The performance is truly horrendous. 70-80 FPS in the Wilderness, take two steps into Verdun and it drops to 30-40. RE4 had similar MTX but the game ran like a dream. DD2... doesn't. So, the flood gates burst.
Meh....anyone that's ever bought a Capcom game knew these items would be here every one of their games come with these kind of "timesaver" mtx's that are entirely optional...and the day they stop there will be just as much backlash because they are missing...with the last few Resident evil games they waited a month or 2 before adding them because of a bunch of backlash because" they new the game was tedious".....I'm not a fan of microtransactions but I'm equally not a fan of a bunch of entitled commenter that will always find something to co.plain about rather then choosing not to interact with that thing they dislike....again I knew they would be there at some point...but had not seen them myself in my 15 some odd hours and only found out it was there until tonight about an hour ago when I got on youtube and saw the crying.
@Wolfheartfps To start a new game -- Go to the game and character creator turn off cloud sync the go to each store page and make note of the id numbers then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata in your user ID folder find the correct ID number for each one and delete all the files recreate your character and pawn launch game and it should start a new game (mine did)
the annoying thing is that issues like this will just create more pirates to avoid denovo and to avoid a lot of the issues that normally come with these kind of games and that will in turn make companies "need/want" too make money in other ways like more microtransactions to make up for the loss in sales its a vicious cycle.

My CPU isn't top of the line anymore but with an RTX 4090 and a Ryzen 7 5800X3D I'm seeing like 40-50 FPS in the capital (max settings or minimum settings, it doesn't matter) with like 50-60% CPU utilization. They claim it's a CPU thing, but it's not even fully utilizing the CPU. They really just need to optimize it. Edit: 40-50 FPS is very bad, and it's a really bad feeling choppy 40-50. Most people have it MUCH worse.
@@maolcogithe frametmes in this game are really bad, thats why it does feel choppy even at 60 fps. It would even feel bad at 100 fps. (For example one frame beeing 16 ms long and another one beeing 20 ms long.) It's a core issue that is not going to go away if the develeopers do not fix the issue.

Micro transactions incentivise bad corporate behaviour. It’s not about whether these items are available in the game. The problem is that there is now an incentive to make them harder to get in game than they should be, creating the potential for a sale.
If everyone was happy with microtransactions in their current state then more companies would get riskier with what they paygate as well. Like actually paygating powerful weapons and armors with no other way to get them. We should've never let it get this far
The devs aren't making it harder to get, I have played Dragons Dogma 1 and the amount of stuff u get is pretty much the same in dd2, the game is designed that way, its just that these microtransactions make it seem not that way, either way, its not even hard to get in game, like at all, not a single one of these things is even close to being hard to get in the actual game

DD2 would've been such an easy W for Capcom. It's sad they did this and soured the reputation of this game for a lot of people. The core experience is still really good in a lot of ways and I've been having fun with it. But all of this controversy could've been avoided. I also agree that launching without a "new game" option is WILD. But hopefully they will actually patch that and not just make a PR statement and hope the backlash blows over. As for pay-to-win elements, they're not the worst I've seen - especially since the items are a one-time purchase only. But you can buy 5 wakestones, which are used to revive yourself on death. So you can literally buy items that prevent you from dying to bosses and tougher enemies.

It does not matter if the item can be earned in the game or not. It does not matter if the items have little effect on gameplay. We do not want cash shops in our full-priced, premium, single-player games. Whether you can buy the items once, multiple times or not, it does not matter. What matters is that these items are being sold in the first place. These are anti-consumer practices and should not be supported.

Kinda wish this outcry happened a decade+ ago. Capcom has gotten away with it for years without much pushback DMC 5, The RE remakes hell the original DD game had it which are all single player games.
The problem isn't the microtransactions itself, the problem is mtx perverse game design. eg. port crystals are the most important things in Dragons Dogma. If people start buying the mtx for them, devs will take notice and start putting important items behind highly inconvenient hurdles incentivizing players to buy them.
The news certainly soured my intention to play. In Canada this game is $95. I am not paying $95 dollars for a single player game with microtransactions. I have heard the response that *most* of these items are available in game, and that should incentivize me to look past the optional microtransactions. I will say that news does not have that impact on me. The only thing that news incentivizes me to do is to wonder if the availability of these items in game were designed to compliment the existence of these microtransactions. I do not have faith that the game was designed in such a way as to completely ignore the existence of microtransactions, and I am more than heavily inclined to believe that my in game experience is designed in a way to influence my desire to engage with them. I have faith in my past experience with how microtransactions influence game design. I will not gaslight myself and diminish these experiences to engage with a $95 single player game with microtransactions.
It's not like it is in ubisoft which actually does incentivize purchases in its game design. Anyone who plays this game can tell its not incentivized. Only real issue with this game is performance for pc players and no new game for some reason

If the current mtx shop doesn't effect you now it will in the future without push back these greedy companies will nickle and dime you for every penny you have. The big No for me on the game is not being able to start a new game. I'm fine with being locked to just one campaign/story, but not being able to delete that and start a new one is the reason I chose to not buy the game. With some games, I need to play them a bit to learn their different systems. Some games take me a bit longer than others. But there's always a moment when the systems "click" for me. And generally when that happens, I start fresh again. I did it with BG3 because I had never played D&D before. Again, I'm fine with being limited to just one, but not letting me delete that one and start over is crazy to me. So when I think about that sort of design decision I suspect there are other design decisions they've made that's not going to be my cup of tea either. I knew BG3 set some new standards, but I never thought in 2024 I need to start asking the question from upcoming games of "Can I start a new game after I started one?" But here we are.

I gassed this game up so hard to my old roommates and my daughter (she beat Elden Ring a few months ago all on her own) because I thought it looked amazing and I heard great things about DD1. So glad I don't pre-order anything anymore because this has been an absolute clown show, truly sick of the gaming industry right now. I feel like Larian and Fromsoft have the weight of the world on their shoulders being the only game developers that aren't complete and utter soulless money sucking goons.

