Hiding under a desk would protect you (somewhat) from the debris and glass flying around caused by a blast further off. But go on, run around sprinkled with glass and concrede if you must! ;)
Rock of Ages II is an all-around better game and a perfect place to start (the stories don't really matter much, beyond just being funny), especially if you want to play with a friend (or with strangers online). That said, if you like it, I think you should also pick up Rock of Ages 1. I've seen it for pretty cheap during the sales and it's worth it for the stories.
Rock of Ages 1 has a lot of gameplay differences from its sequel and, alongside better designed boss fights and characters and stages that can't be found on the sequel, it's worth trying out as well. Personally I like the first one more than the second one due to some minor issues that I have with the sequel, such as the dumbed down boss fights, less stages and some severe technical issues.
Update I played the demo and it was not at all what I thought 😭 wasn't a fan of the wierd gameplay set up . I liked the races but it should've been all races with jumps, shortcuts, boulder strikes destroying famous landmarks changing the course , helpless pancaked pedestrians, and power ups . The turn based top down gameplay though bored the hell out of me. Might pick it up on sale cause of the races and comedy. Still never would've tried it if it wasn't for this review , thanks Cyril 👏
Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. For me, I think it's the Rampart-style strategy elements that make me get into the action. There is a race mode for that stuff, but I love the idea of buying and placing obstacles. Especially when it comes to going against other real people.
I know I'm nitpicking, but it really grinds my gears when people talk about the publisher as if they made the game. Atlas didn't, Ace Team did. Their whole back catalog is amazing. Hell they even made the first total conversion mod back in the day, "Batman Doom".
This is a fair point. As somebody to spends a lot of time covering indie developers, I do talk about the developer more than the publisher. In this case, I credited the publisher. You're right to call me out on this point.
@@DefunctGames as long as you're aware no biggie. Love your work. Your voice is wonderful. Keep on being a good voice on this endless shit hole we call UA-cam
I've been wondering the same thing. It's as if that review is in some kind of dead zone. I even had to double check to make sure it was live for people. Glad somebody found it.

Loved this game Idea. Saw a gameplay of the first a long time ago but forgot the name.
Maybe a level where it plays in a outer space setting :O
Can't think of an answer to that question but great review man never played ROA1 but always saw it on the marketplace .... looks really fun
So if I've never played the first RoA, should I skip it and play RoA2?
