This was the period during which Bob came upstate, to Schenectady, NY. He stayed with the Alper family. My brother was a photographer, apprenticed to Joe alper, and was there when Bob and Suze showed up for one of Bob's first out of town gigs, at the San Remo Cafe`, in Schenectady. My brother and he hit it off and became friends. My brother visited Bob a lot in NYC in those days, staying with Bob and Suze in the 4th St. apartment. I have some wonderful photos of them together during this time. Bob came to our house quite often those days. He was always a polite young man and our family always welcomed his visits. I still have the harmonica he gave me, back then. Must have been the summer of '62.
He just wasn't a fast lead guitar player..look at the songs,,REMEMBER MOST DONT KNOW..his keyboard player. Sat and made up background keyboard parts,and melodically wrote about almost 50 of the best songs,with Bob keyboard player never got writers credit..,BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT..you rank amateurs

I really like how he sang in 1961. It's a bit more "warm" in a sense. I wouldn't put it up there with his best stuff or anything, but the early Gaslight stuff and his first album are pretty amazing

It is unknown if a kinescope of the video exists..also the show was syndicated to Germany and they didnt erase anything--it;s LOST at this time--but dont up all hope... I am also unsure if the Estate of Les Crane has copies...

He even managed to get a short-lived gig with Bobby Vee as a piano player after telling Bobby Vee's brother his name was Elston Gunnn (with 3 "n"s) and he just got off a tour with Conway Twitty. Bobby's brother said he only lasted a few gigs. He sounded great at his audition, but they quickly realized he could only play the piano well in the key of C. He was quite a character, very ambitious and willing to do whatever it took to achieve his ambitions!

This is just beautiful singing and guitar playing. There's that Driving rhythm guitar ... wow...notice how he continues to Tune in and out of songs. His ear is good, that he has stop playi ng and tune a string. And he needs no tuning apparatus. He just seems to have Pitch completely in his bag of tricks.
note: this not rare in the UK (and Europe?) as I bought it on Amazon UK. The rules about selling radio broadcasts are different here so we have tons of this sort of stuff in nice shiny plastic cases (and vinyl too)
No, he used Bob Dylan. The Blind Boy Grunt pseudonym was used when he appeared on the 1963 Broadside Ballads Volume 1 album. The album was released on Folkways records, but Dylan had already signed his contract with Columbia Records, so he used the pseudonym to avoid contractual issues.

No, he used Bob Dylan. The Blind Boy Grunt pseudonym was used when he appeared on the 1963 Broadside Ballads Volume 1 album. The album was released on Folkways records, but Dylan had already signed his contract with Columbia Records, so he used the pseudonym to avoid contractual issues.
