    I think you should point out that you need a Microsoft/Xbox live account for Gears Tactics, very annoying and wasted my time buying it now have to refund.

      @@GridCommand give ir a whirl. I have no association with them, except as a costumer, but I really got impressed with them.
      The game is good, I still feel the skill tree is a bit confusing, but is even hard to suggest something when I don´t have a full picture of the whole things they want for the game roles - BUT the roles there are in the game, are all useful and well defined...
      And enemy IA could be better, but that is really, largely a problem with ALL turn based games or ALL games, really, in strategy games, they mitigate with the IA "stealing" by having bonus resources, etc, we all know that, but in tactical, how you do that? Only by moving and reacting in smart ways, but as a pre-programmed thing, we eventually understand the patterns, and is a truth we see from Laser Squad to present games. The only IA disasters I can think remember, are really non-reactive IAs or "running into a wall" IA, like what happened a few times in Necromunda (and it still is VERY fun to play, because sometimes the IA just WORKS). So, in their case, I just think the IA could be a bit more aggressive, and the system of reinforcements they build, is a good way to keep it challenging anyway.
      But what, IMHO, makes them stand out more than others, really, is how responsive to feedback they are and how the game improves CONSTANTLY. Is just on another level of DEVELOPER AWESOMENESS. I really appreciate their drive and passion for their projects. Even if I don´t play the game that much, I keep it installed and keep checking the updates. Is pretty amazing to see how they progress.

    Battle Brothers is 50% off.
    Hands down the best turnbased tactics game I ever played. And I played a frickin lot haha
    Just don't get fooled by those many pseudo reviews using stock footage. There it looks like you are running around in rags forever. Of course you are not. It actually is a hunt for rare and unique items. A bit like Diablo. Very rewarding.
    Also don't get fooled by the moans about wild RNG. That's mostly a skill issue.

    • @GridCommand
      @GridCommand  3 дні тому

      I've heard a ton of good things about it but have never played it personally. The item thing is something I'd never heard before - maybe now is the time 🤔

    • @duedman-alleswasknallt5775
      @duedman-alleswasknallt5775 3 дні тому

      @@GridCommand Yeah most "reviews" show stuff from the first hour of the game. Probably bc ppl quit after that. The seemingly crazy RNG comes down to a few simple mechanics (that are not explained by the "tutorial" unfortunately). Hit chances increase with every other brother adjacent to the enemy by 5% each.
      And: Swords give +10% to hit. Spears give +20% to hit. Both are not very good against armor but the surefire way to reliably dispatch early game trashmobs.
      Suddenly RNG becomes very easy to manage an the journy to create your band of uber brothers begins

    Showgunners is one of my favorite TTRPGs from recent years. It's not a super long game but it's streamlined and polished. The puzzles didn't blow my mind but it at all coalesced into a really positive experience. Recommend.
    I was stoked for Wildermyth but the proceduralness just lead me to having no connection to anything. I was bummed.
    Oh yeah, the title of your last chapter isn't the same as the game you're talking about. Thought I'd mention :)

    • @GridCommand

      I was really surprised at how well put together showgunners was! I've had other people express the same feelings about Wildermyth though.
      That last game has a super long name, IIRC the full name is Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters

    • @jonsible
      @jonsible 5 днів тому

      @@GridCommand a video attempting to differentiate between all the various 40k Tactical RPGs would be 8 hours but a lot of fun!
      Part of what worked about showgunners was the lack of variety and limited squad size. There was only one build for each character, your "build" for the mission was decided by the side characters you decided to bring. Only the protagonist can directly manipulate the action economy, and every other character is about doing something she doesn't do. Keeps balance in check, makes grinding mostly irrelevant, and ensures team cohesion.

    • @GridCommand
      @GridCommand  5 днів тому +1

      @jonsible Add in all the DLC for all those 40k games and you have another 8 hours 😆
      That's a good breakdown of Showgunners - I hadn't considered how well it is actually designed around the main character and balanced to make the experience streamlined.
