there is value on how to improve your best games too. Sometime you just lose because the other team just works better and all you can say is try to communicate to your team. But some teams are split with groups and don't share a voice chat then refuse to join team chat. But in a winning game you could be giving more value and when you are in the next game where you can win having been in coached before you can secure to make it a certain win. But for climbing it nicer to have been coach to minimize losses.

You can improve on winning games, but games like these are mostly just lucky games. And it's harder to give criticism on. A losing game at least you have shown a game you have tired you best with. But where you went wrong will be more noticeable.

Kochipo Draws there’s no single hero or hero type that dictates a fight. What is a tank gonna do without a healer? What’s a healer gonna do without anyone peeling for them? A dps has the potential to dictate a fight by popping off but could just as easily lose the fight by overextending and creating a 5v6 in the enemy’s favor.

As a DPS player, this feeling is all too common and very frustrating. I've killed 4 people in a fight a ton of times, then pushed forward as you do, then died as my teammates just stayed back. I spawn back in, teammates still haven't moved just allowing the other team to spawn in. Like WTF

I’m always tempted to just leave games whenever there’s a Widow main on my team, especially if they’re squad up with a Mercy. But y’know, can’t leave because of Comp rules so I’m just forced to bare through it and hope that they’re good enough. Half the time they just get jumped by Winston the entire game and do nothing.

I don't play pro league because I would embarrass their poor souls. I have the best gaming chair in the world allowing me to hit insane shots and destroying any unworthy trash player that comes in my path. My name alone sets fear into others making them leave the game before it even starts. People fear me. I am a God. People who are graced with my presence on their team count it as a blessing; a once in a lifetime experience. I can 1v6 any pro team that you put in front of me. If you ever come across me in a game, leave. I wouldn't want you to see the carnage that ensues and I am sorry for anyone that has. People suffer from PTSD after playing against me, anytime they see my name they start shaking and fall out of their chair. @@gnaikaplays Same with not killing the Junkrat tyre. They didn't even think to do it because why would they save the rest of the team when there's an easy pick right there? They got lucky that Brig ate it, but in another game they might not be so lucky and then they lose that team fight and possibly don't even cap second point if the other team snowballs. Their team picked up the slack so many times which allowed them to get picks and a lot of those were due to the other team having typical gold rank bad positioning anyway.

I think biggest tip for ranking is also and I get the feeling this is not highlighted enough is to help each other out, for example I play ana and there is a low health genji with me. I can choose 2 things kill the enemy who is attacking me or heal the genji who can kill it and trust my teammate. I rather don't ignore the genji quickly heal him and give him a better chance of helping me without him dying. sure supports should not entirely rely on their teammates and should fend for themselves but it is the attitude to help each other. in lower ranks that just does not happen. for example my friend he's playing rein and bob is in front, instead of keeping his shield up and trusting his teammates will deal with it he swings his hammer and everyone in the back died or got low health. also random banter while I'm at it alot of players see pro players and think they are one tricks and never played other roles but these guys can play all hero's very well but are specialized. don't be great at one hero and suck on others, be good on all and little better on one. you will also notice and learn from different roles like I always play tank I learned to think of my teammates how to protect them. If I play dps I can't take space and be aggressive my tanks have to do that. playing support helped me notice my surroundings more etc.
Egh what if you're playing Mercy tho? I mean her pistol does some nice damage but the aim on it is about as luck based as Hanzo's arrows, if not more skillbased since the projectiles move slower. With a weapon like that your entire plan is relying on them to walk into your bullets and not dodge your bullets. Like Ana shooting without scoping, it's unreliable. Sure Ana can defend herself way better than Mercy, if not sleeping the enemy you can anti them and scare them enough to make them back off, IF you have a good aim that frightens them that is, otherwise any good DPS can shaft you much faster than you can shaft them.
This guy doesn’t have too poor of mechanical skill. He makes shots in the beginning but I feel like they’re fueled by adrenaline. An important part of widowmaker is having cold blood. If you only make plays while heightened by adrenaline you can’t and won’t make those shots in a more calm situation. Work I’m playing consistently without letting adrenaline affect you.
Great advice. I only have about 10 hours total on widow, and i find if i can manage to get a pick or two at the beginning of the game, i perform significantly better throughout the rest. Its so fun, i wish i could play her more.
I'm actually the opposite, most of the time. It depends on the map, team, and day (my consistency with widow is very bad) but yeah, usually I do best when calm. I do run on adrenaline more with Ashe, though. I'm WAY more consistent with Ashe. It's weird how much it can change with each character.

