Wide leg trunk rotation, seated figure 4, and seated hip flexor stretches are all simple stretches to get started. They can be done on a couch, bed, or on the floor. These should help loosen up tight hip muscles and relieve pain in the hip and low back area.
Bridges, clamshells, and straight leg raises (SLR) are all simple exercises to start getting some relief. These should help strengthening the hip, knee, and back, as well as loosen up tight hip muscles and relieve pain in the hip and low back area.

I just want to say thank you so much I was really hurting when I bent down to pick something up or to lay down etc. And I started to watch the low hip pain stretches and it helped with the pain alot. So now I'm doing them for like an hour a day and it's really helped thanks 😊😊😊😊😊😊

Thanks Dr JO some of these exercises help but the last one causes alot of pain in the lower back so when I see my pain management dr I will point this out to him, i like the exercise where you concentrate on the hip movement alone no back rotation I can feel that one but it's not so painful and may help me strengthen my muscles in that area too.

Had a anterior total hip replacement in Feb this year. What stretches are recommend for me.?

Thank you for these exercises. For the straight leg raise, I can hardly lift my left leg up ( I have left hip arthritis). My right leg, no problem. Will left leg go higher with practice? Also, how often should these stretches and exercises be done, daily, or few times/week?
You're welcome. Unfortunately, I don't know since I can't evaluate you, but hopefully getting the muscles stronger and more flexible will help. Therapeutic exercises and stretches can be done every day.
