To anyone that thinks adopting an older dog isn't a good idea, listen to my story. I was 72 and alone, so I thought I'd like some company. The local shelter (fosters only) asked me to adopt Mitzi, she was 13. I've had her for almost 4 years now and we are a good fit. She doesn't have that puppy energy and neither do I. She tends to sleep a lot and some days I'm out for a couple of hours, so it works out fine. She wants a walk (or I should say a smell) two times a day and that helps keep me up on my feet. I don't know how much longer I'll have her, but I would never think of turning her back to the shelter. She's earned the right to be home till she crosses that rainbow bridge.
Thank you for posting this. I’m also 72 and just lost my dog that I found as a stray, 16 years ago. I understand that I cannot have that length of a relationship with another pet. But adopting a senior dog would be the right way for me to go. Sadly, most of the rescue agencies in my area actually reject me, due to my age, however.

PUPDATE March 27th: MILO GOT ADOPTED!!! 🐶❤ Out of interest I checked his profile again today and during the last days it finally changed from "adoptable" to "pending" to "adopted"! Everybody interested can follow the links and search for his name on the rescue's page, but there aren't any further details. Maybe Rocky is gonna provide us with a short update soon as well, but I'd say it's valid, because it's his official page. Thank you to the people who are giving this senior another chance and safe and happy place among them! Much health and luck to everybody and let's hope that the other dogs (both in that rescue, as well as the ones waiting in the shelter) find a forever home soon - just like he did! ❤👏🐕🎉🎉🎉
So happy for him. He’s so sweet and adorable. Much love and life to him. I seriously don’t think I could abandon my dogs like that. They mean too much to me.
@@lynnm6413 And elderly persons who have severe health issues and just can no longer care for their lovey. I'm older and want to adopt a senior but am waiting until I retire because of schedule and no available doggy daycare. Probably won't be able to because I'm not fencing my yard. I've owned several dogs over my life and never had a fenced yard. I can agree that specific dogs may need a fence (like the shiba inu down the street), but I've had no problems with not having one. If the shelters want to adopt out dogs they may want to reconsider this rule on a case-by-case basis.
💯 agree, what kind of human dumped their pets just because theyre old..everyone of us will be old, so coldhearted...its enough to tell what kind of person they are... Pets are family 😢
All of those commenting here have never had the harsh, painful reality of life hit them. Sometimes life does crappy things to you that are not in your control and you lose everything including the ability to keep your pets. They surrendered to a shelter instead of abandoning him or having him put down. That alone shows they are decent people.
I have a friend who does that. She's had a series of about 4 senior dogs so far with somewhat special needs and she gives them a wonderful home and a happy "retirement."
I just cannot understand in any way how you could dump your elderly dog after being with you for 12 years. It's utterly heartbreaking and cold hearted. Disgusting.
I don't understand either, why would you dump them right when they need you the most? So cruel, I hate people who do crap like that, I could never look my dog in the face and turn him over to anyone. I mean they had that dog 12 years and they just drop him off because he gets old? F*** those people.
I agree. I make lifetime commitments with all my animals! And i have paid higher rent and managed somehow just to keep them. If they cant go, i dont go, period. Unexcusable!!
Maybe they could no longer afford her medical expenses. I guess we shouldn't jump to conclusions. Of course, if the person wasn't blubbering while taking selfies with her.....
I adopted a sweet little girl, 12 years old, she was left in a shelter. I took her home, had her groomed, cleaned up, dental care, then let her run in my large, fenced back yard. She lived 6 more years, with good nutrition, and tons of love.
You don’t get to trade a living creature in like a car. Unless there are serious issues (death of an owner, eviction etc without anyone to help), that animal is there for life, just like a child. They aren’t accessories. Poor Milo, he seems so sweet and still so full of life! Would probably make a wonderful companion for someone who likes to take easy walks and cuddle on the couch.
I would never give my dog up because he was old and I have held all my dogs as they were being put to sleep and reminded them of all the love they gave me, then went to the car and bawled my eyes out.
So from what you said they had him for 12 years!!!! I wish I was in your neck of the woods Id have him immediately, hes so very loving even though hes been abandoned. I love gou Milo ❤ I pray someone gives you the home you deserve.😊
I have a 17 yo toy poodle that is blind and has dementia and as tough as it is, I would NEVER do that to him. I pray someone takes him. Heart breaking.
I have an 11 yo Maltese that I rescued from a hoarder situation 8 years ago and have not regretted it one bit. We have four(4) rescue dogs & one rescue 19 year old tabby whom has her share of health issues. My Maltese has dementia, hard of hearing, losing her eyesight and wears diapers, BUT she’s the joy of my day and life. God Bless All Rescuers
I adopted a little dog that was 12yrs old and had been to the shelter twice. They said she would only last 6 months. We decided to make them the best she ever had. She lived until 18 and I never anything extreme with vets. Just love ❤️
I only adopt throwaways, on the street, in kill shelters, abandoned, beaten, broken, all are welcome in my home filled with love, organic home-cooked food, holistic vet care, acupuncture, chiropractic, whatever it takes. Age does not matter. As I age I will adopt older pups. I always tell them they have to outlive Mommy. My kids have made it to 18, 17, 16 and who knows since many were just dumped. Thank you, Rocky, for giving your heart and resources to these precious souls. Every one of God's creatures understands and thrives on unconditional love.