I always think a bit too much about this stuff but they say in the main cities it is the many NPC's that bog down the CPU but the city isn't even all that crowded and I'd go as far as saying its about as crowded as the first game. I just think there is more to it than this. I mean we've had more characters in older Bethesda games whose AI was more complex with schedules and doing tasks. It has me concerned for the upcoming Monster Hunter game as its supposed to run on the same engine.
Ikr. This makes sense with a game like Baldurs Gate 3 because it literally had like 1000 character models in the city of Baldurs Gate, so people expectedly ran into some fps drops when they arrived. Even that wasn't as horrible as this game, and BG3 is literally twice the size of dd2 lmao

That you can't restart the game with different profiles is ridiculous. In the character creator that was released you could make 5 characters and 5 main pawns. I felt that was an indication of how many different characters I could make without having to delete one. We are way past the Commodore 64 era and this should be possible.
Exactly. Recently I created the lodoss crew in all 3 dark Souls as a mean to replay those games with different builds. Not being able to do that in dd2 is a no go for me until they fix that
@@polodhtip6061 You can literally swap to any vocation on your character with no issue. You dont even have to bother "min-maxing" because the game swaps around your stats to fit your vocation unlike DD1. If its to experience alternatives to the story, the game has ng+ where your progress is carried over. What exactly is the issue?
@@polodhtip6061 Yes you can change the name and appearance but not at will. You have to buy two "art of metamorphosis" tickets which you take to the barber to change your appearance. You can also spend gold to change aspects as well but meta tickets lets you change mostly everything. Not sure if you can change your pawns inclinations with it or not.

That simply means they have no ETA, that it's not something as simple as "Oh, we just need to press the 'Fix-it-now' button, of course!" They have addressed it and that's far better than ignorance or putting the blame on the user.

The FPS drops in the towns is pretty annoying. But I can honestly say that’s my only gripe so far. Absolutely loving every minute of it. I’m about 16 hours deep. The micro-transactions are a nonissue. Just don’t buy them lol
The game is great though. The MTX are worthless and entirely composed of items you can easily find in the game. The MTX doesn't even effect the balance of the game

That's Dragons Dogma in a nutshell. For me It was the main negative of the first game and seems to be back in this sequel. I'm glad i held off buying this game.

But I’m hearing it’s not the story, voice acting, gameplay….its the micro transactions which I don’t need and the frame rate ? This will be better optimized in a patch not that it acceptable to release a game that way but it’s 2024. Is it better than Cyberpunk when it released or AC Unity ? I personally don't care too much either way but do think the existence of this is appalling and I will not purchase anything in their cashshop. Though I would spent money on cosmetics if there was a transmog-type system in the game but thats a different topic. I wouldn't leave a negative review myself because of it but accept the opinion of players who find this bad enough for a negative review. The item needed to allow appearance modification for example wouldn't have to exists. The barber charges gold for every other option and should charge gold for that too. The item can be bought in-game for RC and the grind for RC is not bad in my humble opinion. But some players feel it is grindy and they don't like that grind so they see the cash-shop as a solution. This is exactly the type of customer Capcom is aiming at. Capcom could easily not have the item, and even give more RC to players during the game and have more ways to earn it if they are so concerned players with little time find it hard to earn RC. Its a single player game after all, so why not! Capcom created this problem to begin with just so they can add the cash-shop "solution". Any excuse, like, "its optional", or "you can only buy it one time" is exactly what Capcom is counting on.
Everyone is saying greed and crap. You can literally get almost EVERYTHING in game that’s in the shop. I can take a dip here and there in dps for a good gaming experience. The only problem I have is not having multiple saves/characters. Now that IS a problem. And honestly after hour 10 the only thing you really have to worry about is if your pawns actually die and even then you can re summon your main pawn. Really people are freaking out for no reason. You’re just asking for your experience to be a cake walk. The game was made with perfect balance to everything and I think it works well. Again not having another character is the only problem I have here.
Unfortunately Wolf has jumped on the outrage farming bandwagon and its disappointing. There are valid issues like the performance and not having a new game option but these are things Capcom have addressed and will amend. The cash shop outrage is absolutely pointless. People see microtransactions and lose their shit when most of the time they can ignore it and still enjoy the game. But this video will get Wolf views and interaction so I understand his motive from a business aspect. No different to companies trying to make income in any way they can.

Capcom have been doing the whole 'single-player cheat microtransactions' thing for a while now and it has not caused them much harm in the past. They did this in Monster Hunter World, RE remakes, DMC5, probably other games I'm forgetting, and yes even the original Dragon's Dogma (in fact what they offered there was worse IMO) in case people forgot. And yet all those games have glowing praise. The real issue is the performance, the cash shop stuff is just something else to complain about. You wouldn't even be hearing about the microtransactions nearly as much if people were able to run the actual game to a decent degree. As with those other Capcom games, if people are actually able to play and the game quality is good, people really do not care that much about the microtransactions.
Not just a complaint. In a game where you can choose a class and wanting to try them all out.....but having to pay to create a new character is the only way is utter crazy greedy. Every other game let's you create more then one character, and if not, then they let you start over...for free. Single Player microtransactions is such ass, it should honestly be made banned in the industry.