Yeah true, their team is putting a lot of pressure on which makes up for their bad positioning. I doubt they pop off like this in most games, sure they might get some picks but they probably also die a lot more often.
Everyone's saying "They only submitted their best game." First of all, this game was awful anyway. Their aim was fairly good the first round, then it went downhill. Their game sense was horrific, and their positioning. If this was their best game then they should be lucky that they're in gold and not Bronze
I am high plat, let me tell you, this guy would die way moreoften than in this clip. When he`ll have 5 deaths and 20-30 critical hits, then he can say he is in the wrong elo. I know he had 30+ elims, but elimination isn`t kill in overwatch.
I would love to send him my rein games since that is the main character I play and he can see I earn sometimes more kills then my dps players now that I've dropped so low to bronze now

I think you really overestimate his mechanics, because he had a bunch of clean shots. On the other hand he did miss 4-5 relatively easy shots in a row, so yeah it really comes down to consistency. There are many people in gold with 'brilliancy' in their mechanics, in fact most of gold players playing champs like widow have good mechanics, they are just shit in every other aspect like this guy :D People with poor mechanics will just play stuff like junkrat/pharah or play tank/heal.
Most scrims don't even use Ashe right now. I've scrimmed every week with my team since she was released but every other team we scrim against won't allow us to use Ashe until she gets put in comp

My first response to this was yeah, this person sent in the best game they've ever had. HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt this is how they play normally, or else they'd rank. However you can clearly see the goldie in them the longer the video continues......however I still say this is probably one of their better games........so, to the person who sent this is, and others who are thinking about doing the same thing, the best thing you can do if you want to rank - is to be honest with someone willing to coach you. Don't BS by sending in one of your best game, send in your average gameplay. The best thing that ever happened to me was to get a higher up top 500 player to spectate my normal games and give advice to help me with my fuck-ups...........picking through 100 games and sending in your best one, might make your ego feel good for a second when you watch the coach go "oh wow you're good", but it won't help you rank since you're not being honest about your general/average gameplay.
I'm in mid diamond and to say this kid wants to place himself in the rank just below myself is a bit astonishing. If you can hit shots then that is alright. However, if you have no game sense what so ever then you will never climb sr.
Pretty obvious why their still in gold, positioning and game sense is poor. Also players who send in their best game in which they pop off at certain points and the game not being fully representative of their skill or rank is annoying. I hope submission changes can be done for Overanalyzed for the future.
When people say "i should be plat but im only Gold" i think they are saying that because they have Good aim, As if aim is the only thing that matters in overwatch
Is this a mirror match or something? On the first defence the widow destroyed the other widow for the entire round, and then on the first defence, they were the ones who got completely destroyed the same ways they killed the other one the first round.

