Love You will always make me cry. Dolly Parton wrote this song in 1974, but Whitney made this song an international success and The Bodyguard is the best selling soundtrack of all time (according to Song Facts, anyway). RIP Whitney
I LOVE Whitney, and couldn't name 5 Dolly songs if my life depended on it, but it's Dollys version that gets me emotional cuz you can hear the sadness in hers. Whitney's is better in every way but that imho. But BOTH are phenomenal, an absolute rarity in originals/covers.
Originally is should have been a cover of ‘What become of a broken hearted’, but Paul Young made a hit with his cover version, so they had to find another.
I heard Whitney's version first, that led to hearing Dolly's. I prefer Dolly's but they are both great, and it't awesome that they can feel a different way, almost having a different meaning.
@@StinkyGreenBud - Cynicism begets cynicism - to that awful progression, I'll take Cassie's positive and caring outlook EVERY DAY of the week and TWICE on Sundays!
Whitney Houston's funeral was on CNN. She sold millions of singles of... The Star spangled banner! She was a mega talent and this was her first major actng role. It was a real home run all the way around. She was very solid acting and her singing was peerless. Glad to see this one rediscovered. It was one of the biggest movies that year and the soundtrack was Everywhere
My best friend's big brother was a HS intern at a metal radio station, and he said this got as many requests as GNR, Metallica etc for a few months 🤣🤣🤣
Soundtrack is still "everywhere" 😂😂😂❤❤❤ Best selling album by a female artist of all time Best selling soundtrack album of all time Into the Top 5 best selling albums of all time ❤❤❤❤
This was Whitney's first major movie role of four. Which also includes Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher's wife and Sparkle (Which she was a producer of) She also acted in and produced a live action Cinderella for ABC. Her production company also produced The Princess Diary movies and the Cheetah Girls movies. Before she released her first album she was on an episode of the sitcom Gimme a Break. She was also considered for the role of the oldest daughter on The Cosby Show. After she released her album she played herself on an episode of Silver Spoons
A wonderful musical, But a barely average actress. Those that think she is a good actress are simply wanting her to be because they love her so much. The love her fans have for her has skewed their ability to to admit her mediocre acying abilities.
@@bradjenkins1475 I have to agree and disagree. I can see her acting inexperience here in The Bodyguard but she definitely improved over time. Have you seen the movie Sparkle? Whitney was phenomenal. I mean she was arguably the greatest singer that ever lived so it’s hard to be just as great in other areas. 😂
Do you think she's a good actress? I could never quite tell if she was good or not. Top tier singer, obviously. Maybe the best of all time...but actress?
@@jevonk I absolutely have to agree she's one of the top 3 singers of all time. Maybe the best but certainly one of the best. I put her in Barber's stride sand as having 2 of the greatest female voices ever. I did not have the experience of seeing the movie sparkle so I certainly can't comment on it I was referring to this specific movie the bodyguard which being a guy I may not have been as open minded. But I did find the acting mediocre at best and possibly part of that could have been the script itself. Never said nor did I ever mean that she was a terrible actress my feeling was she was always approximately average. Despite the how it happened I do believe The world has lost a huge talent which always makes me say to myself what could they have done if they had not passed away sort of like when we lost John Lennon from The Beatles I had the same flat great performer but what more could he have done
I remember seeing this movie in the theater as a kid with my friends. We all loved it and immediately bought the soundtrack. I also remember when I found out Whitney had died. She was an astoundingly talented person and it's just heartbreaking that she's gone.