@@1voiceworks I’ve done the same for most of my life now. I grew up w/a wonderful mom who took in all rejects. I’ve been on seniors for several years now. Rehomed many after rehabbed, & keep moving on to more. The ‘taller orders’, I’ve always kept. ♥🐾
12 years and 4 mo 😢 and they dumped him in his senior years..shame on that family!! 🤬 All I know is if I had to live in my vehicle to keep my dog I WOULD! If I had to get two jobs to feed my dog, I WOULD. If I was on my death bed, I'd made plans to get my dog a forever home! No excuses!!
Not all cases are like this though. Sometimes its falling on hard times. But in this case it sad sounds like they gave up cuz of a family issue and they didn't want to but did anyways. Never know what is going on. We can't always judge. Hopefully his life will be better now that's the main thing. We can't fault the owner just be as caring as we can towards the animal.
Hi..it’s me the 78 yr old lady you all wrote to that adopts senior dogs…..your letters touched my heart so much, and watching this video makes me realize how important it is to rescue these precious seniors! My current senior is a Maltese, and the joy she has brought me is indescribable! They appreciate the love you give them! It was hard losing my three seniors in the last two years….miniature schnauzer, Bichon, and Maltipoo…..different personalities but so loved! Please consider adopting the older dogs,…sometimes they are overlooked! I was so overwhelmed by your sweet notes! ❤ My heart breaks for the seniors turned in because the owner doesn’t want them. Dogs are family to me! I would hate to think my family wants to get rid of me now I am old!
Honestly, that is heartbreaking and shameful. Who does that? Do they not have one small ounce of love for their family pet of 12 years??? If I were close by, I'd adopt him immediately and let him live out his life on the mountain...and I've never even had a dog in my life. He deserves to be loved and held in his family's arms up to the very day he passes. That is horrible and disgusting. Heartless people...narsisissts? How could you? Mindset???
Bragging that you never owned a dog...apparently you are also too good to foster, huh? I have 10 rescue dogs one I just got who is 14 and Im a single person who works full time.
@@blackdogslivesmatter1568 Slow down there, partner. Some people would love to adopt or foster a dog but don’t have the lifestyle, income, and/or housing accommodations to take on that responsibility. For example, I live in a walk-up with no yard and have a long daily commute to work. I decided that adopting a dog would be unfair to the dog and decided to adopt a cat instead. You outdogged me. Good job! 👍
@@marys.currie9026 yes, we can. They are not furniture. Would you leave a child behind if it wasn't convenient to take them with? Pets are family, you figure it out!!
When I worked in rescue, the top reason for surrender was they got a pop and the old dog didn't get on. They dumped the old dog and kept the pup 99% of the time 😢 Broke my heart as most of them just wanted cuddles and sleep.
I hate it when people abandon senior animals. They brought you so much joy in your life and then to ditch them when they become seniors is so messed up.
He may have been left when they went on vacation and thinks they’ll be back for him. I wish I could go get him but I’m too far away too and my apartment complex won’t let me have a dog. Breaks my heart. 🥺
He's so sweet and I hope he's been adopted. I adopted a 10 year old senior dog from Humane Animal Rescue. He was found in the streets in an urban area..He was underweight. The shelter had to shave off most of his fur because of severe matting and fleas. His teeth were decayed, and he required many extractions. They also neutered him. I named him Buddy. I told him I loved him, and he was a good boy. I promised he would always have a home with us. He is a cherished family member. That was five years ago. He's 15 now and he continues to give me joy, love, and companionship. Senior dogs are the best.
Seeing this made me drop tears. I am going to chip in £10 to help with the cost for his grooming. Lots of love to Milo all the way from London United Kingdom. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are a wonderfully kind person watching Rocky's channel from half way around the world! So nice of you to donate to Milos care, you warm my heart! 😊
Poor thing, he probably thinks he is somewhere else for the minute and "Mom and Dad are gonna come back". When he is there for more than a day and reality sinks in that they aren't coming back, I think that happy face will disappear. I hope he finds a real home with real humans who will love him and never abandon him. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ for Milo. I have a dog, she turns 11 this year, I will NEVER abandon her, ever.
Yeah he probably thinks they have put him in kennels whilst on holiday but little does he know they gave up on him and threw him away like a pair of old socks.😢😢
July, 2020, I drove from DFW, Texas, to Kearney, Nebraska. To pick up a 12 year old female sheltie. Owner surrender. Was a 14-hour drive, one way, straight through. Never say never. I won't promise, but, pretty sure God whispered to me, to go get her. So I did. I have never before done anything so wild, but, there I was. Kiara was with us a whole 2 and 1/2 more years. She was an absolute lovebug. ❤ You just never know.
I drove 6 hrs to rescue my cat many yrs ago. We spent 14 years together before I lost her to cancer 1.5 yrs ago. Have since adopted siblings but drive was only 2 hrs this time.
who knows the story behind ? maybe the owner got sick and facing HUGE medical bills ?. Never judge a book by its cover. All the best this cute lovely dog is SAVE NOW.