Chris Benn that’s what I hate about seemingly every widow review I ever see on UA-cam. You see people standing in terrible positions but getting ok shots because they are being ignored, “OMG great positioning widow you are destroying them your aim is master/GM not gold omg OMG omg” analyse it properly not based on whether they hit shots, that’s a big part for her but there’s so many aspects to being able to hit shots, and yet as long as they are getting a couple good shots on “easier” to hit targets then the reviewer ignores crappy positioning and clearly terrible game sense. But don’t listen to me, I’m just a filthy plat
@@tdmc6428 You're right and this is the problem with people sending in their best games instead of the games where they didn't perform. If this widow wants to get into plat then surely the most relevant games to see would be the ones that they play at high gold and end up losing i.e. the games that are stopping them getting to the rank they think that they deserve. That's where we would see them get wrecked because of their bad positioning and game sense, though even in this game it's obvious what their problems are.
@TDMC Yes! That and also "what the enemy lets you do"! All the heros in Overwatch is good if "you" can just do whatever you want and you do not get pressured at all! The DPS is just the onces everyone can see becrouse they get displayed in the kill feed! If a main healer gets the same game as this widow got in the video, that healer can just standstill and heal everyone all the time! But they do not get in the kill feed... :-D
@Josh Young Not really. The widow we follow in the video is really bad! His aim is only "ok" on "attack" where there is no pressure on him and he can stand still and only think about his shot! On defence where the team do not do so well, his aim is trash! Evan Sty says it! "...Mis...Mis...Mis...Mis...Mis..." Everytime the widow gets just a little pressure on him! "Good Aim" is not that you can hit your shots when everything is in your favour! "Good aim" is that you can hit shots when everything is NOT in your favour! So the video, the widow player sent was perfect! :) It shows what needs to be shown! The problem with this whole setup so many UA-camrs are running is that they ask for videos of you playing a hero and "coach" that! But as many of them say, that is a bad player from the start! If you stay on the same hero all game you are bad! Especially if you are losing the game! Overwatch is designed for its players to switch heroes a lot! The map changes, the other team's comp changes... So many reasons! Sty has also said this! So There are many things that make this form of videos mostly entertainment more than anything else! It would be real "coaching" if it was about how the player plays a comp game and not about how the player plays one hero! :-)

Have you realize that in the start of the first round widow was on the ledge damage boosted and widow misses first shot. To then get res. The start of the second round the exact same thing happened...

@@ignificus when you should realize it's easier to hit on console because it's casual. Game sense on console is like one rank below. A diamond console player is a plat pc player unless the they have previous mechanical FPS experience on PC.

