The Neverending Story, which has a basic structure that feels like The Princess Bride.
Clue is often on the list as well, it always procures great laughs.
Muriel's Wedding is bittersweet and iconic, just great when you feel bad and want people to take pity on you and bring you soup!
Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion is something I never get bored by. From the fantastic music to all the classic lines, it makes me feel better.
The rest of my list are local French-language Québec movies, like Academy award-nominated The Decline of the American Empire (top notch flying dialogue, similar to Sorkin), Cruising Bar (1 actor playing all 4 main characters), and the great coming-of-age movie Leolo (beloved by Roger Ebert and in the running for a Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1992).
Pirates of the Caribbean - the curse of the black Pearl
The Princess Bride is my favorite movie of all time. The story is just incredible and the movie is so epic. I’ve read the original book (fantastic) and I’ve read Cary Elwes’ book about the filming process (it’s called As You Wish and it’s phenomenal). It’s just film perfection.

Man, what GREAT, great suggestions! So happy to see Princess Bride and Way Way Back listed, big fan of those. Also, I couldn't agree more on Superhero movies taking themselves way too seriously today, I miss the cheesiness of action flicks of the 90's. When I'm sick, I love watching "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid" (damn, were those guys CHARISMATIC), "Rocket Man", and "Superman" (The first Reeve from '78, such an upbeat, hopeful and positive portrayal of Sups and romance in general, I get emotional every time!).
RomComs like Set It Up need to come back, the genre deserves a true golden age (where they’re both good, and also not over saturated)
Growing up we had a "sick tape" which was a VHS with a bunch of cartoon movies and shows recorded on it. In order: Pinocchio, Dumbo, the first 5 episodes of The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin, Daffy Duck's Fantastic Island, and How Bugs Bunny Won the West. Whenever one of my siblings or I was sick, my mom would pop that tape in and we would just curl up on the couch and watch it all day. I wonder if my mom still has that tape.

I like to watch trippy movies when I'm sick because it all feels like a fever dream. 😂 I watched Fantastic Mr. Fox for the first time the other day while I was dying on the couch and I got to the end like "I have no idea what I just watched, but it was a e s t h e t i c" 😂

My number 1 I have to watch every time I get sick is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, it’s so much fun and is super funny. It’s always a great distraction, I think in part due to Ferris and co’s actions of the day and it being a fake sick day for Ferris partially helps trick myself into thinking that I’m actually fine, at least for a little while. My other big sick day movie is 10 things I hate about you. Love these movies.

My roommate and I got to see The Princess Bride in theaters during its 30th anniversary a couple years ago, and it was like a dream come true to see that on the big screen. It was also sweet to see folks both older and younger than us enjoying it.

The Way Way Back is maybe in my top 10. Just a fantastic movie. Such a great story, a cast firing on all cylinders, and of course my boi Sam Rockgreat.
I wish I could say more because this movie deserves it. But it's one of those movies where I like it so much I can't analyze it.
I’m laughing cause my mom was sick home with the flu and she binged the godfather for the first time, she said it was a perfect time to watch it. Me personally, I like gibili movies like Ponyo 🧡💙
I still think Bug's Life is one of Pixar's best films, but if you asked a 100 people to list the first 3 Pixar films they can think of off the top of their head I'd bet not one of them would say Bug's Life. I don't get it.
One of my go to sick movies is American Outlaws (2001). This is a movie I always recommend to friends and while it may be because of nostalgic rose-coloring, I believe the combo of action and comedy is nearly perfect.
I too love Princess Bride and will watch that till the day I day, in fact, maybe the day I die if I have any control over that.

I’d likely reach for Bringing Up Baby or any other funny Cary Grant flick; they make me feel warm and cosy. When I’m sick, I want to feel secure that nothing bad is going to happen, I want a Happy End - and I need a true gentleman…😊
As soon as I’m a little better, I’d grab Shaun Of The Dead (and maybe Hot Fuzz straight afterwards).

1. Princess Bride (why would I change what you've got there? It's the best)
2. Mean Girls (but I also love The Way Way Back and you're the first person on here I've heard mention it)
3. Wanted or Hot Fuzz (Wanted when I'm sick/down; Hot Fuzz for self-inflicted hangovers)
4. About Time (wholesome, minimal stress rom-com/family movie with a great message)
5. (Controversy) I pick a DreamWorks film instead: any Kung Fu Panda film, The Road to El Dorado, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, or - more recently - Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Yesss Hot Fuzz was one I watched to death, when I moved and was without cable I watched it and then replayed it with the commentary immediately afterward

The perfect docu series is the great British castle on Netflix..I was sick and the thing cure me was sitting on couch watching this series and gurgle hot water and salt.

my number one is demolition man. its got sly and wesley snipes. lots of action both fisticuffs and guns. its sci fi being in the future. and importantly its funny as hell how the future turned out...... my 2 and 3 are a toss up between the rush hour franchise and back to the future. if i want more comedy itll be rush hour, if i wanted more feel good itll be back to the future. 4 would be die hard 1 and 3 specifically i mean 2 is ok i guess but i liked 1 and 3 more personally. not sure about the last one something classic or oldish. probably with old action stars like sly or arnold. maybe rocky/rambo or terminator 2/ true lies idk.
