- Ski run in Les Deux Alpes from 3400 to 1300 (Glacier, going trough Les Deux Alpes village, all the way to Mont de Lans), late March 2019.
There are some inevitable flat parts, also some blacks were closed, in result the video is a bit boring at times, but I preferred to avoid speeding it up.
Gosh how much I miss skiing!
I think that you are not alone ⛷️
@@stay_on_ground2351 Most certainly. :) Though, I was very lucky and managed to ski twice this season. :)
I miss it so incredibly much
Miss it more ever year knee problem
You say boring, I say sublime. Wonderful feeling to have such a long run with varied terrain.
I have you in an afterparty playlist because I studied in France in 1994 and used to ski at les Deux Alpes and when I'm in LA at an after party you come up on the slopes which I remember from decades ago. Thank you for creating a fantastic piece of history and art. I'm now looking at a school reunion...
I want to really thanks you because its made 10 years maybe more that i didn't put on my ski in this station you brought me memories from this area so happy to see it again
I used to go there every year as a kid, these are some of my best childhood memories.
It's a bit sad that there's so little snow these days. Apparently they did a great job with these snow guns, but I remember back then (late 70s ~ mid 80s), everything was completely covered in snow; sometimes you'd need snow chains to even get to the village.
Anyway, thanks for the great video. Hope you enjoyed your time there.
Don't forget this is late march.
I got the same memories i skied there every years from 1978 to 1989, i knew every single runs. A great resort.
Nice video! Also great to see how you come to a complete stop when you pass the children and their ski instructor 🤩
As a parent, I was pleased to see that you slowed down to 5 km/h when you passed the ski school...
There was enough space but certainly, I dont want to startle the little ones :)
Adults rule, kids drool.
Great vid. Used to do this "top to bottom without a break" runs all the time, now I would need to stop and have a sit down a few times on the way! Like many, i've had this week on the snow canceled thanks to restrictions, but maybe I will get back on the slopes before I do become too old to ski anymore! Thanks again.
Wow. Man starts skiing from top of mountain comes out at the equator! Lol. this is by far the longest run I have seen anyone post on youtube. At the 8min mark I was thinking " well that was a great run... wait!"
Haha, yes, it is great to be able to make such a long run without having to wait for a lift in between.
marshall hughes the descent is massive here, but there are longer runs in Europe, cascades in flaine is 14km I think
Both Les Deux Alpes and nearby Alpe d'Huez are known for their 2000m drop slopes. The longest and most relaxing one is Sarenne (Alpe d'Huez) wich is said to be the longest black run in Europe. But it is not as black as it used to be. The steepest ans narrowest parts were softened and enlarged years ago. A challenging one is Tunnel down to La Fare (ALpe d'Huez). Tunnel is a steep gymkhanna to start with. Then, there are some nice long red and blue slope until La Fare. La Fare is drawned in the trees a bit like a road in the mountain. It is not difficult in itself but as its altitude is low the snow could be tricky to ski, especially early in the morning in March.
And to finish, Les Vallons de la Meije (les Deux Alpes) is a free ride domain from top of the Meije glacier down to the village of La Grave.
@@ericthed1700 I skied the Sarenne, it gets its title as "longest black run in europe" but it is rather red-ish with a long flat part at the end. I think is black to discourage beginners, because after you are on it, you are committed for the long run, there is no turning back. But is a very nice run, nice scenery, very peaceful as there are no lifts, huts, etc during the descent.
The Tunnel was closed when I went there, I cant wait to go back and try it. Thanks for the info.
Kids are natural skiers....what a terrific run. Thanks for the treat..I'd forgotten the sound.
Fantastic to see the mountain of hell terrains in snow. Can't wait to go! :)
I tripped big time to this vid. Loved it. Almost felt like I was there. Mountain vistas, bluebird sky, cruising down a mountain with some cool music. Sounds like a good day.
watching this makes me realise i need to get back on the slopes soooooon!! Great video and awesome run! Thanks for sharing
Many thx, this vid brings back lots of memories. Skied there regularly on my Erasmus year...
Beautiful video, put a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing with the world.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video - have been to les
Deux before and didn’t realise you could go so much further down from the town. I enjoyed recognising parts of the runs and knowing what was coming up next!
I have never went skiing in my life but these videos really want to make me learn it
Favourite resorts and one of my favourite runs. Going to try and do this in 10-minutes or less when I return in January 2022.
I think I would have broken my legs 4 times or did it all in 3 days ! Up to 80 km/h, my legs would have just give up, or my heart would have. That person in red that just passed in front of you to stop was such a close call in my book ! And that last stop, wow ! I would have crashed on something and stayed on the ground for ever ! Im sure I could have not move for a long time. Pretty impressive ! Thanks for filming and posting !
Boring!??
For this Midwest flatlander skier all I can say is..someday. That was spectacular. Such a reprieve from the hard carving technical videos Im drawn too. Relaxing, had drama, other skiers, kiddies.. scenery scope.., edit, Music!