This widow should be gold for one main reason: she's oblivious to her team losing and provides NOTHING mid fight. Before and after, loads, during when it matters, none. I'm a silver flex though I can play widow, and if I don't get a kill DURING the fight, I switch. Simple. You need to get at least 2 kills to justify picking widow. This widow does that once or twice then just feeds. Classic low widow. "I popped therefore I'm good!" No. Id rather have a widow that consistently gets 1 kill a fight than one that gets 4 when it doesn't matter.
Bye I don’t disagree with your points on the widow themself, but I need someone to explain the me the logic the behind, you pick widow, you gotta clear out a third of the team by yourself otherwise you are useless, why is it only widow? Why is it a widow has to be carrying to be justified and yet a mcree or soldier or pretty much any other dps is fine waddling around poking and feeding ult charge to the healers. I’m not saying that she should be allowed to do that, nobody should do that, but why is it everyone focuses on whether the widow does it and not the rest of the team. When you have a widow everybody else has a free pass to suck, because the second she starts missing a couple shots she’s the reason you lose, even if say you spend a whole game on say Hollywood, headshot 3 people including the supports and help clear the tanks with a couple body shots and headshots, then you get the payload and jsut pick them apart by taking out the heads of every squishy you come across and taking angles to avoid having to fight the shield tanks without your team since the healers are higher priority, you push to second point and keep doing t but now you reach the final stretch, you’ve been clearly carrying all game but now you miss a couple shots while also dealing with hanzo, doomfist, genji and widow all hyper focusing you in a more compact space, a lot harder to land those picks and suddenly you realise, your team is doing nothing without you, they were sitting back until you got 2 of the 5 picks in the first teamfight. Suddenly you are the one at fault, you swap for the final bit since you aren’t gonna so much now but what is this I see? My team is now refusing to push without all your instant picks that allowed you to steamroll up to this point. But no it’s the person who played widows fault ignoring how the hanzo and doomfist didn’t get a single pick themselves.
TDMC good question let me explain. Widow is a character that’s value is defined purely based on getting picks to end fights quick and making enemy sight lines hell. The problem is, with widow being such a high skill cap and such a “hard” hero(in lower Elos) a widow is either doing great or doing nothing. The pick potential of an average widow along side the hitscan can be found in “easier heroes” such as cree or soldier. On the other hand, an effective widow can dominate games at even a T500 level which is why she is such a hit or miss hero. If she’s doing nothing, she makes the fight a 5v6 thus providing her team a major disadvantage. Hope that cleared things up!
Shyam Ganesh I appreciate your point, but I think wasn’t clear enough when I said I start hitting less shots. I mean I’m still hitting shots it’s just I’m getting a couple less of those instant kill headshots that allowed me to steamroll, I still do plenty and I take chunks out of peoples health during the entire fight which yes does mean I’m not being as good as I was earlier in the match (which from my description of that game up to last point I think we can both agree was carrying) but I’m certainly not doing nothing, and from a lot of my experience even when I have those windows of not doing my best, I’m still doing far more than the other dps, and the lack of instant kill picks means my team is afraid to do anything other than stand in the choke waiting for the enemy to build their ultimates. I’m aware my consistency does need to improve such that those windows are rare or negligible but that does not mean that I’m useless during those times and the entire match depends on whether I hard carry or just play well. It is a team game after, it’s ridiculous that I’m required to do all the work, especially so on that one specific character
@@tdmc6428 I'm not saying you have to carry but in a team fight, say an objective capture, your in the backline which means your team is down a person. You MUST get a kill so then the match is even and anything after that is value. If you have a widow and she gets 4 kills at the end of a fight when they have clearly lost, that's fine, you stagger them and that huge value but I'd rather you get 2 every fight so then we're not down a player every fight and a cleanup patrol.

As much as I think that most of the advice here was solid and useful; I feel like there was one piece of advice for the Widow player that doesn't hold up, that would be the advice to go to the high ground, right about: 20:02. As a Widow player (a somewhat low tier one but I'm working to get better), I would have willingly sacrificed vision to not take such an unnecessary risk to go into the line of fire like in front of the Soldier 76 player. Widow would be turned into Mince'd meat if the player went there like that, so I think they made the good call of NOT going to that vantage point. I know this considering my experience in both comp and quickplay that shows the Saloon high ground is a somewhat vulnerable spot for some Widow players and not exactly ideal for me. The trenches between the rocksides were a much more acceptable and safe locale for me.
There is one thing I would say about not wanting a Mercy damage boost. In this situation it wouldn't apply based on the bad positioning at the beginning of the round. Sometimes, you're in cheeky spots and you don't want to be seen. The Mercy boost can giveaway your position at times cuz it's very noticeable as you glow blue. I actually don't really like the boost in a Widow duel for that reason alone.
@@fossilizedamber yes, but very rarely... if they're playing enough games in a season to lower variance... people end up at the SR they're suppose to be. Every time a low SR player has ever complained about their SR and how teammates are the reason they're hard stuck... and you review their game footage, it always shows that it's them that's the problem.

