    Wow, Alex! I just learned something really useful from you and you didn’t even know it!
    Every time you’re driving a zero turn you do it with one hand so you can hold the camera or do something else. I always assumed that would be more difficult than with two hands. I’ve been working on my first ZT for weeks and just got it out of the garage to test run it. After a while I tried steering with one hand and realized I have much more precise control that way in tight spaces!!!
    I’m sure most people who work on zero turns already knew this but I wish someone would have mentioned it once in a while!
    Still have some tuning to do, among other things, but this first ZT seems to be coming along fine. 🔧👍

    You are an artist, my friend. This one looks great. My current project may turn out like this one did once I finish it. I need a flywheel (part # 215700) for it, but I can't find one for a price that fits the budget for a Yard Machines riding mower from 2007 that also needs a stator, breather tube, and a few other parts, lol. It cleaned up beautifully though. It looks almost brand new, despite sitting out in the weather for several years. It didn't have many hours on it before the flywheel magnets let go.

    hi alex great video. just got one myself, girlfriends aunt wanted it gone, have it to idle and run great at mow setting any higher it dies out, New battery plug fuel lines deck removed(pile of crap spindles frozen), 17.5 horse in it. think a new carb

  • @jesterr7133
    @jesterr7133 Місяць тому

    Yep. I have a Craftsman with a 54 inch deck. I decided to put new spindles on it, and I broke 11 out of the 12 spindle bolts trying to take them off. They were no match for my impact, but I was even breaking them by hand. The new spindles came with new ones, but I went and got some grade 8 bolts from my local hardware store. Maybe these won't seize up as badly.

    Everything I’ve seen on these tractors recently indicates to me that they were actually pretty well built and easy to work on. For those reasons I wouldn’t be inclined to price them too low. Add to that the actual condition of this one and I think $500 isn’t out of line as it is now.
    Personally, I would have gone the rest of the way and taken care of the hood, in which case I’d price it at $600.
    Prices for new machines have gone up so much in the past two years I think we all need to bear that in mind and price used machines commensurate with the market. Of course perception is everything, so making sure they are visually as clean and polished as possible is a necessity.

    That starter solenoid connector off was a head scratcher for me. If I thought it vibrated off I’d squeeze it a bit with pliers to make it as tight as possible. That said, I think someone disconnected it for some reason and just forgot to reconnect. It’s also possible someone used that as a way to disable the machine so it couldn’t be stolen without a struggle.

    Awesome video! Just wanted to toss you a little tip about cleaning or rebuilding carburetors. When you're done put some WD-40 in the fuel Inlet and shake the carburetor up and down and then put a little bit more in and it usually stops the flooding issue, and the added bonus is it will keep things from sticking if you can't get the carb installed and in use right away. The old craftsman turned out just fine and you won't have any trouble getting what you want out of it.

    My current project has a Nikki carb, and the shutoff solenoid was actually seized, and I could not free it up. That's a new one. I am working on this one for someone else so I could not delete it, and it was seized to the bowl anyway. Thankfully, I had a bowl and shutoff solenoid in my parts stash.

  • @jesterr7133
    @jesterr7133 Місяць тому

    I have a lot more experience with the Nikki version of this carb since it is much more common on the machines I work on, but regardless, they are a pain in the ass and the kits are uber expensive. When I have to replace one of these pieces of junk, I usually replace it with a clone, since they can be had for 1/15th of the price. I tear the OEM carbs down and save everything that I can. I have built up a respectable parts stash at this point, but it kills me when I have to break down and buy a kit for one of them. The shutoff solenoids are a pain in the ass too. I install the fuel shutoff solenoid delete package on any of them I work on. Just get a shallow bolt that is the correct thread pitch, and you don't have to deal with it anymore. When I first started working on stuff, I had a machine with a brand new carb that would not run no matter what I did to it. I fought it for weeks before I figured out that the brand new shutoff solenoid was defective. After that, I just started deleting them.

  • @ridingmowerking
    @ridingmowerking Місяць тому

    I think your price guestimate is on the high end for the condition. will probably need a good amount of parts which would justify $500. But I get a little worried if they have too much rust. But I would really like to know how you get so many views on what is a mediocre tractor. Don't get me wrong, those are my favorite mowers to fix and resell.