Les Deux Alpes bucket list.
Thanks, I appreciate your kind words and I hope that you will get to enjoy skiing in L2A someday
What a ride! That was so fun! Gorgeous! Thank you!
Today and tomorrow was the same days, but we can't skiing,it's frustrating
Your video is a therapy 😎
Imagine how delicious the slopes are at the moment with just the locals using them?
I don't think I realised you can ski so far down.
Miss those days on the slopes - that was an amazing run - wish I was there
Not boring at all! Great views. Looks like an amazing place to go downhill.
Brilliant!
Loving the respect for the kids ski school ❤️👍
I've seen snow on TV. If I had to ski down that slope I think most of it would be face down in the snow. Even the little kids you passed would have laughed at me.
Haha. A couple of days with a good ski monitor and you could ski down that route no problems :)
I was at L2A in Feb 2019 just 6-8 or so weeks before you. It looks alot different from your video. We stupidly went during the French bank holiday, it was absolutely rammed. Easily 10x busier than in your video, the lower slopes were a mess, but much nicer higher up. All slopes were open, lots of snow. A couple of days the VERY top (above Jandri Exress 2) were closed due to wind and temps below -22C.
As a beginner, I loved it, more slopes to chose from than I could count. Something for everyone.
Should definitely watch this next time I have trouble sleeping
I can't wait for January cos my high school is doing a ski trip here and I am going I cannot wait 😁
Incredibly smooth camera work, good job!
My quads were burning just watching that....
Wunderbar!!!!! 🤝🏼
I miss this. The things i'd do to go back right now
vidéo agréable, pas fan des 2 alpes mais la neige à 3400m elle est vraiment top !
Awesome. I’ve done that too. Ice balls on piste at the bottom!
Haha, yes. The black runs just above Les deux Alpes were closed due to lack of snow but, hopefully, I will be there again in march and make a better run, this time from 3600
Let’s hope we allowed back by then! Nothing like being one of the first on the t-bar first thing!
I forget, can you go on piste from 3600 to glacier run on this vid?
I remember that piste..but I was finishing in hotels so a bit shorter run.. I remember that my friend didn’t enjoy the double drag lift on the top as this one was his first drag lift ever(on snowboard 😂)
Nice video, it would have been interesting to see on a map which route you descended.
Salut felicitări pentru ceea ce faci 👍
Mersi fain!
That's a decent run. 😯
For a good skier, les Deux Alpes can get old really fast even in good weather as you can see from this video, but for beginners, Where else can you find this much high mountain blue slope?
I miss skiing so much this year. I would be in Austria now :(
12:41 Perfection on altitude and descent
Haha, true, didnt thought of that :)
@@wickedangle thx you, I like your skiing. I want to go skiing in Les Deux Alpes, but from germany the way is to far : )
I was on these slopes around a week ago, they are much steeper than this video makes them out to be lol
Ma station préférée !
wow nice run
Sooo many good memories....
So do I miss it but after 60 years of tennis thirty years of squash and thirty plus years of skiing my knees have totally worn out . Plus aerobics , step classes and hiking my knees have totally given up .😢
Looks like a overpass in
Les Gets French Alps
Great Ski resort
Great Town
Lindo alpes desse País saudações do Brasil 🇧🇷
Nice run
I'm Planning to stay Here next year about 22nd Jan to 29th. I'd love for it to be sunny. Do you know how likely it'll be sunny for that period of time. I've read Jan can be cloudy
Can somebody tell me how the first Song is called? Great Video btw, just came back from the Slopes of Switzerland last week... =)
Sweet video dude
Almost 13 km, never done it. I’m going to Alpe d’Huez in the weeks to come. Who knows the pistes to follow for this traject?
класс ! жаль снега маловато .
Can i ask which camera you used to record this and does it also measure the speed and distance etc or do you use something else to measure that? Other than that, amazing video I’ve really enjoyed it!
It is filmed with a Gopro 7. If the gps is on, the camera records telemetry data in the video file. With a software like Dashware you can overlay it on the video.
I was there 1 month ago we took the same way !
Went skiing first time in L2A. Part/Corner at 10:07 until 10:25 fucked so many people up due to icy conditions haha..it was also REALLY busy at the time. Other than that it's a nice area to ski.
4.40 le paon bar ça tue meilleur endroit du monde
Nice one, good atmosphere with the view and the music : perfect.
What settings/ratio/quality did you use for the record ? Any pre/post stabilization ?
Yo sick video. what software do you use for the speed and stuff
Top is 3600 meters not 3400 meters
You are right. I will have to go there this winter and make a run from 3600 :)
The class at 5:20, its really the ducklings following momma duck isnt it
This is the life!
Levi???
How can it be 0g? that would be without any gravitation. In the beginning it should be 1g.