Welp Im a tank main, usually I end up getting the gold kills even if I dont try, the games with 3 dps or 2 that dont do anything ruin any effort you put into the match
I was stuck in silver for the longest time bc I played comp when I was pretty terrible when Brigette got into comp. next season I got placed silver and didn’t play after placements, next I placed gold, slowly ranking up bc of placement. Then easily climbed my way up to plat and then got lazy. Plat is honestly just as easy as QP for my so I think I’ll be able to climb to low diamond or at least high plat. Not sure tho lol I keep quitting the game cuz of all the constant toxic people, enemy team and my own team. It literally makes me quit competitive and I still haven’t played this season. Bc of toxic ppl. Constantly messaging me I’m bad at every character I play, saying in team chat that they can’t tell if I’m a girl or guy then proceeding to make fun of my voice. Many more things but like, it’s so much every single time I play comp. it makes me not want to climb and kinda chill in plat bc the higher I get the more toxic ppl I’ll get, especially if I talk in team chat. I’m pretty aggressive to I take up for myself but it completely ruins my mood and makes me hate overwatch even more even tho I really love the game
That voice part is the most annoying. I haven't even tried using voice in OW after my experiences in csgo. As a shy and insecure girl i hate when people start freaking out about my voice. I have been harrased few times too. Like people start following me to everywhere, block my vision when they walk right in front of my screen and saying stuff on voice or pm. I usually try to play with others or with my bf because of it. But i mostly play OW alone. God i hate those people

As an entry fragger, you have to communicate with your team to engage on your picks. It doesn't matter if you get a kill if your team just sits around and waits for them to respawn for a fair match.
The problem I have is when you upper cut and primary fire you cannot escape because by time you primary fire your on the ground and cant punch out well enough cuz ur vulnerable

there is value on how to improve your best games too. Sometime you just lose because the other team just works better and all you can say is try to communicate to your team. But some teams are split with groups and don't share a voice chat then refuse to join team chat. But in a winning game you could be giving more value and when you are in the next game where you can win having been in coached before you can secure to make it a certain win. But for climbing it nicer to have been coach to minimize losses.

You can improve on winning games, but games like these are mostly just lucky games. And it's harder to give criticism on. A losing game at least you have shown a game you have tired you best with. But where you went wrong will be more noticeable.

Kochipo Draws there’s no single hero or hero type that dictates a fight. What is a tank gonna do without a healer? What’s a healer gonna do without anyone peeling for them? A dps has the potential to dictate a fight by popping off but could just as easily lose the fight by overextending and creating a 5v6 in the enemy’s favor.

As a DPS player, this feeling is all too common and very frustrating. I've killed 4 people in a fight a ton of times, then pushed forward as you do, then died as my teammates just stayed back. I spawn back in, teammates still haven't moved just allowing the other team to spawn in. Like WTF

@@gnaikaplays Same with not killing the Junkrat tyre. They didn't even think to do it because why would they save the rest of the team when there's an easy pick right there? They got lucky that Brig ate it, but in another game they might not be so lucky and then they lose that team fight and possibly don't even cap second point if the other team snowballs. Their team picked up the slack so many times which allowed them to get picks and a lot of those were due to the other team having typical gold rank bad positioning anyway.

I think biggest tip for ranking is also and I get the feeling this is not highlighted enough is to help each other out, for example I play ana and there is a low health genji with me. I can choose 2 things kill the enemy who is attacking me or heal the genji who can kill it and trust my teammate. I rather don't ignore the genji quickly heal him and give him a better chance of helping me without him dying. sure supports should not entirely rely on their teammates and should fend for themselves but it is the attitude to help each other. in lower ranks that just does not happen. for example my friend he's playing rein and bob is in front, instead of keeping his shield up and trusting his teammates will deal with it he swings his hammer and everyone in the back died or got low health. also random banter while I'm at it alot of players see pro players and think they are one tricks and never played other roles but these guys can play all hero's very well but are specialized. don't be great at one hero and suck on others, be good on all and little better on one. you will also notice and learn from different roles like I always play tank I learned to think of my teammates how to protect them. If I play dps I can't take space and be aggressive my tanks have to do that. playing support helped me notice my surroundings more etc.

Egh what if you're playing Mercy tho? I mean her pistol does some nice damage but the aim on it is about as luck based as Hanzo's arrows, if not more skillbased since the projectiles move slower. With a weapon like that your entire plan is relying on them to walk into your bullets and not dodge your bullets. Like Ana shooting without scoping, it's unreliable. Sure Ana can defend herself way better than Mercy, if not sleeping the enemy you can anti them and scare them enough to make them back off, IF you have a good aim that frightens them that is, otherwise any good DPS can shaft you much faster than you can shaft them.