This made me laugh. I had a sweatshirt that had "I'm not Fat, I'm Fluffy" a million years ago. Hadn't thought of that thing in ages. It was the most comfy sweatshirt I ever owned, wore it until it was a rag. I wasn't fat or fluffy, just loved the soft feel of that sweatshirt 😂.
I'm a Senior and I've had puppies and now I'm adopting Senior dogs. I adopted my current dog in October of 2022, when he was 11 and he's also blind. He is so sweet and I'm so happy to have him in my life. He's house trained and so very loving. I can tell that whoever adopts Milo, will definitely be a lucky person and I hope that will be soon for Milo's sake! Milo is a special dog!
He is so adorable!!!!! How could his family do this to him? It is a disgrace to do this to this precious fur baby. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Or maybe it is the only way to give this dog another chance if the family is breaking up and he would be neglected? You know absolutely nothing about the reasoning, why being a shithead on the internet to a person you don't know and have nothing to do with? And the comment gets even creator-liked, thats actually disgraceful. Talk about positive energy and family-friendliness, more like teaching kids how to be pricks without knowledge. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I think our society is so terrified of death and dying that most people set the aged aside. We put our elderly end up in nursing home, and our unfotunate pets are either put down or left in a shelter. With the last 2 dogs we had were in the process of dying, iIstayed in a quiet, comfortable with them. I pet them, talked to them, prayed for them, and amazingly enough got to play with them for short bits. Yes, it hurts when they leave, but abimals know birth and understand death. They also understand love, respect, and their value to us. One of the dogs that recently passed was my best friend's dogs. He chose to stay home instead of going to a nursing home. He died peacefully in my arms with his dog beide him. I hope that when I go, my dog gets to be around me ❤ so he knows i didn’t leave but it was my time.
Poor baby! Milo is so sweet and beautiful! Selfish, heartless owners who abandon their pets should never be allowed to own any animals again. So many wonderful dogs are abandoned for stupid, selfish reasons, like they're too old, or we don't have time for a puppy, or my new partner doesn't like him. They need to realize that dogs are for life - the life of that dog - not just until they become an "inconvenience" for whatever reason. It makes me sick and so angry! God bless all dogs! They deserve so much better.I LOVE YOU, MILO! ♥♥♥
My husband is terminally ill and I am caring for him with hospice helping me. After he is gone to God, I plan on adopting an older dog for company and prorection. I'm an older lady (just turned 68), so we should work out well! I wish Milo could be my new furever friend! Adding on that I have a twelve year old kitty and a sixteen year old kitty. We're not even near the end of our lives!
You FIND the budget, doesn't matter how, but you find it SOMEHOW. They're a member of the family and it pains me to think that someone would turn their back on a family member that asks for very little in exchange for a lifetime of unconditional love 😢
Or you simply can't and it would be neglection to the pet if you can't spend the time and stuff he needs? Dogs are dogs, children are children. If it came down to it, my children would always win out over my dogs and I would give them away with a heavy heart if it means I can get my children what they need. Yes, my dogs are/were my most loyal friends and I can't imagine a life without one, but if it came down to it, why should my pet be worth more than my actual child with my blood? I really hope you guys don't have kids, it would be horrifying if you set them one the same level of worthiness like dogs. Stop being shortsighted pricks, thats just disgraceful.
He's adorable! My husband and I rescue "old" dogs from our local shelter. We have never had a "dud" yet! I encourage any dog lovers to try an old dog. They are amazed and grateful! And solo loving! We usually change the dog's name, which seems to make the adjustment faster. We have never regretted a single rescue. Our first stop is the groomer we have used for over a decade! One was a tiny terrier who had been beaten!!!! She literally screamed the first time I picked her up in my arms. It took a few weeks to get her potty trained, and in the process she learned to trust and love again. No regrets for any of the dogs we have taken in. It has changed our lives and theirs. In addition, two family members have started to do the same. Spread the love.😘
One thought occurs to me since the man was taking selfies and said it was a divorce situation, it could just be that he turned precious Milo in out of pure spite to the soon to be ex-wife! Milo could have been very loved by her. You never know what makes some people tick, but he is just like a child of divorce if that was even true, but you don’t throw your children away either. That person is very in-mature and again the selfie was probably proof and being spiteful. I sure hope Milo gets all the love he deserves in a beautiful adoption as he is so sweet and just chill. What a wonderful precious dog. Thank you for all you do. Oh and I’m sure he will feel better after a bath, what dog doesn’t. Good luck sweet Milo, not that you need it. ❤️🐕😘
My parents have an old friend whose ex-wife put down both the springers they had had for 8 years out of pure spite when she left him. People can be absolutely awful.
I know someone who ex did that . Dropped the dog off and pretend to act as though the dog was found chained up to a pole . After adopting the dog and it being in the home for years to do this to that dog is shameful.
@@LiannTV No, Liann, this is wrong information. A rescue is not a sanctuary, otherwise they would have written so. Luckily, over the last days his status changed from "adoptable" to "adoption pending", so there's probably and hopefully soon going to be an update.
