Terrific Color choices, MaryAnn! The pink will look terrific as an end of winter into spring hat, doesn’t wash you out, will be super cute with your dark hair. Love the lace-cable project, SO pretty!! And I’m sure your husband’s cardigan will be stunning! Berlin is also in the throes of winter with lots of snow this year. I’m halfway through knitting a scarf-hood (Purl soho pattern) for my daughter in law. Then it will either be a wrap cardigan by Knitting for Olive or a Sari Norland sweater…., decisions decisions. My main point is to use stash yarn. I really want to get my yarn pantry size down a bit.
Hey Maryann, what a great year it’s been 😊. You are a joy to watch, bubbly, funny, cheerful and honest. I totally agree with your first 3 wisdoms…. Knitting also calms my mind in a pleasant way that nothing else can (well, maybe a walk in the snowy forest with my dog….), but to also get a garment out of it 😮🎉!!! One of my favourite life lessons of all times is “this too shall pass”, and of course we need to be brave and face new challenges!!! The knitting community totally helps each other do that. Looking forward to a great 2024!!
Hi Rebecca!! Oh gosh, thank you for the sweetest comment!! I'm so happy your here and can't wait to see what 2024 has in stored for this little community!!! I hope you've been doing well and continue to learn from all the knitting adventures!
Happy 2024, Maryann! I'm so excited for what this new year will bring for you in terms of new knitting projects and techniques you'll discover! Often times, I feel like I've learned as much as I can about knitting but every now and then, something comes along and surprises me haha. I'm really hoping to push through and finish all of the WIPs I brought into 2024... definitely easier said than done haha. Thanks for another great video 😁
Hey Ash!!! Happy 2024 to you too! :) Fingers are crossed for. you!!! haha I hope you don't have TOO many to wrap up before you can cast on something new :)
Love your podcast so much, I’m also coming up on a year of knitting, and recently learned that cabling without a cable needle is magic (when my cat stole my cable needle during the turtle dove shawl 😂)! Love seeing your pets in your videos, and thank you for the giveaway! @kimknittedthis, and my favorite lys is Fibre Space in Alexandria, VA. ❤
Thank you for the sweet reply! And happy almost year of knitting to you too!! haha the turtle dove shawl is a great project to get the "cabling without a cable needle" down!!
The cable knit without a cable needle looked intimidating but interesting! Now I wanna try it 😌 Happy knitting anniversary!! @direewolff fav local yarn shop is Rumpelstiltskin in Sacramento, CA
You should def try it! Once you get the hang of it it's super nice not to have to always keep the cable needle around :) It's easier if you start with a stiffer/thicker yarn vs mohair!!
Exactly what Margarida said! I personally don't love the way it looks and it was just really irritating that the cami strap kept falling off in the first place :P I don't think it's a "no-go" here in general (though I'm sure some opinionated people would think otherwise haha) Ultimately if it doesn't bother, that's totally cool!!
@bymwu I was very interested in it. Because I'm on social media a lot and I've noticed, especially in the USA and Canada, that certain tops are a no-go in the knitting community because you can see bra straps. A few people think it's a very big deal. I was just curious if it had something to do with the culture. I had the cami strap thing with the camisole No.2 . Advice: never go with the suggested length.
I’ve been here since the beginning and love your podcast! I totally agree about elastics and got that tip with from you. I used an elastic in the top of a cowl recently and love the end result! My favorite yarn store is Woolbearers in Mount Holly, NJ @allyarnwelcome
As this was my first year of knitting too, I'm so impressed with the knitting skills you have already ! And as an early birthday present to myself, I'm actually gonna pick up some yarn at my local yarn store Laine et tricot to knit up the Marysia cardigan this year, hoping it will turn out just as good as yours ! @emma_willigsecker
Happy first year of knitting to you then!!! Thank you for the sweet words, I'm wishing you all the best for when you cast on that marysia cardigan! It really is a beautiful pattern :)

I'm from a European country. Is a bra strap really a no-go? Here nobody cares
i think she just meant she didnt like the way it looked w the straps showing, even if ppl dont really care she might not like how it looks