Cap com was doing so well man. I didn’t play the first one, but I pre ordered this one after spending a few hours in the character creator. Only issues I’ve had so far is the terrible city experience. It’s a stuttery mess hovering around mid 50s and sometimes into the 40s. It’s a fun game, but it’s such a shame the launch is so bad. Specs: 7700X paired with 7900XTX I know I’m not the majority in terms of specs, but the fact I’m facing issues as well should tell anyone about the poor optimization of the game.
Yes it's terribly optimized. I know when iceborne came out it was also awful. I don't have high hopes for games these days, that's why BG3 blew me away, even tho it should be the standard.
OK but you're both missing the point, I said 40s and 50s are extremely playable. Nobody said it was 144FPS at 8k. Simply that 50+ FPS in densely packed city environments isn't a stuttery mess (unless the 1% lows are terrible, which is an entirely different issue).
I have a beefy build..4080 7800x3d running smooth and love this game so far. Hopefully we can get this fixed so people can play. Beyond happy with the purchase

My plan was to delete that save after play testing and start a new one. Little did I know I was screwed from the beginning. I couldn’t believe I wasn’t allowed to start a new game. Not even multiple saves, just deleting my save and starting over. That’s insane
@@ransom-- Even if you had got far enough to be able to change vocations, your comment would still be entirely valid. Maybe you just wanted to start again with the new vocation? Rather than going from whatever the change point is? Having no New Game option is insane, anyone who can't see that is crazy. Also, things to consider on this topic: In the first game, the stats you gain from levelling up was dictated by your Vocation as well, meaning there was reason for wanting specific ones for specific parts of the game. And in the first game, there WAS a New Game option. These people trying to "gotcha!" you for your completely reasonable opinion shouldn't be allowed to procreate until they see the error of their ways lol.
This is just my opinion but the MTX is a NOTHINGBURGER, who cares! I have a relatively modern PC and the game runs at 24FPS inside of cities, can we focus on that please? I just want to play the game, I will never touch the store, I don't care if other people do, it's their lives, do whatever you want with your single player game, just make the game playable! Its startingbto seem really clear that no one here played the first DD where you most likely would have NEVER looked at the store because there was no point when you're swimming in wakeshards and 2 shotting drakes because your character is just that busted. Money becomes a non-issue and so does RC. it never mattered unless you were utterly lazy.

This won't hurt them. The game isn't an unplayable buggy mess like Cyberpunk was at launch, it just has some slow down here and there. The cash shop is blown way out of proportion, it's not the first single-player RPG to have it (see any Ubisoft game) and it won't be the last, plus it's more about the mere presence of microtransactions rather than what they actually are. People will forget to be mad after a couple weeks and move on to the next thing.
They most definitely will, as many issues their games have at launch they still deliver in terms of the actual games themselves. As long as the games are fun players will always come back even if theres issues like rn.

To be fair - my PC's specs are below minimal requirements (I have a 4 core CPU) and I haven't had any serious issues with performance. FPS are mostly around 40-60 fps, with occasional drops to 20 (but very brief). Sure, it's not great, I'm playing on low res, but still, I'm having a blast with the game. Mind you, I'm the kind of player who don't care a lot about graphics and performance, so I get why some people might be dissapointed. For the amount of outrage the game got, it seems a bit undeserved.
It needed a little more polish, Maybe 6 more months in the oven to polish the optimization (this thing will be patch out I guess with time like Cyberpunk). But I am still loving the game. And about the mtx (a practice that disguste me as much as everyone) I have a Theory, the devs didnt want to put mtx to make players angry, BUT the big heads, Ceos, Investors at Capcom, they forced to do that "modern practice" in their games. So They were like "OK, lets put mtx, juts mtx that can STILL be get inside the game". So they pleased their CEOS overlords, trolling them knowing their smart player base would figure it out that ALL those mtx can actually be get In game.
Microtransactions are bad, fact. But this game is incredible, and all the microtransactions are irrelevant things you can get easily in the game for free.

Huh...I honestly didn't realize the game had a mixed response. Lol Everyone I've talked to loves the game, and so do I. Does the performance suck? Hell yeah it does, but I wouldn't say it's enough to ruin the game for me. I still think Capcom should have added a performance mode to the game. If NPCs bog down the performance then we should get an option for how many NPCs we want loading into the game.
I'm gonna give a controversial take here as someone who has been playing constantly since release on an RTX 2080; The performance is not the best I've seen in a new release but also very respectable on my (yes it objectively is) near obsolete hardware considering how good it looks. New games aren't made for people with 10 year old setups, fact. The save thing is VERY sus and frankly a bit insane however there is a very simple workaround of maybe... deleting the file? It's not like restarts are impossible to do even on consoles. The cash shops is honestly not surprising and I can almost guarantee came from Capcom pressure and not from dev intentions. It's also really not that deep, barely affects gameplay and can be ignored as all bullshit cash shops should be. Vote with your wallet always. All in all besides my personal issues of no hard mode and vocations missing that were available in DD1, both of which will very likely be fixed in either free or payed DLC, the game is fucking excellent and I am going to encourage everyone I know, especially DD1 fans, to play it when they can.
Well....I have a differing opinion on how good it is. I means aside from the obvious things mentioned in the video (Performance, no new game, and an unnecessary cash shop) I find that the game doesn't really do anything different than other games in this genre. I certainly wouldn't call it a RPG, but rather an action adventure game with RPG elements. The pawn system, while a cool concept, seems to be more of a long term problem because it seems to be tied to so many of the limitations of the game. The Brine is nothing more than an invisible wall that eats your pawns and anything that they carry (including quest items that you need) and they don't seem to be smart enough to stay out of the damn water! Combat is fun in the beginning but after your 400th goblin, 1000th wolf and 20th mini boss it all starts to become a bit monotonous. I feel like I've done the main story quest a million times and it was done better in other games and quite frankly, the story narrative just doesn't grab me like others in other games have. All in all, I won't say it's a bad game, because it does have it's moments and it is a beautiful game. The character creator is second to none and deserves some kind of award for that alone. I do think that the cash shop issue is being blown out of proportion because I've never even opened it up and never will and am doing fine. I think that performance will be addressed sooner or later and they already seem to be looking into the no new game issue. My biggest problem is the game's lack of "soul", if you will. Instead of playing it I am on UA-cam talking about it and usually when a game grabs me, I don't come back to UA-cam for days or weeks because I'm too busy playing. The game just hasn't grabbed me and to me that's the biggest red flag of all.