Adopting a senior is such a loving thing to do, and the love you get is 100x. We just adopted a 10 year old blind poodle who was tied up outside the shelter in the middle of the night. Was about to be put down, but Casey with AdoptMe rescue in Studio City rescued her, nursed her to health and I saw her for months on Pet Finder and knew we had to get her. Now she’s with us and is the best! Seniors are so loving, everyone, consider adopting a senior dog!
The saddest thing is that he may be only a small part of your life but you are his entire world. How can someone do that. Why does this world have so many heartless people?
Cuz divorce forcing you to rent a place that doesn't allow dogs should put you on a "never" list? Hope life never hits you hard... cuz by your standards, you never should get a second chance. Smh. You should be on a list of "people not allowed to make mistakes". Hope you have been a perfect person cuz God forbid you ever have to make a decision you don't want to... or you might be judged harshly for it... as you have judged others.
Milo's story breaks my heart. It's the "selfies" that did it for me. How could you, he is the SWEETEST boy?!! I don't have any dogs (or pets) right now because 1) I can't afford to properly care for one (mainly medical) and 2) I'm not home enough so it wouldn't be fair. But mark my words.. when the day comes, I will go to my local shelter and ask to see their senior pets. There is no way I would ever leave with a puppy when senior dogs are calm, loving and ready to be your best friend for the rest of their days. ❤
I can’t understand why anyone would take their dog to a shelter just because they are a senior. What a gorgeous dog and shame on the owners who abandoned him.
@joyceflowershed Let's see. Hamas tortured and murdered 1200 innocent people. Putin has been the person who has caused the deaths of half a million people on both sides. He murdered his political opponent. People in our cities are shot and stabbed every day. That's how callous.
I can't figure out in my mind how people can do that. Yes I can understand if they aren't able to care for the dog for medical reasons or something I get it but that wasn't the case here they just dumped him.
I almost cant watch this! When people turn in a dog "because he's old now" just pisses me off so so so much! This is a member of your family! Are these the kind of people who put their dad in a county home, because he's old? My little guy will be 10 this year, and I would never give him up. My plan is, once my furboy is gone, I want to foster elder dogs and help them find homes.
Rocky, im very upset over this beautiful dog, so loving, i know times are hard, but im 77 yo, on a limited budget, ive adopt dog throughout my life, matter of i have one now, i feed 12 feral cats, which an organization helped me get them all fixed shots included, i agreed to keep them here and will continue to feed them, my granddaughter helped me make little shelters for them out of wood, salvaged wood frim dressers and pallets, they all have their blankets x2, they get fed every day, some treats or canned salmon. Our whole are into rescuing dogs, cats, theres no excuse to not care and love creatures. My heart melts for all the dogs you work with and find homes for them. Dolores
I will adopt him now but I live in NC. I love senior dogs. I have 4 dogs currently and one is 14+. You don’t quit loving a dog because he is old. My 14 year old can no longer climb the stairs so I carry her up and down. It’s not a burden because I love her. I rescued her when she was 9 and she has been a joy!!
Depends on the breed. Some get aggressive as they age because they don't know how to interpret the pain that comes to the aged. Imagine if you had arthritis pain constantly and were unable to get relief.😢 It sucks that they turned him in, but better than dumping him somewhere with no shelter food or water.
I'm a senior and my last four dogs were seniors .. my present dogs were 11 when i adopted them ,they are both full of life ,so well behaved....they give me so much love,im so blessed. Its so rewarding
Such a sweet and happy dog.... So full of life.... I wish I lived near, but I am half a world away ... I would take Milo in a minute .. such a lovebug ❣️Wishing Milo Heaven's blessings ❣️
Mats HURT. The ones closest to the skin leave welts. Take your finger and twirl your hair tightly against your scalp until it hurts. That’s what a mat feels like.
This is heartbreaking. How cruel to abandon him because he’s old, UNBELIEVABLE! My dog is 7 years old, we got her when she was 6 weeks old. My husband and I are 73 years old. My greatest fear for Sable is we both die and leave her. We’ve asked our children to to NEVER put her in a animal shelter and please take care of her until she dies. I pray to God Milo will find a PERMANENT loving forever home. 🙏🏻
I know exactly what you mean. I have worried about that for a long time. Because I know they wouldn't take my cat's. And the one I just lost, is the one my son would have taken. Hopefully him or my other son would take my pit. But I still have another that I don't think they would take. 💔😡
I don't know what to think ,but i feel so sad for Milo ! If i could i would adopt him ,but i live in the Netherlands . I hope he gets a golden for ever home ❤
I would take him in a heartbeat. May Madame Retribution make regular visits on the individuals who called themselves his family. I hope someone like me who loves seniors and recognises that they are such perfect dogs for those of us who are more mature and don’t/can’t do 10 mile hikes anymore.
@@UnderTheMilkyWay-mc8md UM, what’s much more dreadful is dumping your 12 YO loyal, loving dog & actually saying, “We don’t want him anymore.” Then joking & smiling while taking selfies w/him. 🤮 He’s overweight & severely matted under that fur. He was not w/caring ppl. I pray he gets the loving, forever home he so deserves. ♥🐾
I would doubt they were a loving family. No "loving family" would turn in a dog that is obviously a sweetheart and 12 years old. They should be turned in.
