- Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses is interviewed by Sunrise ahead of their show in Perth in November 2022. Fans can expect three hours of rock anthems when they perform at Sky Stadium in Wellington on Thursday 8 December. Tickets available through Ticketek.
Duff is really such a sweetheart.
He has always been, even at the highest of his addictions you could see that he was a sweeetie
Duff Mckagan is a true rock star. One of the most recognizable bass players of all time. His hollow bass sound is such a key part of their sound.
He is and always has been. 🙂
Duff and his wife are adorable!
He was always my favourite !!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Duff pulled back from the brink of punk rock oblivion to transform into a wise and benevolent elder stateman living legend of the industry with a heart of pure gold and a black belt 🥋
I had the pleasure of meeting Duff, for the first time, in Wellington, Dec 9, 2022 (after this tour's gig). He came across as quite quiet and humble (for a rock star). I was lucky enough to talk with him and he looked straight at me, none of this being distracted, like when you meet some famous people. It was great. I thought this story was really well done. Credit to the reporter 👍🤘
Duff is pure class
God bless Duff. God bless Guns N Roses. Simply amazing group.
It makes hope that they will be around for many years to come
Lets hope!
Duff the only one awake to talk to a morning guy
What did Axl and Slash at that dawn time;-)
Haha ... Probably true. LOL. 😉
Ya gotta love Duff 🤘
I love Duff...he was very sweet and kind during a book signing. I'm so glad some reunited! Hard to believe he is almost 60!
Duff is such a gifted and likable bloke. Glad to see him and the band doing fine!
I was really impressed with their performance in Melb . The lighting was fantastic and Axle managed to bring some great vocals for three hours , and Slash didn't play one single bad note the whole time. The crowd were great to , no fights that I saw and plenty of parents brought their kids . The support acts could have been better though . Fantastic to hear they are all in good shape and have sorted themselves out .
This tour lacked the pyro from the '17 tour. But yea. The show was fantastic in Melb. I, for one would have to disagree about the crowd , as racist taunts and comments was something i personally encountered and so did my friend, and I found the crowd pretty uptight..Tbh i had a much better time in Sydney during 2017. Great to see so many kids and families though. What a band they are!
@@TheJellyFish-Ind Thats disappointing to hear . Didnt witness anything like that myself . i hate it when yobbos wreck it for others .
@@adamparker9765 yer I was at the melbourne show as well, as soon as the show started me and my brother stood up from our seats to sing along n generally rock out.
Got told "Sit down champ" by some knobhead behind us, like its GNR?
Anywho, I ended up sneaking up to the stage where the vibe was much better. People were blind, screaming and it smelt of dope haha
I saw them play London in the summer fulfilling a lifelong dream to see my favourite band play live
Yes I was there , loved it Axl was in great form , Love Duff the old trooper and he is a Seahawks fan yehhhh....
@@Upstairsforpete Axl was struggling a bit with his voice but it was still amazing, i'm a huge Slash fan so seeing him right there in front of me in the flesh was very surreal!
@@Slash1066 Yes I know he had a few problems but I think these singers are blasting it out every other night they are not going to sound pristine when they get to date number 100 of their world tour , so I cut them a bit of slack but I thought his stage craft etc was good better than when I saw them before.Thinking of going to London to see them next year...
I just saw them in Brisbane 2 weeks ago. Couldn’t believe I was actually there watching them. Absolutely awesome!
Que rojo sta Duff,x que sera,si ya no toma mas alcohol, sta viejo
Been to Evey Guns Show in Detroit & Ohio,Duff is a Sweetheart & So Is Susan his Beautiful Wife,Slash & Axl Rocked,They killed every Show,GN'R FOREVER 🤘🖤🎸👍
What scares me is how long ago it was that Appetite was out and I remember it vividly...and that was 87. I feel so old. I had their cassette tapes......in a walkman
I went along thinking they'd be ordinary but that I would go anyway, they punched out 28 songs, absolute quality! Had a great night!
I love this guy.Arguably the reason why Axl and Slash started talking again after more than 20 years.
GUNS N Roses are and have always been and will always be the greatest rock band. The videos from Australia are amazing, the stage show was electric, Axl's voice was so good, Slash's riffs were perfect, it was so cool, I really wish I was there. And Duff seems such a cool, nice guy now.
Saw them in Perth for the fourth time. Seen Slash once with Myles Kennedy. Guns and Roses were Awesome as always! It was worth the 12-month wait.
I saw Guns N’ Roses at Tottenham Hotspur in England in July. I’ve been to a few shows over the years, but THIS, was immense!!
Duff Mckagan my Bass Guitar god whom I got half of my bass line licks and styles..Such a sweet person!!
Duff seems like a nice and he looks good too.
It's great seeing Duff getting to enjoy his legend status. He's a legend because he doesn't know he's a legend, just a guy who loves rock 'n' roll and can do it good.
Duff looks so fresh and healthy nowadays
Amazing musician and humble guy. Still have his first solo album on CD where he plays all the instruments on it. His autobiography is a pretty crazy read!