Probably just calibrated to 0 and measures additional Gs
How much is the ticket to the top?
Rank amateurs always fail to use their pole straps. It marks you as a fool. It is the straps which allow you to actually plant, and swing your poles. You can't even stand on one ski.
Thanks, never gave it much thought. I dont have ambitions with my skiing other than having fun, but I always appreciate a tip. And certainly, I wouldn't want to look like a fool! :D
You are great wicked angle ✌️
Legend. I will be staying in Mont De Lans, also late March. Any tips at all? That'd be appreciated. Cheers.
Hey Chris, thanks! I will also be back in L2A last week of march during Snowfest festival.
From this year there is a new gondola up the glacier which will relieve the pressure on Jandri express 2 and will make skiing on the large nice pistes down from 3200 more accessible. For eating on the mountain I would recommend Chalet de la Fée, maybe a bit later in the day when it gets more sun. I dont think there is much apreski action in Mont de Lans, but there is plenty in L2A 1600, also some clubs that will run till late in the night.
@@wickedangle Mergem/venim si noi la Snowfest anul asta, asa mi-am dat seama ca esti Roman. Perfect, multumesc. Stii sigur ca au deschis gondola aia, ca tot citesc ca nu e gata inca.
@@cdemetriad da, asa se pare ca merge din 18 ian. ua-cam.com/video/Nf0AU6Qm4iw/v-deo.html
@@wickedangle I will be visiting Alpe d'Huez and probably take the helicopter taxi to visit L2A. I didn't know there was some kind of festival/event going on.
Let's hope corona doesn't shut down the French ski resorts next week. Austria's season has already ended, everything will be closed after the coming weekend.
How did you get all info on the screen, like the G forces? And what did you use to record the video?
@@ordian The festival is canceled because of the virus :( Stay safe.
Video was recorded with a Gopro hero 7 black which has gps built in and embeds gps info into the video. Next you can use a software like Dashware to draw the info over the video in the format you like.
Camera used???
where do you get this informations from ? camera, app ? thanks
Gopro camera can record gps info. I then may use an app like Dashware to display the telemetry on top.
Wow !!!
How do you track the data?
Iron legs 💪🏻👏🏻
And then 2h from bottom to top
how long does it take to get back up?
How long did it take you to get all the way back up to the top again? :o)
I've been to L2A about 12 years ago - I think I remember some parts of your run.
Hehe. It took a good while. I think you have to take at least 5 lifts to the top :)
✌️🥰meu sonho conhecer a neve 🥶🤗🥰
Very nice video and skiing skills! May I ask what kind of camera and measuring devices/app you use?
Thanks! I used a GoPro 7, it records telemetry data in the video file. You then need some software like Dashware (if I remmember correctly) to overlay it over the footage.
Great video and skiing! 💪 I haven't been to Les2Alps yet an like such kind of videos which shows the whole skiing area in one! 👍 It's a pity that black runs were closed, it would be interesting to see them. And I do like to ski such top-to-bottom routes as well🎿 , e.g. there are such interesting routes with black parts in Sölden.
tu peux meme partir d'encore plus haut que ca mais j'y suis jamais allé l'hiver y a moyen que ca soit ouvert que l'été
Which Gopro did you use in 2019?
what period were you in?
I would need to stop 3-4 times to rest. OK, maybe 5 times :)
I think this is a great video. Shows the full top to bottom route, great for anyone thinking of going. Can I ask what is that app giving you speed and descent please?
Thanks! The gps telemetry data recorded by GoPro into the video file. You need then a program to "draw" info on the video based on this data. I think I used DashWare when I made this video, but unfortunately is Windows only.
Je veux skieeeeeeeeeeeeeer !!!!!!
Stunning view but there is little of exciting in the slope
You are right. The flat portion above "La Patachon" (starting at min 6), is unavoidable if you want to make a run from top to bottom without taking a lift. Also, some black runs were closed at that time. The video is pretty boring, and I am not the most exciting skier :), but can help someone who wants to check it out before going there or wants to relax admiring Alpes winter scenery.
@@wickedangle My comment was not against you, of course. On the contrary, you did an excellent job for documentation and also the gps indications are really interesting. it was quite clear to me that if you want to make a single run, you don't have many alternatives; by the way, I've never been there, hope to have this opportunity soon or later. Thanks
the speedmeter is totally off
Good video! How was it filmed with the speed an all, what did you use?
It is filmed with a Gopro 7. If the gps is on, the camera records telemetry data in the video file. With a software like Dashware you can overlay it on the video.
Me too!
hoe lekker dan gewoon
Et les bâtons, ils sont là pour faire joli ?
Long run indeed, but what I see from hands and shadow on the snow, a much better body-position could be trained !
wow
classe , il anticipe a 99.99 le ski des autres , a 5mn12s trop dangereux pour les petits,il feine un maximun,un skieur qui a du commencer au meme age des petits enfant de 5 ans