I went to my Humane League to adopt a senior dog (just like Milo) but the oldest they had were two 5y/o bonded Chihuahua's. So my family grew by 2. I hope this fella gets a great home. He deserves it!!
Aw, I got a brother and sister that were 8 and very bonded. They lived until 14 which was great because they both had health issues from being 3x their weight. They passed away within a month of one another... indeed, bonded! Enjoy your babies...❤❤
Sorry I missed the Live. Seniors are the sweetest! Milo looks like a bigger version of one of my dearly departed dogs. Grooming also doesn't have to be expensive; bathing and brushing were bonding sessions for us. As much as I hate to say this, there in SoCal some ppl (maybe cultural or language differences?) think shelters are where old or sick dogs go to die. It would be great if shelters could educate adopters that this is a commitment for the life of the pet, but I know they have a lot to do as it is. Some of us adopters, however, go for the older or overlooked ones especially b/c they need us more. IMHO, Milo may have much life left to live in these most rewarding Twilight Years.😢💕🐾🐶☮️
I only wish I was nearby. I’m sitting here weeping bc my dog had lymphoma and recently recently died and I need an adult dog. I’m a senior and Milo needs to be loved not abandoned. We would be perfect together. ❤
I hope he’s found a forever home. He’s so sweet and beautiful. Much hugs and kisses to this puppy. Breaks my heart that he was left in his later years. XO
How sad!😢 how can anyone turn a sweet old guy into the shelter? I had my Golden until he was 16 and he was the sweetest! They are the best in their golden years. If I lived closer I’d be there in a heartbeat, p,ease someone adopt this sweet baby!😢
Well, don’t just sit typing.... *GO GET HIM!!!* Isn’t Milo in CA? So many ppl say the same. Keyboard warriors.😂 I’m across the country & always adopt seniors. My last was 11. So too long a drive for me...I limit myself to a full day’s drive. _YOU GO GIRL!!!_ And let us know if you did. ;)
Senior dogs are the best. I have gone to shelters over the years and I look for the oldest dogs that deserve tons of love for the rest of their days. 🥰
I am Wanda and if I did not live in Georgia, I would adopt Milo into a forever home. I have had 5 pups to crossing the Rainbow Bridge (strays mostly, Granddogs, several cats, and 3 Scottish Terriers). Currently, I have not animal friends sharing space with my husband and I. I pray for Milo to be adopted soon. ❤❤🎉
He's beautiful poor little baby , so trusting after being rejected by the disgusting disgraceful individuals. Even if they were having major personal, financial issues or health problems there's absolutely no need to just turn him in that way ,After hearing what you said I honestly think it's because he's too old and they probably got bored with him Makes you wonder would they do that to older relatives.Makes me sick the way some people treat these amazing beautiful loyal dogs. It's not a Toy !! Is Yours the best Friend !! Really after 12 years You put Him away because he get older !! Shame of You !!
Around 0:57 sec mark, it appears he may have some injury near his right front shoulder or just above elbow, he even has his paw lifted up for a bit. And still so happy on top of it all like a total sweetheart. Hope someone looks into it in case it needs addressing. Thanks SO much for ALL you do!! ;-) Also around 12:27 mark
I saw that, too, and just now, it was smack in the middle of the frame for several seconds. I’m sure they will find it when he is groomed. I hope he finds a home with lots of love and attention. He is a beautiful dog. ❤
@@0150177 definitely a signal of stress/communication Dogs communicate with subtle signals like this one :) Licking their nose and yawning are too other that you can easily misinterpret
I have adopted seniors before. One notable memory was Oliver. he was 8 years old admittedly with some recurring medical issues but i adored him nonetheless. He lived to the ripe old age of 16 and every moment of every day he was a part of me and my family he wanted for nothing. His personality was much like Milo's ever happy with a comical personality tail wagging faster than the second finger on a clock. and the best part, his unique way of welcoming everyone who came into the house wanting all the fuss and attention from every visitor. It's been some years since he left us and his ashes are buried under our favourate plant. with a picture of the whole family That plant of course being forget me not. and we will never forget him. our hearts have his name forever etched My profile picture shows Oliver and Jake together. this helps me not to forget.the special bond they both had.
Milo looks an and acts well loved… There must be more to the story. In spite of him being a senior… I can’t imagine him not getting adopted super fast.🙏💖🕊
What a sweet boy! Thank you for showing him on the video, I'm sure it got him adopted. I adopted a senior boxer girl several years ago from a high kill shelter here in New Mexico. I think she may have been a breeding dog and they put her on the streets when they didn't need or want her anymore. She stole my heart; I totally fell in love with her. Unfortunately, she passed away a month after I adopted her. I don't regret adopting her, she passed away being loved. I'm so glad I adopted her and was able to love her. The funny thing is that she had my name, spelled the same as I do, Sonia. I renamed her, Sophie.
No matter how financially stressed we ever were, even with 3 children, and such hard times, we ALWAYS found a way to care for our precious pets. Milo is precious! I wish i was in CA! Id adopt him in a heartbeat!