I picked up the game this morning and have been playing it all day on PS 5 with zero issues, so your "big problem #1" only seems to be a problem for some people (possibly PC folks). Microtransactions in a single player game is a non-issue. It impacts no one but yourself, so if you don't like it, don't use it. It's just that simple. People who are complaining about this are the same people who complain about the color of their neighbor's car. What your neighbor chooses to buy or not buy is not your business and has no impact on you. So it really only leaves the restart issue, which Capcom has acknowledged and is working on. Failed launch? Hardly.
I agree 100% I have to wait to play because I ordered a physical copy to add to my library. Almost all the micro transactions are in the digital deluxe edition on PS5. I do not want any of them anyway, it will ruin the experience. As for the performance issues, who cares. It will get better. Currently I am playing Fallout New Vegas on my PS3, so I am pretty sure a few minor slow downs will not wreck the game. If the game is good, have fun and people need to stop spreading misinformation.
Why is everyone so upset about the micros in this game specifically? Other capcom games like the Resident Evil remakes and DMC 5 also have them but no one really cares. Yes micros suck and it would be great if they all went away but that's clearly not happening. This is far from the worst way to implement them. The game is single player and completely playable without them. I'm not saying the game perfect. The performance issues and lack of new game options are unacceptable. I'm just saying everyone clutching their pearls over this game having a cash shop while ignoring others seems odd.
It's a good game, and it's everything I needed it to be. It finally fleshed out what dd1 was trying to be. With that said, it's disappointing that for a lot of people, the performance of the game is wanky at some points. I hope that gets fixed. The no new game was an extremely poor decision on their part and needs to be added. The microtransactions are honestly not that bad. Everything is attainable by simply playing, and it can honestly be ignored. I guess for some people, it's the principle, but ultimately, it's not pay to win. You can and should ignore it all together. Other than these three issues, if the first 2 get addressed, the game can finally be what it is..... a master work

Yeah except for at lunch and a few weeks after that act 3 was almost unplayable because of how bad the frame rate and stuttering was not to mention the game with glitch out delete saves and you wouldn't be able to carry on with what you were doing because characters would clip out of bounds or just straight up freeze and be unable to be moved but yeah it was great it had no problems

I don't think its in a good condition but it is not cyberpunk launch status. Imo the biggest problem that makes it so bad is the performence and trash pc port which doesn't even allow some of the playerbase to play.
It’s not even close to being as buggy as Cyberpunk. Literally every single platform was littered with bugs. Game was missing features that were promised.

I have found the Explorer's Camping Kit on a vendor, I think it only cost like 2,000g too. I have also looted a Heartfelt Pendant. I can confirm every item on the cash shop can be acquired in game. Edit: ok except the music collection, but even that, who knows maybe later in the game? XD

A lot of Capcom games have a cash shop. This isn't new. The items you can buy are readily available in the game. Companies are going to try and make money, that's a fact. Just like you will make content that you know will earn your income. Dwelling on this stuff is completely pointless and just creates a toxic environment. The best thing you can do (as you said) is not buy them like I have always done. It isn't pay to win. Let's say there is someone who has very limited time to play but has higher expendable income so to make the most of their time playing they use these facilities. Nothing wrong with that, they earned that money so can spend it how they wish. Honestly the outrage people have over companies doing what they are designed to do is asinine when you can just ignore it. I love your content but when half of your video is basically complaining about something that's easily ignored by anyone who doesn't want to use it actually disappoints me. It has no actual impact on the game unless you go out of your way and choose to make it an issue. Its a massive nothing burger.
Thats because theres people like me who aren't really running into any issues besides frame drops in certain situations, the game is actually very enjoyable when it's working. Just sucks that the majority doesn't get to enjoy such an enjoyable game, wish they focused more on optimization before launch, this game could've done very well.

I watched you play some of the game from the beginning yesterday and it looks like a really good and fun game. However, it is getting pummeled in the reviews on STEAM. This looks like it goes beyond the angry little rebels who trash every game that comes out. What is Capcom doing? They said NPCs use CPU power and in crowded areas it runs horrible. Learn to program for PC. Seriously.
I don't think its because they don't know to program. Its because Capcom rushed it too fast they weren't able to actually optimize it right. Either that or their game engine is just crap.
Game is for gamepad players it also won't let you rebind the keyboardnumpad keys, as a left handed player this is almost always a deal breaker. My 3 years old mid range, at the time, PC doesn't run the game properly. Thanks for the refund.
It's so painfully obvious that the Devs had little to no control over the micro transactions, and some dumb suit/marketing person pushed this. While I'd call it pay to win (it gives you an in-game advantage, no denying it), it's so minor, so just not needed in any way whatsoever, and the balance of the game was not affected at all that it doesn't really effect or matter to me at all. Even so, I still think it shouldn't be a thing at all. It's only feeding the fire of bad PR. Hopefully, they will fix the issues with the game soon. 60 fps on console, smother frames on PC, all the crashing, and just poor performance in general, and we can all just focus on playing a very solid game.

While I see many people saying that Capcom's comment about looking into ways to "improve performance in the future" seems to sound like they don't care, or that it is a low priority, I think that is incorrect. I truly believe, due to the nature of what is *causing* the performance issue, they honestly have *no idea* how to address it with any actually significant improvement. It is CPU bound because it is linked to nothing graphical at all, but entirely centered in the NPC AI and systems. A core component of the game, at a very deep level. They flat out have no clue how to fix it without castrating something they are proud of... *yet.* That "yet" is a keyword here. Enough time and money can improve any code. Sometimes minorly only, sometimes majorly. Usually with some optimization the minor increases are doable, but significant changes almost always require a complete rethinking of how the process happens. Major re-design takes time. I am fairly certain it will improve. And significantly, but in stages. But then I am the guy that advises people who are very performance oriented to wait 6 months to a year after any game's release, while those of us that are less stressed by performance issues to basically beta test for them. No one ever listens to that advice, so... **