I was in 7th grade (1985), and living on Maui with my family, when Whitney Houston hit the radio airwaves. Back then, radio was still big, and the weekend was marked with music, in Casey Kasem's Top 100! Good times & great memories. The 80's was a magical time to grow up! Whitney's version of the Star Spangled Banner, from the 1991 Super Bowl, still gives me chills & makes me tear up, and I've seen it at least 50 times. And I can honestly say, I still haven't heard anyone else sing it better than she did. Whitney, was an undeniable vocal talent, but she was also a talented actor. It's so sad, she couldn't overcome her pains & troubles. So grateful she shared her amazing talents, in the short time she was with us. RIP Whitney.♥️ On an interesting & much lighter note, Whitney's mother is also a talented singer. Cissy Houston, sang back-up vocals for artists such as, Elvis Presley, and Aretha Franklin, among others. And Whitney's cousin, is Dionne Warwick. If you're not sure you've seen or heard of Dionne Warwick, check out Dionne's song, "That's What Friends Are For", (with Elton John, Stevie Wonder, & Gladys Knight). Beautiful, talented women, in that family for sure! Thanks for the reaction. Keep up the great work! Love from the PNW!🎄🦌🏞

And when KCC was just starting out, & only had like 3 outriggers. Mid 80's on Maui, as a kid...a magical time
Legend has it that Kevin Costner had a lot to do with the I Will Always Love You cover becoming so iconic as he was the one who suggested they do that big pause before the chorus started.
Yes the man who's not a Singer, had a lot in making the song iconic by saying "Hey pause here " So the Writer Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston's Vocals had nothing to do with the success only the pause made it successfull and Kevin Costner told her Pause and that made the song iconic 😅
@@tjhill8093 Not sure what your angst is about. It was also Costner's idea for Houston to do the track in the first place. He also convinced her to sing the intro acapella. He had a huge influence on helping make this song the hit it became. This is fact.
This movie was actually HUGE at the time of its release. The song was everywhere you went for almost a full year. I remember my dad got a speeding ticket on the way to the theater with the whole family lol. I guess he was in a hurry to see it.
@@Psilocybin77 Oh so it was super popular...I don't know why but I had the narrative that it was either middling or a flop, but everyone wanted the soundtrack. Should've known cause Costner was huge in early 90's.
@@ct6852 Nah this was huge at the time. That was when Whitney was at her peak of popularity. She sang the Star Spangled Banner at the Superbowl around that time and still to this day it's one of the greatest renditions ever. She was basically the 2nd biggest pop artist in the world around then, 2nd only to Michael Jackson.
Whitney had one of the greatest voices of all time and she was a surprisingly phenomenal actress in my mind. They had fantastic chemistry. I may be wrong, but I feel like I heard they had a bit of a real life romance after they made this together. Didn’t last obviously. She was gone way too soon.
The reason Frank fires at the unknown assailant in the woods with his eyes closed is so the bright muzzle flash from his gun doesn't ruin his night vision. He's aiming by the sound of the person running through the woods. If he had his eyes open when he shot, the muzzle flash would temporarily blind him, making it difficult to continue the pursuit.
Wrong, tactical defensive training reminds you to always have training shooting with both eyes because in a dark fire fight, you will have to secure a "night eye" learned from pirates using an eye patch to lure the ones they were fighting under the deck to swop out the eye patch to have better vision in the dark. You're supposed to completely close one eye and heavily squint with the other, for 3-5 shots, opening your squint consecutively then give pause then switch eyes to continue shooting. In his case he didn't need to return fire for long and used his night eye, or unblinded eye, to continue pursuit
@@AdrenalineandEpiphany what makes you think that are both ways of achieving the same goal? "in tactical defense training, bla bla bla" i sent home so many ppl who had "tactical training" but no mind and heart, just "training". open your eyes mate.
@@thomast8539 That's almost like saying Gone With the Wind is under the radar. I 100% understand what you're saying (and I love Cassie), but she was wrong in this case. Btw, don't you wish Carly was here for this one too??
Dolly Parton wrote "I Will Always Love You" when she left her mentor, Porter Wagoner, to go solo. She had a #1 hit with it - twice - ten years apart. Whitney Houston recorded it and it was an international hit. Dolly joked that with her success with the song, she went to the bank and when Whitney recorded it, Dolly said, "I bought the bank".