This guy doesn’t have too poor of mechanical skill. He makes shots in the beginning but I feel like they’re fueled by adrenaline. An important part of widowmaker is having cold blood. If you only make plays while heightened by adrenaline you can’t and won’t make those shots in a more calm situation. Work I’m playing consistently without letting adrenaline affect you.

Great advice. I only have about 10 hours total on widow, and i find if i can manage to get a pick or two at the beginning of the game, i perform significantly better throughout the rest. Its so fun, i wish i could play her more.
I'm actually the opposite, most of the time. It depends on the map, team, and day (my consistency with widow is very bad) but yeah, usually I do best when calm. I do run on adrenaline more with Ashe, though. I'm WAY more consistent with Ashe. It's weird how much it can change with each character.

Everyone's saying "They only submitted their best game." First of all, this game was awful anyway. Their aim was fairly good the first round, then it went downhill. Their game sense was horrific, and their positioning. If this was their best game then they should be lucky that they're in gold and not Bronze

I think you really overestimate his mechanics, because he had a bunch of clean shots. On the other hand he did miss 4-5 relatively easy shots in a row, so yeah it really comes down to consistency. There are many people in gold with 'brilliancy' in their mechanics, in fact most of gold players playing champs like widow have good mechanics, they are just shit in every other aspect like this guy :D People with poor mechanics will just play stuff like junkrat/pharah or play tank/heal.
The fact that he missed that shot on the widow when the match started, is enough information to know why he is still gold....

My first response to this was yeah, this person sent in the best game they've ever had. HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt this is how they play normally, or else they'd rank. However you can clearly see the goldie in them the longer the video continues......however I still say this is probably one of their better games........so, to the person who sent this is, and others who are thinking about doing the same thing, the best thing you can do if you want to rank - is to be honest with someone willing to coach you. Don't BS by sending in one of your best game, send in your average gameplay. The best thing that ever happened to me was to get a higher up top 500 player to spectate my normal games and give advice to help me with my fuck-ups...........picking through 100 games and sending in your best one, might make your ego feel good for a second when you watch the coach go "oh wow you're good", but it won't help you rank since you're not being honest about your general/average gameplay.

Pretty obvious why their still in gold, positioning and game sense is poor. Also players who send in their best game in which they pop off at certain points and the game not being fully representative of their skill or rank is annoying. I hope submission changes can be done for Overanalyzed for the future.

Chris Benn that’s what I hate about seemingly every widow review I ever see on UA-cam. You see people standing in terrible positions but getting ok shots because they are being ignored, “OMG great positioning widow you are destroying them your aim is master/GM not gold omg OMG omg” analyse it properly not based on whether they hit shots, that’s a big part for her but there’s so many aspects to being able to hit shots, and yet as long as they are getting a couple good shots on “easier” to hit targets then the reviewer ignores crappy positioning and clearly terrible game sense. But don’t listen to me, I’m just a filthy plat
@@tdmc6428 You're right and this is the problem with people sending in their best games instead of the games where they didn't perform. If this widow wants to get into plat then surely the most relevant games to see would be the ones that they play at high gold and end up losing i.e. the games that are stopping them getting to the rank they think that they deserve. That's where we would see them get wrecked because of their bad positioning and game sense, though even in this game it's obvious what their problems are.

