  • This tutorial is the beginning of the connector series. Today we will go over bolts connection safety factors and finding critical bolts using the connector feature in SolidWorks.
    Hope you enjoy it!
    Learning Outcomes from this video:
    • Setup assembly for bolted connection simulation
    • FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
    • Critical load and safety factor
    • Stress and safety factor
    • Read and modify results
    • Presenting FEA results in a desired format
    Thank you for watching! Enjoy!

Hello, why you didn't specify preload? Here bolts work as a pin.

Sorry, @@cadcaelab, Is It necessary to suppress coincident mate before starting simulation?

M16 bolts have a pitch of 2, which means 1 thread every 2 mm, or 0.5 threads per mm, not 2 threads/mm as shown.
    Very helpful video!

Hi, why we see bending moment result on bolt? We check bolts as per code (EN-AISC etc.) and i cannot see bending moment check there? Could one explain it ?

Hello shouldn't the load be concentrated on the halfway distance of the 15 thickness? If so how you put load of 16 Kn totally distributed along the edge.that means that you should multiply this uniform 16 Kn load by 15 to get the equivalent point centered load. Am I correct?

I wirk through this entire thing and you put the force on a face that I don't have because of how you make the parts? Like why would you not show how to do this the other way?