One of Whitney's movies that you should watch, especially for Christmas time, is "The Preacher's Wife" with Denzel Washington. It's a remake of an old 1940's movie called "The Bishop's Wife", but it's a great heartfelt Christmas story and one of her last great performances before her demise.
The loss of Whitney was tragic. The way she went was horrific. She was a gift that was just too good for us. I lost a daughter to drug addiction and when Whitney passed, it truly broke my heart. I love your reactions and look forward to more. You’re truly one of the best.
1st date with my now wife was to this movie. We named our daughter Marin after it. They actually made this into a musical, and it was very well done. Surprised my mice with the musical on our 20th anniversary a few years ago. Loved your reactions to the movie.
This movie was definitely not "under the radar", it was a big hit (it was #2 in the worldwide box office that year, making over 400 million worldwide, that's a big number for the early 90s. Only Aladdin made more). The soundtrack was #1 on charts all over the world as well, it won a bunch of grammys and is still one of the best selling albums of all time.
Pretty sure that Cassie meant that this 30 year old film is under the radar today, which it is. A whole new generation out there may be unaware of it and she may be perfectly correct in that assessment.
Every song was a hit ... I saw it 5 times in the theater. Everything was the movie. With her ,you crossed genres ! There was no race.... there was just Whitney.
Yes, you are so correct. Costner paid tribute to McQueen by adopting McQueen 's sense of clothing fashion & Steve's hairstyle. It was very classy of Costner to pay homage to McQueen in that way.
@@clevelandcbi Personally, I have not watched enough (the first two episodes) to form any opinion. However, I have heard great things about it from friends & it's supposed to be one of cable's top series. Season 5 started last month so it's must be pretty successful. Especially considering 2 prequels have already been developed based on Yellowstone & will debut very soon. I just haven't found time to binge watch Yellowstone's first 4 seasons already aired. Hope this helps.
@@clevelandcbiyes it is the best show going today, they are 4 episodes into season 5 currently, it’s a must watch if you’re a Costner fan or even a fan of great shows in general! Give it a watch
I always saw the ending as Frank moving on to his next assignment. On the plane scene at the end, Rachel is a little annoyed that Frank gave her a new bodyguard who was an older man. Towards the end, If you noticed, the praying priest was holding a little transponder cross in his hand that he could press to signal for Frank. Therefore, I think the priest was his new assignment.
I wore out my cassette tape of this Soundtrack. It was so good. Whitney was a legend and so talented. Unfortunately, she struggled with addiction and had her own demons as so many in Hollywood have.
@@Dave-hb7lx oh for sure. Its everywhere. But if you consider the Hollywood stars as a population, per capita it is certainly a big problem there. It's kind of ingrained in the culture.
Until drugs are treated like a social problem and not a criminal one, get ready for it to get worse. A lot worse before it gets better. The war on drugs was nothing more than a war on the American people.
Movies like The Bodyguard & Pretty Woman were regular rewatches in our house growing up. Even both soundtracks. We had them on cassette and my mom would play them in the car.
This movie brings so much, yeah its a bit cheesy at times but the chemistry was good (although I wish the characters had more backstory). Frank's dad was Ralph Waite, the patriarch of the 70s series "The Waltons" which was a fantastic story of a turn of the century mountain family. Thing that gets me is how some of this storyline followed Whitney's tragic life. She had such turmoil.
This movie was a Big hit when it came out. It ran in theatres for a long time because it was used as a date night movie. The women loved the music/romance and the boys liked the action. The soundtrack gave the movie Epic status and the single was everywhere around Christmas time. Funny thing is this is the first time I have seen more then the trailer/MTV clip of the movie.
I don't know if it's already been mentioned, but the song 'I Will Always Love You' was originally written and sung by Dolly Parton, and when Parton first heard Houston's cover of her song (something Kevin Costner personally asked Parton's permission for), she was driving and said the song was so amazing and beautiful that she couldn't believe those were her words, and she nearly wrecked her car because she was so caught up in Whitney's voice.