Maybe they took care of what he eats. My dog still has white teeth, she doesn't get any sugar or bad stuff. And I know people who even brush their dogs teeths, but I guess in that case it might just be that it got the "right" food, nutrition's and chews. I've seen many dogs who are certainly loved by their owner, but they feed so bad stuff that their teeth don't look that good anymore despite their age. I mean, I might be wrong but back in the day I was told that this is mostly the reason for bad teeth.
@gweneth5958 Ummm, they cared enough to make certain he had clean teeth, but took him to the shelter because he was 12?? That and the "selfies" taken just before dumping him have me seething. 😣💕
@@violetfemme411 Yes, I know what you mean... taking selfies is... unexplainable to be. I would have been a crying mess if I had to give my dog away. My husband said "no, never, she is our baby, she will stay with us". Even on a divorce, we would probably want to keep her with each of us, like with a child. In the end this guy gave him away without his wife knowing to punish her... naaaah. I shouldn't think about the maybe but that this sweet fluffball gets a family who will stay with him until the very end. Our dog is part of the family, if she gets older, so do we and we will keep supporting each other and if we all have to walk very slowly in the end =D

It was better the owner gave Milo a second chance on life than neglected him or resented him bc he’s old!! Milo will now get adopted by wonderful senior dog lovers and spend the rest of his life in a loving home ❤❤❤
hope that owner doesnt have kids with that attitude....no animal is disposable and milo deserves much better..fingers crossed a loving home comes thru for this lovely boy
You know we don't know what the last 12 years for this person that adopted Milo we shouldn't be so quick to judge a person who shoes we have not walked in he did say the dog was well fed and the poor little fellow doesn't look abused maybe he knew this place was a good place that could find him a home I think he picked the perfect place to bring him to and the kindest sitting with dogs person how blessed Milo is to have an advocate as this man is Milo is going to have a home such a beautiful animal God bless you Milo❤
Milo is one of the cutest dogs I've ever seen❣I am sure he has no idea what's happening.... so happy and trusting. I'm sure someone will adopt him and they will both be blessed!
I love hearing your story. It warms my heart.
Wow that’s beautiful . She gives you life and you give her life..thank you for shearing your story..sending you and Mitzi lots of love🤎🐶🦴❤️💐

PUPDATE March 27th: MILO GOT ADOPTED!!! 🐶❤
Out of interest I checked his profile again today and during the last days it finally changed from "adoptable" to "pending" to "adopted"! ❤👏🐕🎉🎉🎉
Thank you to the update! So glad!!!
Oh yayyyyu! He is such a sweetheart!
So happy for him. He’s so sweet and adorable. Much love and life to him. I seriously don’t think I could abandon my dogs like that. They mean too much to me.
The owners should be flagged to never be allowed to have any other pets. This is so heartbreaking and disgusting to see an animal dumped.
Good idea, there should be a black list for owners who did owner turn ins … and only if you have an eviction notice you can stay off it.
@jsf221neither do you.
I'm sixty years old now, and I think in the future I will adopt dogs from the shelter, focusing especially on the older ones. (Cats, too!)
Yes, older cats need homes too. Often the owner dies and leaves a cat behind.
Awesome! Thanks. Senior dogs are so amazing
I have a friend who does that. She's had a series of about 4 senior dogs so far with somewhat special needs and she gives them a wonderful home and a happy "retirement."
My late Nona did this after her two yorkies passed. And let me tell you it makes a difference especially in the kill shelters ❤
I am 75 years young. Pups keep you young. We have a cat also.
The trophy dog got old
Then to use the poor old guy for social media likes, right before walking away from him forever! What a miserable human being.
My husband and I are adopting only senior rescues going forward.
Milo would fit with us perfectly. 😊
Contact Rocky! Maybe you can get something going and get him
yes plz adopt him!
Someone else said they were too. He looks amazing. Good luck and God bless.
Good for you! I only adopt seniors too.
He has many yrs in him yet!
Well said
What a cutie! If I weren’t so far away I’d take him home tomorrow.
I would never give my dog up because he was old and I have held all my dogs as they were being put to sleep and reminded them of all the love they gave me, then went to the car and bawled my eyes out.
I would love to have him also. My cat would love him as a buddy. I'm all the way in Ohio though unfortunately. I'll move to Cali so I can get him!
So from what you said they had him for 12 years!!!! I wish I was in your neck of the woods Id have him immediately, hes so very loving even though hes been abandoned. I love gou Milo ❤ I pray someone gives you the home you deserve.😊
I love senior dogs! What a betrayal for the poor guy.
Absolutely
Extreme betrayal in return for 12 years of loyal, unconditional love.
Maybe this was the best for the dog. You don't know the situation.

Not all cases are like this though. Sometimes its falling on hard times. But in this case it sad sounds like they gave up cuz of a family issue and they didn't want to but did anyways.
OLD DOGS do not belong in a shelter ever!!I rescued 2 15 year olds a year ago they are going strong
Wonderful! Give them big hugs from me please. We have a senior girl who is almost 12, I love her so much.
Mindset???