Yes! That and also "what the enemy lets you do"! All the heros in Overwatch is good if "you" can just do whatever you want and you do not get pressured at all! The DPS is just the onces everyone can see becrouse they get displayed in the kill feed! If a main healer gets the same game as this widow got in the video, that healer can just standstill and heal everyone all the time! But they do not get in the kill feed... :-D

Not really. The widow we follow in the video is really bad! His aim is only "ok" on "attack" where there is no pressure on him and he can stand still and only think about his shot!
On defence where the team do not do so well, his aim is trash! Evan Sty says it! "...Mis...Mis...Mis...Mis...Mis..." Everytime the widow gets just a little pressure on him! "Good Aim" is not that you can hit your shots when everything is in your favour! "Good aim" is that you can hit shots when everything is NOT in your favour! So the video, the widow player sent was perfect! :) It shows what needs to be shown!
The problem with this whole setup so many UA-camrs are running is that they ask for videos of you playing a hero and "coach" that! But as many of them say, that is a bad player from the start! If you stay on the same hero all game you are bad! Especially if you are losing the game! Overwatch is designed for its players to switch heroes a lot! The map changes, the other team's comp changes... So many reasons! Sty has also said this! So There are many things that make this form of videos mostly entertainment more than anything else! It would be real "coaching" if it was about how the player plays a comp game and not about how the player plays one hero! :-)

One tip for improvement is to remove the flicking whilst aiming.

Have you realize that in the start of the first round widow was on the ledge damage boosted and widow misses first shot. To then get res. The start of the second round the exact same thing happened...

This widow should be gold for one main reason: she's oblivious to her team losing and provides NOTHING mid fight. Before and after, loads, during when it matters, none. I'm a silver flex though I can play widow, and if I don't get a kill DURING the fight, I switch. Simple. You need to get at least 2 kills to justify picking widow. This widow does that once or twice then just feeds. Classic low widow. "I popped therefore I'm good!" No. Id rather have a widow that consistently gets 1 kill a fight than one that gets 4 when it doesn't matter.
Bye I don’t disagree with your points on the widow themself, but I need someone to explain the me the logic the behind, you pick widow, you gotta clear out a third of the team by yourself otherwise you are useless, why is it only widow? Why is it a widow has to be carrying to be justified and yet a mcree or soldier or pretty much any other dps is fine waddling around poking and feeding ult charge to the healers. I’m not saying that she should be allowed to do that, nobody should do that, but why is it everyone focuses on whether the widow does it and not the rest of the team. When you have a widow everybody else has a free pass to suck, because the second she starts missing a couple shots she’s the reason you lose, even if say you spend a whole game on say Hollywood, headshot 3 people including the supports and help clear the tanks with a couple body shots and headshots, then you get the payload and jsut pick them apart by taking out the heads of every squishy you come across and taking angles to avoid having to fight the shield tanks without your team since the healers are higher priority, you push to second point and keep doing t but now you reach the final stretch, you’ve been clearly carrying all game but now you miss a couple shots while also dealing with hanzo, doomfist, genji and widow all hyper focusing you in a more compact space, a lot harder to land those picks and suddenly you realise, your team is doing nothing without you, they were sitting back until you got 2 of the 5 picks in the first teamfight. Suddenly you are the one at fault, you swap for the final bit since you aren’t gonna so much now but what is this I see? My team is now refusing to push without all your instant picks that allowed you to steamroll up to this point. But no it’s the person who played widows fault ignoring how the hanzo and doomfist didn’t get a single pick themselves.
TDMC good question let me explain. Widow is a character that’s value is defined purely based on getting picks to end fights quick and making enemy sight lines hell. The problem is, with widow being such a high skill cap and such a “hard” hero(in lower Elos) a widow is either doing great or doing nothing. The pick potential of an average widow along side the hitscan can be found in “easier heroes” such as cree or soldier. On the other hand, an effective widow can dominate games at even a T500 level which is why she is such a hit or miss hero. If she’s doing nothing, she makes the fight a 5v6 thus providing her team a major disadvantage. Hope that cleared things up!
Shyam Ganesh I appreciate your point, but I think wasn’t clear enough when I said I start hitting less shots. I mean I’m still hitting shots it’s just I’m getting a couple less of those instant kill headshots that allowed me to steamroll, I still do plenty and I take chunks out of peoples health during the entire fight which yes does mean I’m not being as good as I was earlier in the match (which from my description of that game up to last point I think we can both agree was carrying) but I’m certainly not doing nothing, and from a lot of my experience even when I have those windows of not doing my best, I’m still doing far more than the other dps, and the lack of instant kill picks means my team is afraid to do anything other than stand in the choke waiting for the enemy to build their ultimates. I’m aware my consistency does need to improve such that those windows are rare or negligible but that does not mean that I’m useless during those times and the entire match depends on whether I hard carry or just play well. It is a team game after, it’s ridiculous that I’m required to do all the work, especially so on that one specific character