Fun fact: Gary kemp who played si was one of the guitarists for 80’s band spandau ballet along with his brother Martin who also became an actor. Both Gary & Martin kemp played the kray twins in a movie about their lives a few years before Gary did the bodyguard.
I just know this. Having been around Secret Service agents in my life....they are indeed the best of the best when it comes to security. Nothing is passed over. Everything is inspected and inspected again. This movie did a great job showing that. And great reaction as always. RIP Whitney Houston, you are still missed.
Kevin Costner gave part of, or the eulogy at Whitney's funeral, I think you can find it on UA-cam, his speech is amazing and he spoke of making this movie with her.
This soundtrack was huge. Remember listening to it the first time I'd ever been on an airplane and yelling over the headphones at my parents across the aisle because I forgot to take them off. Lol. But that scene at end on the tarmac was pretty for epic for movie romances. I like that it was her that got off the plane and ran to him. I think the scene is better that way. Gotta love how Cassie reacts to a climactic kissing scene like it's the winning touchdown of the Super Bowl. 💖
I remember I watched this one day as a teenager and someone who hated romantic movies. I was not expecting the mystery and action and suspense and it became one of my favourites.
I love that Frank never told Rachel that it was Nicki that put the hit out on her, why pour salt in an open wound, she was going through enough pain she just lost her sister, can you imagine finding out that she hated you and wanted you dead? I also wanted Rachel and Frank to end up together but they would never see each other and if one of them was to quit their job for the other they wouldn't be happy, they both have completely different lives, just like in Roman Holiday
Definitely not an under the radar cult classic……This movie was a MASSIVE hit in 1992 and the soundtrack is still, to this day, one of the top selling albums period of all time.
R.I.P. Whitney Houston, she may be gone...but her voice will forever sing in our hearts! To answer Cassie's question...I have seen her act in 2 other movies: "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Preacher's Wife." Both of which are totally chick flicks!
When she passed I was so heartbroken and even till this day I get emotional cuz I miss her so much! RIP Whitney Houston. We all still love you very much, See you in heaven one day!!
Whitney was quite a good actress in her own way. She was also in “Waiting to Exhale” with Angela Bassett & “The Preacher’s Wife” with Denzel Washington. Could mix both dramatic and comedic acting pretty well.
Child of the 80s. I still haven't gotten over my boyhood crushes on Whitney Houston or Kylie Minogue ;). Think I even saw this in the theatre, haven't seen it in 30 years and still remember the plot it left such an impression.
Your reaction to this absolute 90s classic brought me so much joy and happiness. Its great seeing someone react to this movie and Whitney talent. One of my all time favourite films! Whitney also starred in Waiting to Exhale, Cinderella, the Preachers Wife and Sparkle (the movie she made just before she tragically died)
LOL I loved your take on 'the ending' sure why not. Whitney's best film in her short-lived acting career and chemistry to burn w/Costner is indeed a guilty pleasure. If I recall back in the day this was originally intended as a Steve McQueen film. FYI: I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU was her cover of Dolly Parton's classic ode to her former partner/mentor/love Porter Wagoner. PS: there is a film biopic on Houston coming out this month in theatres.
Kevin Costner i believe said he wouldn't do this movie without Whitney and production was held off until she was ready or something like that. Amazing friendship these two had. There is a video on YT where its all about the making of this movie and how Kevin had a lot of say in how this movie was made right down to the producer, certainly worth watching.
you weren't around when movie soundtrack music videos were still a BIG thing... the theme song from the end, I will always love you was everywhere all everytime :D fun times. i miss them
Before the drugs Whitney Houston was the most incredible artist. It was heart wrenching to watch what happened to her. Truly gone before her time, but the tragedy began before her untimely passing. Happy you enjoyed the movie, and one tidbit for you, the iconic song Whitney sings at the end was actually written by Dolly Parton.
@@jonathanramos8414 Whitney grew up in a traditional values, God fearing, church-going family. Until she met rapper Bobby Brown she had never gone to nightclubs, being exposed to drugs, had anything to do with getting excessively drunk. She was completely unprepared for the rapper lifestyle. Essentially, Bobby Brown killed her.