If MTX or performance are detrimental to my enjoyment of the game, I won’t buy the game. Simple as. I couldn’t care less if others value their time and money differently than I do. The MTX issue is being blown way out of proportion to the point of straight misinformation. While it is absolutely dumb and definitely insidious to have them in the first place, they absolutely do not affect game progression at all. RE4make and DMC5 also sold these worthless DLC packs to bait misinformed or lazy players into buying. This isn't an Ubisoft situation where they made their games RPGs to straight sell XP boosters and premium equipment to make the grind bearable. The performance of the game was expected as they were telling everyone pre release that it's 30 uncapped. But NASA computers not being able to run the game at a consistent 60fps means the game is just not optimized at all. And not being able to restart the game is mind blowing. I made a preset character to get a feel for the game before I started work, only to find out later that I was stuck with it until I reached a certain point. I'm all for having an auteur director having a vision, but that is just really stupid.
Im having a good time as well with very minor performence issues but it's definitely bad optimization and a bad pc port, players with way better pcs than me have been struggling to even get inti the game.
I think reviewers should be held accountable for saying anything about performance if they didn't test on a variety of rigs above the recommended specs. The game is literally unplayable for mid range builds in 2024 standards. The fact that reviewers will give a 9 or a 9.5 for a game as broken as this is really bad.

I think the cash shop in dd2 is an interesting issue. Of course it sells stuff that can already be earned in game, but i dont think thats super obvious to most people. That on top of the store being one of the main options on the title screen, and the performance issues, leaves people with a bad feeling. I think if the optimization was fine, the cash shop would have been tolerated. I also think if we werent in the midst of hyper monetized games (looking at you Ubisoft) the shop would have been ignored. Its a kind of straw that broke the camel's back.
Shop is on the people who bought the game. It states in the information about the bundle that you can get these items ingame. If you pay 80 bucks read what you get and not just click on it. The performance, just 1 savefile and bad communication about nothing of this are the problems.
People who throw a fit over cosmetics and things that can be earned in game don't deserve to be heard. If games were sold for more than $70 like they should be then micro transactions would be less necessary and games would probably release in better states.
I agree, since the game itself is actually very good and very faithful to dd1. It just sucks that they released it in such a porrly optimized state bc if it worked well for the majority of the playerbase then the cash shop wouldn't even be acknowledged by most people, like most of capcom's other games.
I am enjoying my time with it about 7 hours in. Just got one tapped by my first minotaur enemy, good times! I do have a very good PC and still get 35-45 fps in cities with everything maxed out. Even then I would still recommend it, regardless of the meaningless micro-transactions that are being overblown.
Very good PC will get decent performance. Those of us with a 3600/5600 CPU get into 20fps with horrible frame timing in the city area, it's jarring. Hoping Capcom will fix.

Bro, WHAT? I've been playing since the game dropped on Steam, and have loved every second of it. Had no idea about microtransactions or negative reviews. The game is genuinely incredible. I was aware of the potential performance issues, but haven't experienced any, not even in cities. As for the rest, I feel like the game itself is a gem and such a massive improvement over DD1 that it truly deserves a chance. Hopefully they'll implement some of the feedback and iron out the rough patches so more people get to experience it

The performance is truly horrendous. 70-80 FPS in the Wilderness, take two steps into Verdun and it drops to 30-40.

@Wolfheartfps To start a new game -- Go to the game and character creator turn off cloud sync the go to each store page and make note of the id numbers then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata in your user ID folder find the correct ID number for each one and delete all the files recreate your character and pawn launch game and it should start a new game (mine did)
the annoying thing is that issues like this will just create more pirates to avoid denovo and to avoid a lot of the issues that normally come with these kind of games and that will in turn make companies "need/want" too make money in other ways like more microtransactions to make up for the loss in sales its a vicious cycle.

My CPU isn't top of the line anymore but with an RTX 4090 and a Ryzen 7 5800X3D I'm seeing like 40-50 FPS in the capital (max settings or minimum settings, it doesn't matter) with like 50-60% CPU utilization. They claim it's a CPU thing, but it's not even fully utilizing the CPU. They really just need to optimize it.
Edit: 40-50 FPS is very bad, and it's a really bad feeling choppy 40-50. Most people have it MUCH worse.
The min requirements are actually really low too, oddly enough.

It’s not about whether these items are available in the game. The problem is that there is now an incentive to make them harder to get in game than they should be, creating the potential for a sale.
If everyone was happy with microtransactions in their current state then more companies would get riskier with what they paygate as well. Like actually paygating powerful weapons and armors with no other way to get them. We should've never let it get this far

DD2 would've been such an easy W for Capcom. It's sad they did this and soured the reputation of this game for a lot of people. The core experience is still really good in a lot of ways and I've been having fun with it. But all of this controversy could've been avoided. I also agree that launching without a "new game" option is WILD. But hopefully they will actually patch that and not just make a PR statement and hope the backlash blows over.
As for pay-to-win elements, they're not the worst I've seen - especially since the items are a one-time purchase only. But you can buy 5 wakestones, which are used to revive yourself on death. So you can literally buy items that prevent you from dying to bosses and tougher enemies.

The news certainly soured my intention to play. In Canada this game is $95. I am not paying $95 dollars for a single player game with microtransactions. I have heard the response that *most* of these items are available in game, and that should incentivize me to look past the optional microtransactions. I will say that news does not have that impact on me. The only thing that news incentivizes me to do is to wonder if the availability of these items in game were designed to compliment the existence of these microtransactions. I do not have faith that the game was designed in such a way as to completely ignore the existence of microtransactions, and I am more than heavily inclined to believe that my in game experience is designed in a way to influence my desire to engage with them.
I have faith in my past experience with how microtransactions influence game design. I will not gaslight myself and diminish these experiences to engage with a $95 single player game with microtransactions.