I bet they will take a new puppy, and when it will be old they abandon again. Hope shelter put them on the black list... 😢
There should be a database with names of pet owners who abandoned pets or abuse and never have pets again.
Good job! 👍
Needless to say, if that’s the case … I’m purely disgusted.
I will never understand how people can be so selfish, discarding animals like this. What a sweet boy.

Why do American females by the millions vote for a serial rapist as their leader? Total lack of empathy maybe?

The person is a dirtbag!!! How awful and sad! He's soooo cute and sweet!!!

Sorry. Sounds like puppy project 2025
I totally agree!
What’s worse is when they turn in their senior dog and adopt a new puppy and walk out the door. 😢
No man will ever come before my dogs ever.
Bless you. I am sorry for your loss.
You FIND the budget, doesn't matter how, but you find it SOMEHOW. They're a member of the family and it pains me to think that someone would turn their back on a family member that asks for very little in exchange for a lifetime of unconditional love 😢
Exactly. You wouldn't abandon your child. You'd find the money, time and resources to make it work.
They couldn't even brush him? Just Trash
I rescued a senior he was 12, now he's 15 and doing fine. I have 3 rescues, their my kids.

There is such a list. I remember putting people on it when I worked with animal rescue.
Cuz divorce forcing you to rent a place that doesn't allow dogs should put you on a "never" list? Hope life never hits you hard... cuz by your standards, you never should get a second chance. Smh. Thanks for spending time with Milo. He looks like he would make the best dog. Here's to help with his groom.
Thanks
Milo's story breaks my heart. It's the "selfies" that did it for me. How could you, he is the SWEETEST boy?!! I don't have any dogs (or pets) right now because 1) I can't afford to properly care for one (mainly medical) and 2) I'm not home enough so it wouldn't be fair. But mark my words.. when the day comes, I will go to my local shelter and ask to see their senior pets. There is no way I would ever leave with a puppy when senior dogs are calm, loving and ready to be your best friend for the rest of their days. ❤
Right! The selfies. SMH
I can’t understand why anyone would take their dog to a shelter just because they are a senior. What a gorgeous dog and shame on the owners who abandoned him.
How callous can humans be , 12 years as part of a family, then dumped.🤬
@joyceflowershed
Let's see.
And to cap it all, took a goodbye selfie. Blows my mind.
This is to go for Milo’s groom! My heart hurts for him! Wish I could take him 💔
I am excited to see Milo all cleaned up.
Dolores
That's awesome Dolores❤
Excelente trabajo 🙏👏🫶💖
I will adopt him now but I live in NC. I love senior dogs. I have 4 dogs currently and one is 14+. You don’t quit loving a dog because he is old. My 14 year old can no longer climb the stairs so I carry her up and down. It’s not a burden because I love her. I rescued her when she was 9 and she has been a joy!!
Bless you for your kindness towards defenseless creatures❤❤❤
Thank you for all the love you give to the fur babies! You rock!
My Reece is 13.5 and I could never give her up. Dogs get sweeter every year. Someone please adopt Milo.
Depends on the breed. Some get aggressive as they age because they don't know how to interpret the pain that comes to the aged. Imagine if you had arthritis pain constantly and were unable to get relief.😢 It sucks that they turned him in, but better than dumping him somewhere with no shelter food or water.
Milo, you are a fluffy sweet boy and you deserve a happy safe home for your golden years.😊
@@tomntammybrown3817 That's not this situation....
My 6lb Maltese is 16yrs old and there is no way I will abandon him...EVER!!! WE ARE TOGETHER TILL THE END.
Please let us see him after the grooming.
Mats HURT. The ones closest to the skin leave welts. Take your finger and twirl your hair tightly against your scalp until it hurts. That’s what a mat feels like.
Makes me sick they could just walk away from this sweet dog. He’s got lots of life left. He deserves a good home. Come on someone adopt Milo!
I'd hate to be in these people's shoes when payback visits them. God saw wht they did and He's NOT happy with them!
Put it in your will that ur dog gets the house n cash and the kids get the cash n house after the dog passes!!!
@@suzannemoffett358 Agreed!
OMG…that is heartbreaking! Selfies?! They should never adopt again!
I agree
I would take him in a heartbeat. May Madame Retribution make regular visits on the individuals who called themselves his family. I hope someone like me who loves seniors and recognises that they are such perfect dogs for those of us who are more mature and don’t/can’t do 10 mile hikes anymore.
All I take is seniors the past 25 yrs. They’re the best!♥🐾
Karma is real.
That’s a dreadful comment you made. You don’t know the circumstances.
@@UnderTheMilkyWay-mc8md UM, what’s much more dreadful is dumping your 12 YO loyal, loving dog & actually saying, “We don’t want him anymore.” Then joking & smiling while taking selfies w/him. 🤮
He’s overweight & severely matted under that fur. He was not w/caring ppl.
I pray he gets the loving, forever home he so deserves. ♥🐾
@@sonneversets3530
You sound bitter.
I would doubt they were a loving family. No "loving family" would turn in a dog that is obviously a sweetheart and 12 years old. They should be turned in.
They should be in jail for doing this to this beautiful 🐕🤬
Cruel turn of events for a perfectly nice dog! Those folks did not deserve him .
