I am a Wings fan and I would love to see him re-sign in Detroit. If money and term are what Kane is after, it's likely he will get a better deal going back to New York. If he is looking to position himself in a better opportunity to win his fourth cup, again, New York makes more sense. If Patrick Kane realizes that Detroit took a chance on him, and his bet on himself following a hip resurfacing procedure which no one at the time had effectively come back from, while New York allowed him to leave - then Detroit holds an edge. If Kane embraces Detroit the way that the fans, including myself, embraced the one-time Blackhawk enemy and his role in being a leader of an up and coming team... again, he signs in Detroit. Realistically though, Wings fans have to consider what kind of money and term Kane would want as looking forward over the next couple of seasons, there are some forwards the Red Wings will need to find room for in Detroit. It becomes an issue when you are paying someone multiple years at a comparably high AAV to bump down a line up or ultimately be scratched. Holl is making far too much money not to be played, however his play on the ice made him easy to bypass. Now the Wings will have to get really creative to move him, and likely gobble up a chunk of that money, if not all of it by buying him out. Holl is not comparable to Kane, but the money potential is, and likely more. Its a tightrope Detroit will be walking to re-sign Kane unless Detroit is where he wants to be.