The big No for me on the game is not being able to start a new game. I'm fine with being locked to just one campaign/story, but not being able to delete that and start a new one is the reason I chose to not buy the game. With some games, I need to play them a bit to learn their different systems. Some games take me a bit longer than others. But there's always a moment when the systems "click" for me. And generally when that happens, I start fresh again. I did it with BG3 because I had never played D&D before. Again, I'm fine with being limited to just one, but not letting me delete that one and start over is crazy to me. So when I think about that sort of design decision I suspect there are other design decisions they've made that's not going to be my cup of tea either. I knew BG3 set some new standards, but I never thought in 2024 I need to start asking the question from upcoming games of "Can I start a new game after I started one?" But here we are.

I always think a bit too much about this stuff but they say in the main cities it is the many NPC's that bog down the CPU but the city isn't even all that crowded and I'd go as far as saying its about as crowded as the first game. I just think there is more to it than this. I mean we've had more characters in older Bethesda games whose AI was more complex with schedules and doing tasks. It has me concerned for the upcoming Monster Hunter game as its supposed to run on the same engine.

That you can't restart the game with different profiles is ridiculous. In the character creator that was released you could make 5 characters and 5 main pawns. I felt that was an indication of how many different characters I could make without having to delete one. We are way past the Commodore 64 era and this should be possible.
Exactly. Recently I created the lodoss crew in all 3 dark Souls as a mean to replay those games with different builds. Not being able to do that in dd2 is a no go for me until they fix that

You dont even have to bother "min-maxing" because the game swaps around your stats to fit your vocation unlike DD1. If its to experience alternatives to the story, the game has ng+ where your progress is carried over. What exactly is the issue?

@@polodhtip6061 Yes you can change the name and appearance but not at will. You have to buy two "art of metamorphosis" tickets which you take to the barber to change your appearance. You can also spend gold to change aspects as well but meta tickets lets you change mostly everything. Not sure if you can change your pawns inclinations with it or not.

The item needed to allow appearance modification for example wouldn't have to exists. The barber charges gold for every other option and should charge gold for that too.
The item can be bought in-game for RC and the grind for RC is not bad in my humble opinion.
But some players feel it is grindy and they don't like that grind so they see the cash-shop as a solution.
This is exactly the type of customer Capcom is aiming at.
Capcom could easily not have the item, and even give more RC to players during the game and have more ways to earn it if they are so concerned players with little time find it hard to earn RC.
Its a single player game after all, so why not!

Everyone is saying greed and crap. You can literally get almost EVERYTHING in game that’s in the shop. I can take a dip here and there in dps for a good gaming experience. The only problem I have is not having multiple saves/characters. Now that IS a problem. And honestly after hour 10 the only thing you really have to worry about is if your pawns actually die and even then you can re summon your main pawn. Really people are freaking out for no reason. You’re just asking for your experience to be a cake walk. The game was made with perfect balance to everything and I think it works well. Again not having another character is the only problem I have here.

There are valid issues like the performance and not having a new game option but these are things Capcom have addressed and will amend.

Capcom have been doing the whole 'single-player cheat microtransactions' thing for a while now and it has not caused them much harm in the past. They did this in Monster Hunter World, RE remakes, DMC5, probably other games I'm forgetting, and yes even the original Dragon's Dogma (in fact what they offered there was worse IMO) in case people forgot. And yet all those games have glowing praise.
The real issue is the performance, the cash shop stuff is just something else to complain about. You wouldn't even be hearing about the microtransactions nearly as much if people were able to run the actual game to a decent degree. As with those other Capcom games, if people are actually able to play and the game quality is good, people really do not care that much about the microtransactions.

Cap com was doing so well man. I didn’t play the first one, but I pre ordered this one after spending a few hours in the character creator. Only issues I’ve had so far is the terrible city experience. It’s a stuttery mess hovering around mid 50s and sometimes into the 40s. It’s a fun game, but it’s such a shame the launch is so bad.

In the first game, the stats you gain from levelling up was dictated by your Vocation as well, meaning there was reason for wanting specific ones for specific parts of the game.

Capcom was seen as a terrible greedy company a decade ago they absolutely can since they did it already.
This won't hurt them. The game isn't an unplayable buggy mess like Cyberpunk was at launch, it just has some slow down here and there. The cash shop is blown way out of proportion, it's not the first single-player RPG to have it (see any Ubisoft game) and it won't be the last, plus it's more about the mere presence of microtransactions rather than what they actually are. People will forget to be mad after a couple weeks and move on to the next thing.

To be fair - my PC's specs are below minimal requirements (I have a 4 core CPU) and I haven't had any serious issues with performance. FPS are mostly around 40-60 fps, with occasional drops to 20 (but very brief). Sure, it's not great, I'm playing on low res, but still, I'm having a blast with the game. Mind you, I'm the kind of player who don't care a lot about graphics and performance, so I get why some people might be dissapointed. For the amount of outrage the game got, it seems a bit undeserved.

The thing is that people with expensive machines dont get consisted 100+ fps.
It needed a little more polish, Maybe 6 more months in the oven to polish the optimization (this thing will be patch out I guess with time like Cyberpunk). But I am still loving the game. And about the mtx (a practice that disguste me as much as everyone) I have a Theory, the devs didnt want to put mtx to make players angry, BUT the big heads, Ceos, Investors at Capcom, they forced to do that "modern practice" in their games.
So They were like "OK, lets put mtx, juts mtx that can STILL be get inside the game". So they pleased their CEOS overlords, trolling them knowing their smart player base would figure it out that ALL those mtx can actually be get In game.

