As someone who’s been playing real time strategy games since the early early 2000s I can honestly say company of heroes has been one of my favorite franchises. So glad they came out with a third and are continuing to listen to player feedback to improve the last game so many years later.
I do like the whole "set the difficulty down to low" thing. CoH1 was the only RTS I really functioned in and still ended up in a contorted mess of dysfunctional keystroke ignorance and mental distress but I loved being able to play it at all. Unfortunately, I couldn't even work out how to operate CoH2 and gave up without completing a single scenario but this return to the look of CoH1 and your assertion of a chilled out vibe does stir my interest from the slumber I'd consigned it to. Cheers.
@@TyEats2200 well starcraft 2 campaign is easily playable without high apm since you can set the difficulty and you get nice story. Same as every strategy game that has a single player campaign. Just dont play multiplayer there will always be players that fight for the top ranks which we will never grab also you can play most of the games on your level even in multiplayer due to a matchmaking ranking that usually pair you with similarly difficult opponent as you. Starcraft 2 and Age of Empires 2 has that so you can enjoy those games too if you like these games :) you will loose first few games which will put you into a dificulty setting similiar to your own :) other than that play campaigns or skirmishes you usually can find good balamce there in most of the games
Hell yeah! I've played to 1st one competitively back in the late 00's, I think it was and is still probably one of the best and most complex rts games. I've also played some CoH2 multi but at first I didn't really like the balance and later I just didn't have enough time for it sadly.
This looks like great fun. Another game to add to the list of reasons to upgrade my PC! I know this one's a sponsored vid, but if you wanted to do more vids of this I'd watch them.
Homeworld got me into Relic, COH made me a lifelong fan. COH3 still has some bugs and garbage AI, but it looks like this will be a remake of COH1 which was much needed. I mainly play AOE4 now. Another relic game..
COH1 and 2 were both great. This one looks good as well, but what I liked in predecessors was the limited resources player had to complete the mission. Here they moved towards gameplay from Z or recent Dune Spice Wars. Really hoped for an improved COH2 TBH
For some reason the CoH 2 reddit has decided this game is evil and must be destroyed, so they've been review bombing it since it came out. It's weird because it's really fun, and feels doesn't feel off from the last 2. I can't figure out why they hate it so much.
I'm sorry I'm not spending 60$ on this. I just DLed CoH1 Blitskrieg mod and saved 60$ lol. I am really happy it's getting people interested in RTS though, mission accomplished on that front imo. The problem is, frankly, that if you've been playing RTS a very long time, you're sensitive to visual and sound changes more so than other games. The reason I even play the game is because of the sound and atmosphere. If that gets diluted, then we have a problem. A lot of stuff got diluted. The strategy over map and Afrika Corp stuff isn't enough to get me to spend 60$. I will wait until a sale.
To be fair if you prefer the gameplay the the blitzkreig mod provides you really don’t want to play company of heros you want to play something more realistic like men of war or gates of hell
@@Hunter_6601 It depends how much fiddling you can tolerate. CoH is extremely polished UI and simple mechanics that a mod adding complexity that is grafted onto CoH can be superior to a more niche game. Nothing against those other games, they are excellent. Just a higher barrier to entry.
I agree with your thoughts on Relic. Dawn of War II was a bit of a mixed bag with a lot of good, sprinkled in with a fair bit of bad design, but overall a positive experience. WH40K Space Marine was a departure from their usual faire but it worked pretty well, despite being a bit janky and rough around the edges. After that though, things went downhill. CoH2 wasnt... bad, but atleast from my perspective it felt bland and just a worse version of DoW 2, to the point where I never got it myself. And then DoW III was such a dumpsterfire of a game that I honestly thought the company had gone under for good. Age of Empires 4 was deffinitely a move in the right direction, but again, as a fan of Strategy games since Command & Conquer I just didnt feel like the game was worth my time. But atleast with AoE4 it was more a personal preference thing rather than straight up bad game design. Had the AI not been as derpy as it was I might have bought it. But this? This looks promising. It feels at a glance to be the best bits from DoW2 that worked with a fair bit of extra campaign development sprinkled in.
I think you just dont like Company of heroes that much then, but Coh 2 was definitely better than dawn of war 2 and overall a great game. It could also be that you prefer sci fi over ww2
@@haakonglindtvad5489 Yes, IMO, a game like call of duty that is more costly to develop and is a more graphically challenging game should cost more, but to put it simply, COH, which does not require the cost associated with game development should cost less, maybe 39.Hope this helps you
just because rts that was made is not prefer to your liking doesnt mean other will be the same as you, go cry in the fckin corner and create your own rts game 😎
@@goy0551 Go ahead bro enjoy a game that is subpar and took 10+ years to make. IGN rated it a 6/10 bro. No ones crying lmao its just the truth bud. A 15 year old could dev a better game than this multimillion dollar company.
Never have I had the opportunity of gettin the first comment on a youtube video before and even though I think it is lame, it is lamer to haven an opportunity and not take it. FIRST!
No No No, please don’t praise this game. It’s got 50% reviews on steam for a triple A game that everyone waited 10 years for and it’s reverting back to decade old style graphics!?!? Do a review on COH2 you’ll have more fun
I just bought the game and I am disappointed beyond all belief...COH1 and 2 have been my favorite games of all time...literally play almost nothing else...but coh3 is awful...Its like coh1 without the fun parts and bad graphics...and rts games dont usually come with perfect graphic expectations...

