We go to the same hospital and I’m having a gastric emptying test done beginning of next month! This seriously helped ease me so I could see what to expect!
I think I'm weird, I thought the eggs tasted fine, haha! I got egg whites actually, and they had salt and pepper which I absolutely used. Voila! Easiest study I've done by far. Good luck to anyone getting it! You've got this.
I have delayed emptying (gastroparesis) but they haven’t formally diagnosed me yet since they used a barium swallow last time, so now I’m due for the emptying study next week! Not looking forward to the eggs tho, I like eggs right now 🥴
Had one done today and personally (this is not an attack) I think it may just be a placebo effect you tasting anything. Radioactive tracers have no taste as all they are are mostly water with some of it's atoms replaced by radionuclide. They stopped at the 90 minute mark stating they had enough data despite my stomach being half full still which is concerning.
Had this done about a week ago. By the time the 4 hour test was done I had not eaten or drank for 16 hours (except the egg white and toast). Of course I had no problem getting that through my stomach. It's a normal size meal that includes at least a little fat that makes digestion difficult. Take something to read.
Hope your feeling better. My doctor ordered mine today for a Stat! So next week I go. Can't keep anything down and they currently have me on a no throw pill that you put in your mouth and let desolve 🤢
I’ve looked up gastroparipisis and I’m pretty sure I have it but my parents don’t think I do and the thing is that I hide my pain a lot of the time I really want to get the test just to see if I do but no one thinks except me and it’s MY. body any tips?
i’ve been dealing with constant nausea and my doctor doesn’t know what’s wrong so i’m getting this test done tomorrow. i’m pretty nervous ab the eggs. i like eggs but they don’t seem appetizing when i feel nauseous. any tips?
i’m sorry i don’t have any, my doctor pretty much just told me to suck it up and eat the eggs because it was the only way lol. i hope the study went well! 💛
I have to do this on the 15th of December. Im getting a surgery for reflux as my valve is very very weak they just need to see the reflux themselves so they ordered this test
Just had my gastric emptying study today. The radioactive scrambled eggs (all they had me eat) had no butter or salt and were rubbery. Ate them all. Nasty. Two hours under a scanner, then a short scan two hours later. I suspect that the study will be inconclusive...
I have one of these today - I've been in hospital for 5 days bc of stomach issues and weight loss. They think it's gastroparesis, but this will confirm, or not. I think I'm going to let my nurse get vitals, get changed and tidy, and then take a quick walk about the ward to distract myself. I love eggs tho, I'm sorry you had to eat them when you hate them so much 🤢

Tatyana Hermosa_princess21 even though my stomach can move food through it, it’s very inflamed and so eating makes me really sick and i can’t really keep any food down
@@laurenboh makes sense sorry chic I feel you. I'm also chronically ill in dignosed GI issues from Canada Ontario I was looking for videos to explain how GES goes because that's the next plan, having so much trouble keeping anything down and pain and bloating and nausea :( hope things are doing bit well for you! Hugs,
I had this test done about a year ago and they use eggs because typically they’re really easy to digest and not too hard on the stomach:) hope this helps xoxo
@@jillianbriggs6884 Hey, idk if you got the test done yet or not but the eggs were just really bland because they can't add anything to them other than the dye stuff lol. Hope everything goes well! xoxo
@@ashleypeters3441 yea i got it done... he gave me ketchup, salt, pepper, and just plain bread. i had to finish it in 10 mins but i was so nauseous and my whole body was shaking i could barely eat 1/2 in 12 minutes.

@@laurenboh Do you know if there is any way to do the test if you are vegan? Anyway I love your videos
@@ryliealldredge8588I think some hospitals offer tofu just call them up and ask. And well if not you know... Is it really worth risking your health?
what do they do if you are gluten free? I might have this test and cant eat bread :(
Was your stomach hurting prior to eating the egg?
You absolutely can taste the tracer. They put mine in oatmeal and I was gagging
Did you actually ask them what they put in the food that's radioactive??
it’s a small amount of contrast dye that will show up on scans!
Why does it hurt/make people nauseous and throw up? I’m so scared of throwing up 🥺
Oh. Does eating anything hurt you/make you feel sick?

Tatyana Hermosa_princess21 this is how I feel but my doctor won’t do anything
I had to do the same thing two months ago made me constipated
Why did they use eggs specifically for the test?
Laurin Cutchember i’m not sure actually haha i think it’s just easy to mix the contrast in the scrambled eggs :)