Axl needs to start using that baritone voice, it is really good I loved the low grit, the falsetto is brutal sadly
FK that falsetto 😅
My thoughts exactly! He needs to quit trying to get those high pitched tones he once could get back in the day & sing to what he is capable of without sounding like Mickey Mouse
Could not agree more!
But how can you sing things like Welcome to the Jungle or You Could be MIne in baritone voice?
We need a new album!!
@what about the situation what a load of BS
Slash said that he's looking to get in to the studio when they get off touring. Don't take any notice of that clown that commented
@what about the situation what drugs are you on mate? I'd say it's you that is burnt out..cas Axl and the boys would run rings around you
@what about the situation I can organise it...
@@scottdavey3804 yeah coz they've only been touring on nothing but reputation for 7 years... "Once In A Lifetime" 😃
Duff is a fucking Legend!
I saw adelaide and melbs, hugely impressive 3 hour sets! Thanks for fkn coming
Terrific interview and story. Good questions. Quick background on the band, useful descriptions of the music, good questions, good writing and editing.
From a personal level as you probably won't see this Duff, but thank you for being you. You guys have matured and better for it.
Thank you for making our lives better.
Rock out and truck on.
🤟😎👍🚛🚛🚛
I will say, Duff looks so much more vibrant and healthy now than he did back in the 80s and 90s.
Me too😂
Agreed!
1993 Istanbul was great. I wanna see them one more time.
Have love the gunners since they first came out its hard to believe that they have survived the life they have led ,but dam im happy they have as bands like this only come once about every 20 or 30 years ,rock on till the day you die guys love you all.
Rock on Forever \m/ \m/
Duff Rules!!!
Duff looks really healthy , may he have many happy years of life.
Im seeing them tomorrow!!!!! In New Zealand
Duff has always been the coolest dude in GNR, for anyone who hasn't read his book I highly recommend it, blokes been through some hectic shit.
Saw them in Sydney in '88. Awesome show.... (The Angels were their support. Duff used to wear one of their shirts......)
Duff is an absolute legend… strongly recommend his autobiography!
Duffs an awesome guy, don't think he takes any of it for granted
Duff looks amazing! I'm so glad he got healthy and he's still here. Sexy man.
I recently played a Guns n Roses themed pinball in Wellington, New Zealand, and it was fantastic, well done!!
Melbourne at Calder Park, with Skid Row, now THAT was a fkn epic event, not just being blown away by them all, the day itself turned out be a show in itself, the weather the shenanigans that went on at the gate end waiting to get in haha... Epic wknd
I would love to just sit and drink tea with Michael. He just seems so laid back and genuine. I'm glad that he has his life back on track.
Gosh, I love him.
Happy Duff kicked the booze.. if you heard him speak in the 90s he sounded completely different..
Gotta love the chairs in the pit of a guns n roses show LMAO
My favorit band...
I consider myself lucky to be in the Sydney Stadium. It is never like before, but who am I to judge what is or not like before, who I grew up listening to! They are who they are...bada$$ rockers!
Glad to hear that they are healthier than ever!
They all my Brother. Good rock and roll!!
Love GnR, what an iconic band
2:40 .. that is a big stage, but I'm here after watching a rammstein stadium show. Now this looks tiny.
I love Guns n Roses though! They're the best!
I went a few weeks ago in the Gold Coast it was amazing 🤟🏽
What a nice guy
how has he never seen a guns n roses show
Unrivalled on the international rock scene since 1987 😂
Miss Steven.
Greatest band in history.
😂😂funny guy
Where did they get the backing tracks? They're awesome!
GNR 4ever!
New Album coming in 2045. That's the earliest prediction
jakby tak przyjechali teraz do Polski to by było wspaniale
Great job scoring an interview with an actual member of the band. Can't believe you didn't ask about the girl in the band.
By "the girl in the band", I'm guessing you mean Melissa Reese on the keyboards?
@@rbolwell yeah she's been with them for 7 years now and it's never been brought up in any interview with other band members. At least there was one magazine article on her which was really awesome to see.
@@rbolwell Tell me about it. Who is that random girl on the keyboards? Never saw her before.
Seems like EVERY band is THE GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD.
weird how there's literally half a second footage of the singer.
I wished they come to India... They are so big in India..
The greatest band to ever walk this planet.
Lol. Not really. Trust me.
You've got to be shitting me.
Big call!, there's been some bangers
@@zakiahmad4024 I am not trusting anyone named Zaki. No way!
@eternal monstrosity Lol, random people on internet disagree about music shocker. It matters now, I know I am right. And no, I'd say a close second are The Beatles, followed by Nine Inch Nails and Rage Against The Machine.
***Sky Stadium You Rule*** ***THANK YOU FOR THE COOL STUFF****
Serenity Duff
I want to see axl being interviewed🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
If they do one last show later on they should do the original
Axl
Steven
Duff
Slash
Dizzy
Izzy
And Melissa for extra keys
Duff is his generation's Keith Richards. He cannot be killed by conventional weaponry.