Huh...I honestly didn't realize the game had a mixed response. Lol Everyone I've talked to loves the game, and so do I. Does the performance suck? Hell yeah it does, but I wouldn't say it's enough to ruin the game for me.
I still think Capcom should have added a performance mode to the game. If NPCs bog down the performance then we should get an option for how many NPCs we want loading into the game.
I'm gonna give a controversial take here as someone who has been playing constantly since release on an RTX 2080; The performance is not the best I've seen in a new release but also very respectable on my (yes it objectively is) near obsolete hardware considering how good it looks. New games aren't made for people with 10 year old setups, fact. The save thing is VERY sus and frankly a bit insane however there is a very simple workaround of maybe... deleting the file? It's not like restarts are impossible to do even on consoles. The cash shops is honestly not surprising and I can almost guarantee came from Capcom pressure and not from dev intentions. It's also really not that deep, barely affects gameplay and can be ignored as all bullshit cash shops should be. Vote with your wallet always. All in all besides my personal issues of no hard mode and vocations missing that were available in DD1, both of which will very likely be fixed in either free or payed DLC, the game is fucking excellent and I am going to encourage everyone I know, especially DD1 fans, to play it when they can.

Well....I have a differing opinion on how good it is. I means aside from the obvious things mentioned in the video (Performance, no new game, and an unnecessary cash shop) I find that the game doesn't really do anything different than other games in this genre. I certainly wouldn't call it a RPG, but rather an action adventure game with RPG elements. The pawn system, while a cool concept, seems to be more of a long term problem because it seems to be tied to so many of the limitations of the game. The Brine is nothing more than an invisible wall that eats your pawns and anything that they carry (including quest items that you need) and they don't seem to be smart enough to stay out of the damn water!
Combat is fun in the beginning but after your 400th goblin, 1000th wolf and 20th mini boss it all starts to become a bit monotonous. I feel like I've done the main story quest a million times and it was done better in other games and quite frankly, the story narrative just doesn't grab me like others in other games have. All in all, I won't say it's a bad game, because it does have it's moments and it is a beautiful game. The character creator is second to none and deserves some kind of award for that alone.
I do think that the cash shop issue is being blown out of proportion because I've never even opened it up and never will and am doing fine. I think that performance will be addressed sooner or later and they already seem to be looking into the no new game issue. My biggest problem is the game's lack of "soul", if you will. Instead of playing it I am on UA-cam talking about it and usually when a game grabs me, I don't come back to UA-cam for days or weeks because I'm too busy playing. The game just hasn't grabbed me and to me that's the biggest red flag of all.

I picked up the game this morning and have been playing it all day on PS 5 with zero issues, so your "big problem #1" only seems to be a problem for some people (possibly PC folks).
Microtransactions in a single player game is a non-issue. It impacts no one but yourself, so if you don't like it, don't use it. It's just that simple. People who are complaining about this are the same people who complain about the color of their neighbor's car. What your neighbor chooses to buy or not buy is not your business and has no impact on you.
So it really only leaves the restart issue, which Capcom has acknowledged and is working on.

I agree 100% I have to wait to play because I ordered a physical copy to add to my library. Almost all the micro transactions are in the digital deluxe edition on PS5. I do not want any of them anyway, it will ruin the experience. As for the performance issues, who cares. It will get better. Currently I am playing Fallout New Vegas on my PS3, so I am pretty sure a few minor slow downs will not wreck the game. If the game is good, have fun and people need to stop spreading misinformation.
Why is everyone so upset about the micros in this game specifically? Other capcom games like the Resident Evil remakes and DMC 5 also have them but no one really cares. Yes micros suck and it would be great if they all went away but that's clearly not happening. This is far from the worst way to implement them. The game is single player and completely playable without them. I'm not saying the game perfect. The performance issues and lack of new game options are unacceptable. I'm just saying everyone clutching their pearls over this game having a cash shop while ignoring others seems odd.
It's a good game, and it's everything I needed it to be. It finally fleshed out what dd1 was trying to be. With that said, it's disappointing that for a lot of people, the performance of the game is wanky at some points. I hope that gets fixed. The no new game was an extremely poor decision on their part and needs to be added. The microtransactions are honestly not that bad. Everything is attainable by simply playing, and it can honestly be ignored. I guess for some people, it's the principle, but ultimately, it's not pay to win. You can and should ignore it all together. Other than these three issues, if the first 2 get addressed, the game can finally be what it is..... a master work

Yeah except for at lunch and a few weeks after that act 3 was almost unplayable because of how bad the frame rate and stuttering was not to mention the game with glitch out delete saves and you wouldn't be able to carry on with what you were doing because characters would clip out of bounds or just straight up freeze and be unable to be moved but yeah it was great it had no problems

I don't think its in a good condition but it is not cyberpunk launch status. Imo the biggest problem that makes it so bad is the performence and trash pc port which doesn't even allow some of the playerbase to play.
It’s not even close to being as buggy as Cyberpunk. Literally every single platform was littered with bugs. Game was missing features that were promised.

I have found the Explorer's Camping Kit on a vendor, I think it only cost like 2,000g too. I have also looted a Heartfelt Pendant. I can confirm every item on the cash shop can be acquired in game.

A lot of Capcom games have a cash shop. This isn't new. The items you can buy are readily available in the game.
Companies are going to try and make money, that's a fact. Just like you will make content that you know will earn your income. Dwelling on this stuff is completely pointless and just creates a toxic environment.
The best thing you can do (as you said) is not buy them like I have always done.
It isn't pay to win. Let's say there is someone who has very limited time to play but has higher expendable income so to make the most of their time playing they use these facilities. Nothing wrong with that, they earned that money so can spend it how they wish.

Thats because theres people like me who aren't really running into any issues besides frame drops in certain situations, the game is actually very enjoyable when it's working. Just sucks that the majority doesn't get to enjoy such an enjoyable game, wish they focused more on optimization before launch, this game could've done very well.

I watched you play some of the game from the beginning yesterday and it looks like a really good and fun game. However, it is getting pummeled in the reviews on STEAM. This looks like it goes beyond the angry little rebels who trash every game that comes out. What is Capcom doing? They said NPCs use CPU power and in crowded areas it runs horrible. Learn to program for PC. Seriously.
I don't think its because they don't know to program. Its because Capcom rushed it too fast they weren't able to actually optimize it right. Either that or their game engine is just crap.

