Hi Brian, owner of the best fly shop in the US! I say it because you're customer service is great and I get the stuff fast. I have a question, not about soft hackle but the borchers bear hi-vis. I got one over the winter for the spring, I really liked the fly but eventually lost it. So I ordered a couple more and when I got them, they seemed fine, put them in the fly box, moved them a couple times to make room for other flies. I was trying to tie one on a couple weeks ago and it pretty much came completely untied. Never had it in the water, nothing. So I went to tie the other one on, I noticed it was doing the same thing, has anyone else had a problem like that? Just curious. Have a great weekend
Thanks for checking with us and thanks for watching. Brian doesn't come around these parts so you'll need to send him an e-mail at the shop or give him a call. He'll be happy to help but you'll just need to reach out to him there.
@@Madriveroutfitters thank you for taking the time to message back, I guess I didn't figure I was messaging Brian, wasn't sure if anyone had said something to you up there. Really looking forward to coming to see everything you guys have in person instead of on the phone. Seriously, you all are the absolute best, thank you
Great video, where can I find that particular stem for the vise? I’ve been looking all over and can’t seem find it, and it is not on your website. Thanks
Thanks Brian, I always learn a lot from you. What size hook, 10-14? I'm tying up a bunch to donate to TU for their fishing programs. We have moved away from Columbus and I joined a fly tying club in the Chicago area (DRiFT)
The Hungarian Partridge skin, is that hen or male? And at 7:12 you use Pheasant skin instead of Hungarian Partridge? I'm so confused here why you intro Hungarian partridge skin and instead use Pheasant skin.
@@Madriveroutfitters Sorry, but he said in the video at that time he is using Pheasant Skin regardless of what anyone can see on the table-did he do a Microsoft?
You'd simply have to check with him? This was probably 10 years ago? He probably won't even remember he made the video but....give him a call at the shop.
Thanks Brian one of the best videos on the Soft Hackle out there
Thanks for watching!
Thanks. Some very useful techniques. I have often struggled wrapping the wing. Your method is the best explanation that I have heard.
Thanks for watching.
Brian, nice tying video, simple and to the point, The fly is a great blue gill fly in 12-14 2x long shanks thanks again Ron, NKFF
Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for the Davy Wotton tip. Novice here and it’s so simple it was like magic. Thank you for upping my learning curve.
Thanks for being here!
Very nice. Wow this is now over 7 years old and you don't look a day older in your new videos!
Thanks for watching. We're trying to get him to share his secrets!

Thanks for watching. Regal no longer makes that version. Sorry.

Thanks for watching. Please send your questions over to Brian at the shop and he'll be happy to help/answer. E-mail is fine or you can call him.
what kind of hackle pliers is he using?
So not sure on that....this was 8-9 years ago? Feel free to call him or e-mail him at the shop and he might remember? Thanks for watching.
Hey what state are you guys in?
Ohio. www.madriveroutfitters.com
What about Starling?
Send those questions over to the shop and they will be happy to help you there. Thanks.
what hook size range do you tie these flies in?
Most often we are tying Soft Hackles in #12-16 with #14 leading the charge.

Would be male skins that we mostly use. Sorry but at 7:12 he is using a Hungarian Partridge. Don't see a Pheasant Skin on the table.
