- After months of anticipation, the start of the season is here! Dave's C6 Corvette and Josh's MX5 1.6 turbo (brought as a backup for his 520bhp MX5 NC which had an oil pump failure) were loaded and we hit the road for Teesside Autodrome and the first round of the British Drift Championship. Friday practice was the first time either of the guys had a chance to test their new setups, so it was going to be an interesting day from the off!

In a weird way it’s good to see the frustration, it reminds us that it’s not always quite as easy as you guys make it look. Great to see the corvette in competition at last and really looking forward to seeing the sr20mx5 compete for the first time
I love it! Most UA-camrs just show the good runs, and try to make us believe that everything goes perfect, so we like and subscribe.
Drift Games shows what's really going on, and they succeed anyway. :P
Also, you have drift Miatas, so I have to fanboy over this.

Although I chuckled at the tantrum, I feel for you. Good pep talk from Dave and so happy when you shouted for joy. Been awesome following the progress. Fantastic work from all involved
Definetely important to start learning shifting while in drift, happy to see josh progressing!
Love seeing this the cars doing what they built to do. As far as the “breakdown “ from Josh it is all the pressure of the last year of building cars ,Covid stuffs the other car breaking and wanting to perform at the first event. It’s normal for these emotions to make their way out. It’s also good to see because it shows his passion for drifting.
Shifting mid drift is a bitch. Loved that you didn't left out the tantrum though, it's part of the progress, and Josh you are progressing for sure✌️❤️

Honestly, seeing josh that frustrated makes me excited to see how happy he gets when he finally nails those mid drift shifts. Good times are the result of seat time.

Oh Josh man heart goes out to ya. Im seeing similar probs on a sim but I cant imagine what it would feel like but to be fair man your running a car with much less power than your primary car. Such a same we didnt get to see the little mx5 in the finals. Next sessiom man 😁
love that ye keep the human aspect of these videos like showing Josh throwing a tantrum! with all the other youtubers this is lost in their videos but ye guys really show that there is ups and downs, learning and progress in everything ye do and that's what makes these videos so relatable and enjoyable! keep her lit at BDC lads!

Makes me happy seeing the 1.6 Miata turbo running in a comp. I still believe it can be a competitive car in pro drifting.
If it had a better diff ratio it could have done better I think.... also a better driver as well 😂
@@joshholdsworth4110 Well he did figure it out and is picking up the car's required timing, but thy are no cake walk to drift. It looked like to me he is used to a heavier car. The challenge for a lot of drivers is adaptability and how fast one can do that.

Brilliant day 1 nexts week🤣 the highs and lows of drifting other than Josh's car letting him down first time in new car did good so all in all was a good weekend lads

Jeesh Dave and the Corvette looks really good right now! As for Josh of course he's learning but it seems like it just doesn't have the power to keep spinning and pulling through and out the corners in 3rd?

You're an absolute savage Dave, I can't wait to see how well you do in future events when you and the car gel together.
Just timing on the gear changes are the issue. When shifting down mid drift, wait until after the hydro, not during, and shifting up wait untill the speed is built which in the end Josh did eventually. Little bit more tuition and some more seat time is all thats needed
It’s all a learning process for me at the moment, trying to take in as much information off people and will hopefully improve 💁♀️

Great seeing all of you on Sunday! Was surreal for me and my girlfriend meeting you all, Adam was so welcoming haha, the secret sauce definitely did it's job! Hopefully see you all at Three Sisters in August if you can make it! Keep at it lads!

I was so gutted on Sunday, 🙈 I genuinely taught Dave won the first run and was level on the second run of the top 16, was gutted the judges didn't agree 🙈 but by god did he put in some performance for a brand new car. Unreal performance Dave 💪💪 hope u get the new mk3 sorted soon josh, should be a great season for ye guys 🙏👌

Something worth looking into in case josh endes up using the mk1 again next round but it looks like the shifter was moving/wobbling way to much. This then decreased when the tyre pressures was increased so to me that would suggest bushes with in the drivetrain starting to wear out. So changing them may help with shifting while drifting
The car was never supposed to be at the round so bar the exhaust it wasn’t really prepped. The NC will be ready to party soon so no fear of missing a shift with the old sequential

Really surprised to see dave gettin on so well with the new car so quick, given what little testing he had. I reckon we are going to see some seriously quick progress with Daves results over the season.

Congrats guys on the builds despite the mishaps. They are going to be weapons.
I would like to suggest one thing tho. Get rid a drive by wire and go to cable. Limp mode isn't worth the small advantages.
To be honest the car was running silly hot, so it may have saved us for the rest of the weekend

Dave really nice chase runs, Josh why no clutch massage and gears. Its sr20 need clutch massage of 9000 clutch kicks.

The corvette could have done with a different ratio on the rear end, drifting 2nd gear all the way through the course. Seemed like 2nd gear had too much wheel speed when chasing.

one thing that has always got me about joshs n.a why is the wheel not straight? seems to be at like almost a 45 degree when driving straight?

Dave, how do you find the Simpson Hans? Do you find it easier to wear? Any issues with turning your head?
It’s pretty ok compared to a regular Hans, once your drifting you don’t notice it at all!
Really?? Is nobody going to comment on the scoring system this weekend?? It was outrageous some of the scores being dished out in both classes.
Yeah, but what can we do about that? We are there to have fun and we had a lot of that, so no complaints from our side.
How come it fills up with smoke? Surely the firewall and inner arches should prevent this or is is a case that a open window is sucking it in? This has a massive impact on whats going on. Not a critical view on the build just curious. Cheers
Josh’s car is a road car with a cage, not a full build like the new NC, so it’s not got custom inner arches etc.
How many things on Josh’s plate?

Quick Q for Dave...how was the drifting with the roof off? Different experience? Lot less smoke than Josh's run ! (smoke may not have been able to keep up with the 'Vette!)

Transferred his Irish Drift Series license

Not so much under powered but geared wrong for this track.
The steering wheel in the mx5 has given me aids.