I remember watching this as a kid when it came on TV. I liked it so much that I had recorded it on my VCR (took up 2 tapes) and I'd always watch it when I was "sick" at home from school. It's one of those movies I watch every few years because it just aged so well (minus the lack of cellphones). I love the character development and the conflict. It feels like every time something is resolved there's some new dilemma that puts a strain on everyone's relationship. And let's all just appreciate how amazing Frank was at knocking Fletcher out of the boat right before it blew up and how insanely tense that night time cabin scene was and how awesome the shootout was. Love this movie. And as everyone else has already mentioned...Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston kept a friendship going long after this movie. He's the one who wanted her cast in the role and later claims that other actors could have played his part, but nobody else could have played her role. I like Kevin Costner, but I think I have to agree. Whitney was terrific in this even if she was a bit bratty at times.
"I Will Always Love You" is a song originally written and recorded in 1973 by singer Dolly Parton. Her country version of the song (heard in the film) was released as a single in 1974 and was written as a farewell to her partner and mentor Porter Wagoner, after she made the decision to pursue a solo career.Whitney Houston recorded a version of the song that includes a saxophone solo by Kirk Whalum (for the film) this version is the one most remembered by everyone.
Good movie. Always enjoyed it each time I’ve watched it. Sad to know that Whitney Houston’s life took a turn shortly after this movie with addiction and a bad marriage with Bobby Brown. She was an amazing singer and performer. I always marveled how effortless she sang while flashing her gorgeous smile. If you’re ever feeling patriotic, watch her sing the National Anthem before Super Bowl 25 in Tampa, 1991. Her version is the best ever.
I always love hearing people’s different ideas about the status of their relationship at the end. Some believe they stayed together and other’s that they separated, loving each other but not together. For my part, I’m in the second group. The song tells it for me, I will always love you but I’m (we’re) not what you (each other) need.
I am currently a Personal Protection Specialist (Executive Protection/“bodyguard”) for a very popular singer and while this movie isn’t the most accurate, I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for doing this reaction video. Most people in this field cringe when the term “bodyguard” is used, but it’s the quickest way to convey our occupation to those who don’t know the job.
As a former Apprehension Agent, I 1000% understand the cringe part. For us it was hearing "bounty hunter," especially when that jackass on TV had his show. For the record, NOBODY in the industry dresses like Guns N Roses when the idea is to BLEND in and not alert people you're coming. 🤣🤣🤣
I owned and operated SET Security, Inc, in L.A. which in addition to providing security officers for film locations, I also personally protected a couple of dozen celeb clients while in plain clothes, the plainer the better. One day Oprah visited a movie set we were working on. She pulled up in a stretch limo and two suits with sunglasses jumped out looking like the Secret Service. I turned to my security supervisor and said "Ok, so you want to get to Oprah. Who do you take out first?".
THIS ONE WAS ALWAYS ON HBO IN THE 90s. SAW IT A HUNDRED TIMES. DECENT FLICK. WHITNEY WAS A GREAT ACTRESS & PHENOMENAL SINGER. A BRIGHT RARE LUMINOUS DIAMOND. R.I.P.
