He is the nicest guy in the world, and absolutely beautiful but one morning I woke up and felt the 'ick'. For literally no reason at all i'd fallen out of lust with him. You don't get a gold star for doing something you should already be doing. It's not her fault people treat others like shit. It's like saying "don't leave your job because you earn money, good luck finding another job where you earn money". Like yeah it's expected to earn money from a job just as it's expected to be treated right in a relationship. Well for me this is the best comment I've read in weeks. Last year my boyfriend broke up with me after 4 years of being together (and a dog, and living together for 3.5 years) because he didn't love me anymore. He didn't want to talk about it or work on it or go to therapy or anything. After two months he wanted to get back together and said it was all a mistake etcetera. I took him back and then last month he broke up with me again. He didn't love me anymore, wasn't in love with me in anymore but in love with someone else. I told him he never fought for anything. When things get hard, or feelings get difficult he just gives up. He agreed. And that was it. My parents have gone through so much together and my mother has often said they might get a divorce but they never did, they worked on it. I thought I had that too, I would have done anything for him, even though maybe he wasn't the best thing for me (in hindsight you know). Two weeks before he left he talked with my mother and cried, said he wanted to marry me and that he loved me so much and would never hurt me like that again. I totally lost all faith in true love and commitment in that way.

You need to learn that someone in the relationship will eventually fall out of love. This may be for many different reasons. It usually happens if both of you get too comfortable with each other and stop being spontaneous. This will make you feel bored. You will get that feeling of wanting something new or just having time to stay single. That same spark that you felt during the peak of your relationship will NOT STAY LIT FOREVER. Understand that relationships require work from both partners. Both partners must want to make the effort to be together. You have to find a new spark by doing things differently. Be spontaneous with your relationship. That is what makes it interesting and fun. It will help you remember why you fell in love with him in the first place. But because you seem certain about your decision, there must be more to your decision than just "falling out of love." Love is hard. Love hurts. But most importantly love requires work. You should always put your happiness before anyone else. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Be true to yourself before you can be true to anyone else.

I see all these people posting about if he treated her so well why did she fall out of love and that she was selfish but honestly it seems to me that you have never come close to experiencing a situation like hers. It's hard knowing that you have the perfect guy but not perfect for you and realizing that what's wrong is you and not them.

My boyfriend broke up with me for the same reason that you broke up with John. It hurt so much because he is my soulmate and he was the best thing I ever had, and it took me so long to let him in and fully give him my heart, and it seemed like as soon as I was head over heels in love with him he fell out. He told me that he didn't see a future with me but that he still wanted to be friends. I tried to hold it together and tried to be his friend but it just hurt so much and seeing his life go on with out me was something I couldn't do. I blocked all of his social media and only kept his number under the first letter of his name so that I'm not reminded of him. He was pretty upset with me blocking him, but at the same time I was pretty upset that he broke up with me lol so I just told him I had to do it. Sometimes when he contacts me I can't reply because I can feel myself falling back into a cycle of hurt, and I'm just starting to move past it. He did what's best for him, and I'm doing what's best for me, and that's the best I can do right now. Shani, I can't thank you enough for posting this video.I am going through a TERRIBLE breakup right now. I thought he was the one for so long until I realized I had totally lost myself. I was so blinded by all the good things he did for me, I overlooked the fact that he was extremely controlling. It was so unhealthy and it led me into terrible anxiety and panic attacks. Two weeks ago I found the strength to break things off and it has been hell ever since. You know I also went through a period of guys treating me like shit and I was in such a bad place. I'm glad you and john dated, I've been watching from the start and seeing how happy he made you, made me happy. I'm glad I got to see an example how a guy SHOULD treat you. I remember watching someone of your vlogs or snapchat story and seeing how you treat eachother, I remember telling my self that I want to find a relationship like that not anything less. This relationship changed me and certainly changed you and john, great example of why everything happeneds for a reason!
Not all relationships are meant to be forever - we have best friends that we had in school that we don't talk to anymore but they were wonderful while they lasted and no regrets! Boyfriends are the same...it was perfect when the relationship was there, but then it's also okay when things change ❤️

Hey Shani, please look up relationship OCD, I have this as well as many other people but something that goes under the radar because many people think they just "fall out of love" ROCD has ruined my life for years, any relationship that I've had for the past 4 years has been ruined by ROCD, I can be fully in love and then in one second it will just go, although I know I love my boyfriend deep down, I always worry/get anxious that I don't and after a while makes me feel unhappy, but I know that whenever I break up a relationship for this reason it happens again in my next relationship exactly the same. There's info on the internet for this and getting therapy helps, although this may not be your case I thought it might help

I'm still young and have a lot to experience so this will help me to realize I will get in situations like this almost everyone does. But stay strong girl.