🇧🇷🌹❣
Grestest band on earth
He looks great given his lifestyle
He has been leading a very different lifestyle for the last 3 decades.
@@leplasti did he give up the drugs?
Yep he sure did, give up the drugs and alcohol.
@@bartoni79 Yes, he almost died from pancreatitis due to his drinking in 94. As soon as he got out of the hospital he quit drugs and booze. He talks about it in his autobiography, which is a great read BTW.
Is the crowd seated all the way to the front lol, is this ELO or GNR Lol
Was there 30 yrs ago. Eastern Creek..
That would’ve been fckn AWESOME!
@@jodietherese9984 wow. Thanxfor reply.
It was AWESOME...100k ppl...was a scene for sure...
@@4pmpm114 so cool! I went to see them at Suncorp a couple weeks ago. Only about 50,000 then - but what an atmosphere! The boys have definitely still got it
@@jodietherese9984 wow again, 4 reply..
Jodie your Aussie 🇦🇺🇦🇺 obviously...
Love ya....
Good on you...support the Rok n Roll, its ALLLLLLL Good....
Thanx 4 reply, love ya...be good and Life is Yours.....
Stop asking stupid questions about age ,Duff handles it well.
Axl´s puntuality has changed too
DUFF IS OUR LED ZEPPELIN,HE DON'T UNDERSTAND HE IS FROM THE DAYS WHEN ROCK N ROLL WAS COOL... CATER.
Isn't that Steven Adler on the Drums ?
Better be telling the truth, because I would love them to come back in the next upcoming years
I totally agree with you, cause i missed out on seeing them, cause i just didnt have the money.
@@danielle5980 I saw them this year and it was such an experience but I came in late as I was to younge for them in 2017 when they came. Even if they come one more time. I'm waiting for that day to come
Overall feedback was an unforgetable moment to jus be there, get mongst it.
So, do you sit on the rock concerts these days? 😱😱😱
Axl is hilarious
Yes you are right. Best live act you can get for your money these days
You are hilarious. Screw you, hater.
So sad to see those seats instead the crowd of South America. It's a RnR concert, not ballet.
Interviewer - “Till you are knockin on heaven’s door?” 😐
My god that was cringe.
That's all good Duff ,
How bout Izzy & Steven ?
I wonder if they feel alright today ?
I don't want to think about gnr retiring...ever.
What about the woman who got her face busted up at the Adelaide show when Wankxl Rose threw his mic into the crowd???
Yes, and he apologised for that, and didnt realise at first it had happened, and made a statement, ssying he wouldnt be doing it in the future.
Duff looks good. He didn't get fat at all.
Need Gilby and Matt back
They are not original members... Yes I know that those two guys in this band right now are not too.
@@jaakkoniskanen1978 I know they aren't the original I didn't say for the original the 1992 Tokyo tour was the best live concert that's why I said that fool
@@77iam97 no its wasnt , live at the ritz was the best
Gilby I don’t care, fortus is a beast. Matt yes. Frank ferrer sucks
Seats in a stadium? Eh??
G'n'R today causes epilepsy and sadness
What do you mean?
Chairs? On a GNR concert? Something is not right!!!
Recycling just the two original albums since 32 years ago seems to be working just fine for easy cash. Those hoping for a new album may have to wait a while. Right now they are milking this tour for seven years because it is easy and lots of cash. Teasing the fans here and there about a new album, keeps the fans going to the concerts. Will they have a new album? May be. At one point. In the next few years. When they are tired of touring and consider that they made enough millions. Their priority is to make millions with this tour since they reunited in 2016. The new album will be an Axl Rose, Slash and Duff album but not a GNR album, and that's because of Izzy. Izzy was the creative vital tool of GNR. Izzy was the corner stone of GNR. Without his input, it will not sound like GNR, those songs they keep recycling for 32 years and everyone loves. There will be perhaps be a good album like Chinese Democracy but not a great GNR album.
No, no he doesn't. That was a preview, not a review.
Are they going to settle up with Australian Crawl for ripping off Unpublished Critics for Sweet Child??
You are confused…. Not the same song…. Only 3 chords in Rock n Roll that are responsible for millions of different configurations and songs….. any similarity is pure coincidence, like 100s of 1000s of other songs over the last 70 years that sound similar….. 👌
@@NigelHyphenJones mate, it's an open secret in the music industry. As James Rayne said, the only reason they didn't sue was because they couldn't afford Gunners lawyers
@@mattgraham6231 that’s a lame excuse…. ever heard of no win no fee 🤔 …… there are plenty of music business shark 🦈 lawyers / ambulance chaser types that would have happily taken a copyright case on, if it was such a sure fire bet (especially in the litigation capital/country of the world- LA/US). The truth is, there is not enough similarity between the two songs, hence no appetite to litigate…. no pun intended
@NigelHyphenJones Oddley enough Australian Crawl aren't based in America. Hard to fathom I know. As I previously stated, it's well known in the industry, (which I'm based) as to what happened. But hey, sue me......🤣