Praying for Milo, someone will give him love he deserves ❤
Beautiful boy !!
IMHO, Milo may have much life left to live in these most rewarding Twilight Years.😢💕🐾🐶☮️
Rocky introduced us to FROSTED FACES in Ramona and they do that‼️‼️‼️Check 'em💁🏼♀️🐕
He’s so trusting it’s heartbreaking. I hope he finds a good home with people who will appreciate him. Please keep us posted!
He probably just thinks his owner is boarding him. Might be used to it and so he's happy for now
This poor guy. How can anybody give up their fur child ? If I lived closer, I’d adopt him. He deserves love. ❤️
Milo is a Wonderful dog. Looks like a sore on one of his legs. Love him. Evelyn from Texas.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He is very handsome. I love senior dogs. I rescued my dog from a California shelter years ago,and she is 13 now. Have a great day my friend ❤️🙂⚘️.
XO
I just picked my 18 year old dog up and put him on the couch with me ! Seeing Milo makes me have to hug and kiss my old dog ! I love him so much ! ❤
Senior dogs are best companion ❤ he looks young and great energy
How sad!😢 how can anyone turn a sweet old guy into the shelter? I had my Golden until he was 16 and he was the sweetest! They are the best in their golden years. If I lived closer I’d be there in a heartbeat, p,ease someone adopt this sweet baby!😢
Unbelievable. He is such a sweet boy!
I wish I could adopt him. He's adorable. My 85 year old mom would love him. So sad the owners would give him up. He doesn't deserve that.
I am so in love with Milo.
I live in Northern California and would love to adopt this sweet boy♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

IF you're serious contact this website.
Well, don’t just sit typing.... *GO GET HIM!!!*
Isn’t Milo in CA?
So many ppl say the same. Keyboard warriors.😂
I’m across the country & always adopt seniors. My last was 11.
So too long a drive for me...I limit myself to a full day’s drive.
_YOU GO GIRL!!!_
And let us know if you did.
He's absolutely beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I pray someone will take him, he'd make a perfect friend for an active elder person.
Milo's parents aren't responsible pet parents. Hard to believe people can be so cruel to abandon him. Sending Milo lots of love.❤
I agree… still better than leaving him on the side of the road though (worse silver lining ever tbh)
I can't believe how some people can do this ! Broke my ❤️ Dog love You unconditionally for the rest of Yours live !!. They are the best friend . How You can do this ?!! Is not a shoes to put away it's Your part of Familly! One day You will understand because You will get older to ... maybe somebody from Yours family will do the same for You if You ghat older!! It's not a Toy !! Is Yours the best Friend !! Really after 12 years You put Him away because he get older !!
Shame of You !!
Disgusting that they could do such a thing! The poor sweet boy I pray he finds a wonderful home. Love to Milo
@tonie5217
You care enough to pray. Then adopt him ..... smh
@@williampotter2098 well that's rude. You don't know this person's situation...smh
@@CynVee It's such wonderful virtue signalling to publicly brag about praying for things but God helps those who help themselves.
Taking selfies? What a truly sick cruel person.
I hope that scumbag reads these comments and realizes what a true a**hole he is.
The paw lift might just be a little signal of stress. Dogs commonly do that.
I saw that mark. Sometimes they get raw if they hang on deck a lot
I noticed that too.
I saw that, too, and just now, it was smack in the middle of the frame for several seconds. I’m sure they will find it when he is groomed. I hope he finds a home with lots of love and attention. He is a beautiful dog. ❤
@@0150177 definitely a signal of stress/communication
Dogs communicate with subtle signals like this one :)
Licking their nose and yawning are too other that you can easily misinterpret
Great pic!
I always get seniors now.
Well past the puppy stage...No thanks w/the potty training, teething, etc. Done!😂
Milo looks an and acts well loved… There must be more to the story.
In spite of him being a senior… I can’t imagine him not getting adopted super fast.🙏💖🕊
I wonder if his owner passed and other family refused to assume his care.
@@marilynbridges8697 then they would have said that's why.
His teeth look very clean for a senior 💜
I noticed that too!
@@gweneth5958 My niece is divorced and ever since they have split up, she and her ex husband have been "sharing" their now elderly rescue dog which works out great for everybody 💕💕🐶
It was better the owner gave Milo a second chance on life than neglected him or resented him bc he’s old!! Milo will now get adopted by wonderful senior dog lovers and spend the rest of his life in a loving home ❤❤❤
He certainly didn't need to be talked into taking treats_He's wonderful❣️
Thanks! for Milo.
Thanks
What a beautiful boy Milo.
Just saved a shelter dog, Tony… he became nervous watching ur video w me 😢 sounds…
He’s 1/2 Great Dane and retriever- big boy 😊
It's so disgusting how people would abandon a senior dog whom has lived his whole life with his family. These people shouldn't ever have had pets.
hope that owner doesnt have kids with that attitude....no animal is disposable and milo deserves much better..fingers crossed a loving home comes thru for this lovely boy
Sandy on the other hand if he does have kids maybe they will dump him when he gets to old, what goes round comes around