Dolly Parton wrote _I Will Always Love You_ in 1974, but not to convey the meaning most people take away from the song. She had joined the popular country music television show 'The Porter Wagoner Show' in 1967, a relative unknown alongside Porter, a powerhouse in the industry at the time. During her time on the show, her career took off like a rocket, and the time came when she wanted to leave the show and strike out on her own, but Porter did not want her to go. She began trying to get out of her contract in 1972, and though the two were friends, she fought with him on a business level to leave. Finally, in 1973, she solved her problem in typical Dolly fashion, by writing a song. _This_ song! When she played it for Porter in his office, he cried, and finally relented, letting her go. With only one exception: He wanted to produce it, saying it was the best thing she had ever written. She released the song in 1974, and it quickly became a popular love song to many. But if you read the lyrics with this story in mind, you can also see how it applied to their situation, of dissolving a business partnership. So Dolly left The Porter Wagoner show in 1974, her career never faltered, and she was in fact propelled into international mega stardom. Porter's star, however, ultimately waned. In fact, he sued her in 1979 for 'breech of contract' for leaving his show 5 years earlier, but said in interviews he still had great affection for her. And at one point, down on his luck, Porter's entire catalog of songs was to be sold to pay a debt. Rather than let strangers have the songs, along came Dolly, who bought the songs herself, relieving Porter's debt issues in the process, then turned around and gifted them back to her friend! And as Porter lay dying in 2007 from lung cancer, he was surrounded in his hospital room of course by family, but also there sat Dolly, who sang this song to her friend and his loved ones. So besides the story of how the song came to be recorded by Whitney Houston, which others have told more ably than I could, here is a bit of its history apart from Whitney's lovely rendition. It's quite a song, and Dolly's quite a songwriter!
You ever see Whitney Houston singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl? I still remember seeing that live when it aired. You can look it up on UA-cam. Yes, wow, Whitney Houston had 1 heck of an awesome voice and she also was gorgeous too. You ever watch the movie No Way Out or Revenge? Those are reall good thrillers with Kevin Costner. The Untouchables is another really good Kevin Costner movie. I think he was also a great Wyatt Earp in the movie of the same name. Waterworld is an underrated action movie with him in it. That movie did not do that well when it came out. It was actually a financial flop since so much money was invested into it. But, it is actually pretty good & fun too. I thought he was a really good Pa Kent in the DCEU movies.
The song "I Will Always Love You" was a Colossal hit for Whitney Houston (it was originally written and performed by Dolly Parton), such a Great song. Whitney's cover definitely did it Justice.
My favorite scene out of this whole amazing movie was when farmer and the other bodyguard are having it out in the kitchen Farmer keeps kicking his butt and then going right back to eating his fruit No talking just a brute exchange Then at the end he says “I don’t wanna talk about this again” Lmao 🤣 🙌🏻

Like Pretty Woman, a great success too, it happens that many reaction UA-camrs are unaware of these successes, because they were very young or had not been born, but little by little they begin to discover these films.
@@javix2013 Isn't Cassie in her thirties?
This movie has not persevered over the years. The soundtrack will never die but the movie itself was of its time. A juggernaut of the time it came out and that's about it.
This movie is old, since this so many other movies came out. There is an ocean of movies out there and I am sure there are huge hits you forgot about.
This movie and song shaming is so ret@rded....
I've heard a ton of people say they loved the soundtrack. But actually haven't heard that many younger people say that have actually seen the movie.
Thank you so much for the great background info on the "The Bodyguard" script. You are awesome for sharing!
@@Remington61189 Kasdan wrote the screenplay with McQueen in mind for the role of Frank, but since it never was greenlit as a production at any time before McQueen died in 1980, McQueen was never officially attached. I’m not even certain if he was ever sent a copy of the script to read.
Thank you for this information. I love hearing movie facts like this.
Dolly Parton sang the original version of "I Will Always Love You." She also said Whitney's cover was far superior. Both amazing people.

Whitney Houston's funeral was on CNN.
She sold millions of singles of... The Star spangled banner!

Yeah, she did a bunch of TV appearances back before this.
@@bradjenkins1475 I have to agree and disagree. I can see her acting inexperience here in The Bodyguard but she definitely improved over time. Have you seen the movie Sparkle? Whitney was phenomenal. Do you think she's a good actress? I could never quite tell if she was good or not. Top tier singer, obviously. Maybe the best of all time...but actress?

I absolutely have to agree she's one of the top 3 singers of all time.
Same. I was hard core into my Kevin Costner phase. I saw it when it came out in the theaters when I was 16.
She was amazing but loved cocaine and loved a man who loved to beat her unfortunately.
She ODed on drugs because her managers weren't looking after her mental health right?