Game is for gamepad players it also won't let you rebind the keyboardnumpad keys, as a left handed player this is almost always a deal breaker. My 3 years old mid range, at the time, PC doesn't run the game properly. Thanks for the refund.
It's so painfully obvious that the Devs had little to no control over the micro transactions, and some dumb suit/marketing person pushed this. While I'd call it pay to win (it gives you an in-game advantage, no denying it), it's so minor, so just not needed in any way whatsoever, and the balance of the game was not affected at all that it doesn't really effect or matter to me at all.
Even so, I still think it shouldn't be a thing at all. It's only feeding the fire of bad PR.
Hopefully, they will fix the issues with the game soon. 60 fps on console, smother frames on PC, all the crashing, and just poor performance in general, and we can all just focus on playing a very solid game.

While I see many people saying that Capcom's comment about looking into ways to "improve performance in the future" seems to sound like they don't care, or that it is a low priority, I think that is incorrect.
I truly believe, due to the nature of what is *causing* the performance issue, they honestly have *no idea* how to address it with any actually significant improvement. It is CPU bound because it is linked to nothing graphical at all, but entirely centered in the NPC AI and systems. A core component of the game, at a very deep level.
They flat out have no clue how to fix it without castrating something they are proud of... *yet.*
That "yet" is a keyword here. Enough time and money can improve any code. Sometimes minorly only, sometimes majorly. Usually with some optimization the minor increases are doable, but significant changes almost always require a complete rethinking of how the process happens. Major re-design takes time.
I am fairly certain it will improve. And significantly, but in stages.
But then I am the guy that advises people who are very performance oriented to wait 6 months to a year after any game's release, while those of us that are less stressed by performance issues to basically beta test for them. No one ever listens to that advice, so... **

Who cares if, in a single player game that literally cannot affect others, they allowed those who have fewer hours to invest in gaming to make it a *tiny bit* easier for themselves? The cash shop can be 100% ignored. It isn't multiplayer, so there's no "anticheat".
Complaining about actual issues that exist, like the performance, is a valid point of view, even when some don't agree. "I don't like it because of this thing that actually affects me" makes sense.
But complaining about things that are a non-issue is a little bit of a reach. "I don't like how some people play their single player games" seems a bit main character syndrome, doesn't it?
Maybe in a year the game has Denuvo removed, it's performance fixed, and is on sale for 75% off, I'll consider it then.

I've enjoyed many mixed and negatively-rated games and I've been unable to play or get into many overwhelmingly-positive-rated ones. The trick is to think for yourself and just try it if it peaks your interest! Thankfully the Steam offers refunds :)

Mixed reviews means its not worth my time. Im not saying thats indicative of this game but in general Im not messing with a game thats not great. Hopefully they can get their crap together, until then this is a pass for me.
The MTX issue is being blown way out of proportion to the point of straight misinformation. While it is absolutely dumb and definitely insidious to have them in the first place, they absolutely do not affect game progression at all. RE4make and DMC5 also sold these worthless DLC packs to bait misinformed or lazy players into buying. This isn't an Ubisoft situation where they made their games RPGs to straight sell XP boosters and premium equipment to make the grind bearable.
The performance of the game was expected as they were telling everyone pre release that it's 30 uncapped. But NASA computers not being able to run the game at a consistent 60fps means the game is just not optimized at all. And not being able to restart the game is mind blowing. I made a preset character to get a feel for the game before I started work, only to find out later that I was stuck with it until I reached a certain point. I'm all for having an auteur director having a vision, but that is just really stupid.
I think most developers would love to have over 200,000 steam players playing their game that's what you call highly successful.

Im having a good time as well with very minor performence issues but it's definitely bad optimization and a bad pc port, players with way better pcs than me have been struggling to even get inti the game.

I think reviewers should be held accountable for saying anything about performance if they didn't test on a variety of rigs above the recommended specs. The game is literally unplayable for mid range builds in 2024 standards. The fact that reviewers will give a 9 or a 9.5 for a game as broken as this is really bad.
Yeah I have an nvidia gtx 3060 with 8 cores and it runs at 35 fps with constant stuttering.
most mentioned the performance I watched, but all said it's not certain until game comes out. They want their early access to get views and will alwasy lean more on the positve side pre-release you need to keep that in mind always until game comes out you will not get all the dirt

I think the cash shop in dd2 is an interesting issue. Of course it sells stuff that can already be earned in game, but i dont think thats super obvious to most people. That on top of the store being one of the main options on the title screen, and the performance issues, leaves people with a bad feeling. I think if the optimization was fine, the cash shop would have been tolerated. I also think if we werent in the midst of hyper monetized games (looking at you Ubisoft) the shop would have been ignored. Its a kind of straw that broke the camel's back.
Capcom did something even worse in MonsterHunterWorld, they sold stuff you couldn't actually get in the game lmao
Shop is on the people who bought the game. It states in the information about the bundle that you can get these items ingame. If you pay 80 bucks read what you get and not just click on it.
The performance, just 1 savefile and bad communication about nothing of this are the problems.

I am enjoying my time with it about 7 hours in. Just got one tapped by my first minotaur enemy, good times!
I do have a very good PC and still get 35-45 fps in cities with everything maxed out. Even then I would still recommend it, regardless of the meaningless micro-transactions that are being overblown.
Very good PC will get decent performance. Those of us with a 3600/5600 CPU get into 20fps with horrible frame timing in the city area, it's jarring. Hoping Capcom will fix.

Bro, WHAT? I've been playing since the game dropped on Steam, and have loved every second of it. Had no idea about microtransactions or negative reviews. The game is genuinely incredible.
I was aware of the potential performance issues, but haven't experienced any, not even in cities. As for the rest, I feel like the game itself is a gem and such a massive improvement over DD1 that it truly deserves a chance. Hopefully they'll implement some of the feedback and iron out the rough patches so more people get to experience it