1 Like = 1 Manpower
It won't be long before the Spiffing Brit perfectly balances the game with no exploits what so ever.
Yess
*sips Yorkshire tea*
Coh2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Glad to see this series getting some attention!
This. I've played so much CoH2 and I've knowingly ignored that CoH3 was being made.
I have responsabilities. Don't do this to me. :(
A freeplay mode with the Italian Campaign (on both sides) and North Africa would make this exactly what I want in this game - a WW2 Total War

Agreed, it's kinda sad that so many RTS titles went the Starcraft e-sports route of high APM response and meta tactics.
@@danjal87nldo you have any recommendations for rts or strategy games in general that don’t follow this high apm formula?

I'm genuinely surprised that the cover system in CoH isn't used in every modern RTS game.

so amazing and happy to see you playing the best RTS ever!!

Nice to hear, can't wait for more CoH content 😁

This game seems really fun. I hope you play some more for us on youtube (even without the sponsorship)
The campaign sucks badly :(
Wargame Euro Escalation, Airland Battle and Red Dragon has a similar style campaign system to this
was gonna hold back cuz of the reviews but THIS GAME HAS A CAMPAIGN MAP? That's it. Im in.
I'm so confused. The steam reviews act like this game murdered their kid, but all the reviews I can find say it's pretty damn good.
No. It is not! Did you play the original CoH or Coh2! This game is the worst on every front. The sound design is a huge letdown!

still worth 60$ though
“Liberate Italy” Italy was on the side of the nazis during ww2 lol
Italy surrendered to the Allies and switched sides in 1943.
Tanks for showing us the new game
its gets better when the patches and fix gets loaded up
I haven't really played an RTS since Warcraft 2 and Starcraft back in the nineties. I'm satisfied with my decisions.
LETS GOOOOOOO COH3 CONTENT!!!!!
Miss CoH2
1080p only?
Please play more, also you can double click a building which will ato build it 22:48
Looks like the game could have used a week or two polish
Wow, same graphics 20 years later, gj!
can you assign unitgroups to hotkeys?

THERES A CAMPAIN MAP?
Goodbye to my life
An someone tell me how the multiplayer is?
You had me at low APM
I really wanted to get back into the AoE RTS but then I watched the 400APM hyper meta to be any good at it so I settled for watching videos
Is it really RTS if you have play it in turns?
The AI is absolutely braindead in this game. Huge deal breaker.
Sooo Relic is done right? They can't possibly keep going after this and AOEIV? They've dug too deep a hole.
Use attack ground to fire through smoke dude
Ahhhh
I suck some much at this game, i have like 10 hours in multiplayer and have lost all but like 3 or so matches even in 4v4, 3v3, 2v2, 1v1
Did I miss something, or was this titled "The next civilization game is coming"
Oh I see what happened UA-cam put the title of the other video in the notification but linked the thumbnail to this one
Wow, just went to steam, they want 60 for this. Way too much for an RTS, ill wait until they drop the price

Sponsored...ah paid for positive reviews, nice.
Did you tell your viewers what a huge downgrade CoH 3 graphically, physically and soundwise to CoH1 and 2 is?
@Riotdrop potato Mc whiskey
Prefer this to 2 especially in gameplay agree with the weapon sounds tho

Too bad this game is unfinished and shallow
"rekindled my love for RTS" meaning, haven't played RTS games for a long time. I need the opinion of someone who has been actively playing RTS games.