RIP Whitney.♥️
On an interesting & much lighter note, Whitney's mother is also a talented singer. She was such an incredible singer. For my money there was never anyone better.
Legend has it that Kevin Costner had a lot to do with the I Will Always Love You cover becoming so iconic as he was the one who suggested they do that big pause before the chorus started.
You are correct it was his decision to have Whitney begin the song a capella and it was genius.
He doesn't enough credit
Yes the man who's not a Singer, had a lot in making the song iconic by saying "Hey pause here " So the Writer Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston's Vocals had nothing to do with the success only the pause made it successfull and Kevin Costner told her Pause and that made the song iconic 😅
@@tjhill8093 Not sure what your angst is about. It was also Costner's idea for Houston to do the track in the first place. He also convinced her to sing the intro acapella. He had a huge influence on helping make this song the hit it became. This is fact.
The man knows drama. There's nothing suspect about his suggestions being picked up.

Or he just lessened one sense to heighten another.
Reminds me of a quote from The Dark Tower. “I aim with my heart…not with my hand”.

Her voice gives me the chills and makes me tear up every time
Went to the cinema to see it, easily the most packed cinema I've ever been in !
Was a huge movie that year..
THIS ONE WAS ALWAYS ON HBO IN THE 90s. SAW IT A HUNDRED TIMES. DECENT FLICK. WHITNEY WAS A GREAT ACTRESS & PHENOMENAL SINGER. A BRIGHT RARE LUMINOUS DIAMOND. R.I.P.
No no goodbye! My fav part of the reaction lol. Whitney left us too soon. When she died Kevin did her eulogy at her funeral.
Thank you for reviewing this! I really love when a youtuber goes outside the box and isn’t reviewing whatever everyone else is!
One of the biggest soundtracks of all time
The song "I Will Always Love You" was a Colossal hit for Whitney Houston (it was originally written and performed by Dolly Parton), such a Great song. Whitney's cover definitely did it Justice.
"And they'll eat Chinese takeout from the fridge." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favorite scene out of this whole amazing movie was when farmer and the other bodyguard are having it out in the kitchen
Farmer keeps kicking his butt and then going right back to eating his fruit
No talking just a brute exchange
Then at the end he says “I don’t wanna talk about this again”
Lmao 🤣 🙌🏻
And still that whole exchange wasn't even half as brutal as "why don't you go back there and keep watching?" 🤣
@@vanyadolly hahahahhaa point well taken lmao 🤣 🙌🏻
I love this movie so much. Childhood memories flooding back 😄.
Your take…on the ending..is one I’ll take every time…at her funeral…he gave the eulogy at the church..and he wouldn’t take no…he wanted her for this movie..and when asked if he would ever do a sequel..which movie would it be…he said The Bodyguard..
The end with the song and the airplane hit home for me cause I’ve through a divorce after 16 years together. Its so painful good luck to all lovers out there. Great movie great reaction you’re so adorable.
Others have mentioned it, but if you really want to get your cry on, go watch the eulogy Kevin Costner gave at her funeral. It was beautiful. Gone too soon for sure
love the continued story, eating Chinese leftovers and adopting the kid.
Your reaction to the will/they won't/they in these movies is like how my friends and I react to a tight touchdown pass in football.
The soundtrack to this was the very first CD I ever got when i was around 8 years old. Since it's almost Christmas PLEASE watch While You Were Sleeping if you haven't already! You will love it!
Great memories with this movie! The scene at 11:40 used to scare me as a child! It was frightening seeing all those people toss her around like that and pull her clothes. Still one of my favorite movies of all time. A downright very entertaining film with a great soundtrack!
At last they start to react to this great success classic from the 90s, you are the second UA-camr to react to this movie, congratulations!!.
your "Head Canon" commentary is always so perfect!!! :D
The Whitney documentary is just fantastic!
Other then a few movies about herself, she really wasn't in many movies. One I remember was called "The Preacher's Wife" . I don't remember much about it but I think a lot of people liked that movie.