@@tdmc6428 I'm not saying you have to carry but in a team fight, say an objective capture, your in the backline which means your team is down a person. You MUST get a kill so then the match is even and anything after that is value. If you have a widow and she gets 4 kills at the end of a fight when they have clearly lost, that's fine, you stagger them and that huge value but I'd rather you get 2 every fight so then we're not down a player every fight and a cleanup patrol.

As much as I think that most of the advice here was solid and useful; I feel like there was one piece of advice for the Widow player that doesn't hold up, that would be the advice to go to the high ground, right about: 20:02.
As a Widow player (a somewhat low tier one but I'm working to get better), I would have willingly sacrificed vision to not take such an unnecessary risk to go into the line of fire like in front of the Soldier 76 player. Widow would be turned into Mince'd meat if the player went there like that, so I think they made the good call of NOT going to that vantage point. I know this considering my experience in both comp and quickplay that shows the Saloon high ground is a somewhat vulnerable spot for some Widow players and not exactly ideal for me. The trenches between the rocksides were a much more acceptable and safe locale for me.

There is one thing I would say about not wanting a Mercy damage boost. In this situation it wouldn't apply based on the bad positioning at the beginning of the round.
Sometimes, you're in cheeky spots and you don't want to be seen. The Mercy boost can giveaway your position at times cuz it's very noticeable as you glow blue. I actually don't really like the boost in a Widow duel for that reason alone.

@@fossilizedamber yes, but very rarely... if they're playing enough games in a season to lower variance... people end up at the SR they're suppose to be. Every time a low SR player has ever complained about their SR and how teammates are the reason they're hard stuck... and you review their game footage, it always shows that it's them that's the problem.

I was stuck in silver for the longest time bc I played comp when I was pretty terrible when Brigette got into comp. next season I got placed silver and didn’t play after placements, next I placed gold, slowly ranking up bc of placement. Then easily climbed my way up to plat and then got lazy. Plat is honestly just as easy as QP for my so I think I’ll be able to climb to low diamond or at least high plat. Not sure tho lol I keep quitting the game cuz of all the constant toxic people, enemy team and my own team. It literally makes me quit competitive and I still haven’t played this season. Bc of toxic ppl. Constantly messaging me I’m bad at every character I play, saying in team chat that they can’t tell if I’m a girl or guy then proceeding to make fun of my voice. Many more things but like, it’s so much every single time I play comp. it makes me not want to climb and kinda chill in plat bc the higher I get the more toxic ppl I’ll get, especially if I talk in team chat. I’m pretty aggressive to I take up for myself but it completely ruins my mood and makes me hate overwatch even more even tho I really love the game
That voice part is the most annoying. I haven't even tried using voice in OW after my experiences in csgo. As a shy and insecure girl i hate when people start freaking out about my voice. I have been harrased few times too. Like people start following me to everywhere, block my vision when they walk right in front of my screen and saying stuff on voice or pm. I usually try to play with others or with my bf because of it. But i mostly play OW alone. God i hate those people

As an entry fragger, you have to communicate with your team to engage on your picks. It doesn't matter if you get a kill if your team just sits around and waits for them to respawn for a fair match.
