I was at the cinema for the premiere of this classic in '06 and to think it's been almost 20 years since its premiere! the movie touched me, Brandon reminded me a lot of Chris. I think he is his worthy successor, but unfortunately very underrated...
This suit feels like it lacked a clear direction and vision.
If there was a superhero movie with generic suit design, it would be Superman Returns.
I will always love this suit, it has its flaws but Brandon in that suit was the first time I ever saw superman, so it’s special to me, I wish Brandon had more movies, he’ll always be superman to me but I’m glad he got to reprise his role in the arrowverse

The shoes having the Superman symbols at the bottom are soooo unnecessary, along with the belt having his S chest. That and the muted red and yellow look bad with the bright blue, I’m surprised Bryan Singer didn’t have Superman wear a black leather suit like he did with the X-Men.
Unnecessary? Maybe. But it still looks cool.

I love this suit so much.
I appreciate all their hard work… but this suit wasn’t amazing. The collar was very high and tight around the base of the neck, the red was maroon-ish brown, the logo was tiny and thick, and worst of all… it hid 99% of Brandon Routh’s hard work at the gym. Dude bulked up like crazy, but you couldn’t tell very well while he was in costume.
If this costume is for sale, I'm interested, out of respect for Brandon Routh. I'm only 2 inches taller so that should fit.
I did like how the suit looked like the suit from the first two Superman movies, which they were obviously going for. But I’m sorry, the S on the Superman belt completely threw me off. That’s like Batman having a bat symbol on his utility belt. How am I not supposed to laugh at that every time I see it? 😅
There's nothing laughable about it.
But Batman does have a batsymbol on his belt in some versions. Is it really any different from having the S on the chest or the back of the cape? Why does it only become laughable when its a belt buckle?

Supermans suit isn’t from another planet. His costume is something his adoptive mother made for him out of his baby blanket and lining from his space pod. The whole “Supermans suit is Kryptonian chainmail” is just something Zack Snyder added for his Superman. It was never that way in the comics before that, and even in the comics it only lasted during the early part of the New 52. His suit is made on earth.

The script was mediocre but Superman Returns was also hampered by ugly cinematography. It was the early days of digital cameras and it made the film look extremely murky.
The film looked much better in the teaser trailer, the grading in post didn’t do the visuals justice
I dont like Superman Suit or Batman Suit before., because They have a Underwear Outside in the Suit 😂😅
After watching MoS I can't look at this design the same anymore. I mean, it was dated even then, but man.... Yikes.
True but the MOS/BVS suit isn’t very good either tbh. We haven’t had a good 21st century movie Superman suit yet.
@@DerrickVanderspooni disagree. Absolutely LOVED MoS suit, when movie was announced. BvS version had an unnecessary update and worsened some of the best MoS suit decisions.
I'm sure a lot of people love it but I think this suit is awful. Probably my least favorite of the live action superman suits. The red is almost brown. A leather cape? The skimpy speedo shorts. Why does the belt have an S on it when he has an S on his chest? It's redundant. And yes, the emblem on his chest is way too small and I don't like it's a hard plastic. It looks like a 3D printed logo. It just didn't work for me.

It's most people's least favourite suit. The S is too small, boots are too short, red is too brown, neck is too high.
As a kid i forced myself to like the suit cuz i was such a huge superman movie fan. But when i spotted that the boots alone had like 6 emblems on each, that's when u know the costumer had no idea what the fuck she was doin at all.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
